Follow me as I develop 100 acres years to come. The long term goal of the property is to plant a variety of fruit bearing trees, a garden, a place to do some blacksmithing, and develop a place for my family and I to enjoy the outdoors. Who knows what it will become over the next few years, but I will always be open to your suggestions and look forward to sharing the experience with you all!

Hopefully manufacturers will offer & supply houses stock meter / outdoor disconnects with at least 6 spaces for circuit breakers to make it easier to install one or two 50 amp EV receptacles and a 120 volt outdoor convince receptacle. In our area they are now asking that we install an expansion joint for all PVC conduit leading from underground to a meter can to allow for ground settlement.

You were very lucky to get a combo meter / outdoor disconnect. A great u tuber electrical contractor from New Jersey said they will not be available until next year. Code should not have such a major changes until after announcing it at least two years in advance to give companies time to make tens if thousands of them.

The NEC rule for 67" is just to the top of the main breaker with it on. Was 66" for many years and money hungry CODE changed it to metric two meters. Never saw a sparky with a metric tape measure !

Townsends mentioned using sand as a mold release. If making a multi-form consider forming them on flat sand if you don't care as much about consistency and going straight for speed

They wouldn't rent any type of bulldozer without a business license. This was the largest excavator I could rent without one. Actually couldn't rent anything with metal tracks. Even with this machine they still took a $2500 deposit.
@zfilmmaker
@zfilmmaker Год назад
@@GrandOutdoors wow that's insane! I never paid a deposit and James River (local JD dealer) just charges me the rental fees + delivery which I negotiate down. I cover insurance under my farm policy which saves a chunk of money and I don't pay tax either. I have rented everything from a 60k lbs excavator to a compact. I have rented their 655k but prefer the CAT 963. Next time you're clearing small stuff like that, maybe consider renting a Case DL550 or the new Deere 333G with dozer attachment. Several companies make a pin-on root rake for those small dozer blades.

Best thing you ccould have done is get some paint stripper, slap it on there and just scrape the paint off and the remaining paint hit with the wire wheel, at least thats how i did mine and it went quite fast.

The standard size of bricks in Europe is about 228 mm by 108 mm by 54 mm. The bricks are often cut in 3/4 2/4 and 1/4. But remember to take the thickness of the grout into consideration when cutting. For example, 2 half bricks and the grout equals one whole brick. 1/2 bricks are also the same length as they are deep, so a brick that is turned side ways for example in a corner looks like half a brick. When laying down the brick, the thickness of the grout should be close to 12mm, however, it's important to reach the designed height each layer, and since a brick can vary in thickness due to the hardening process, one layer of bricks plus the grout underneath should equal 6.3333...cm or 20cm every 3rd layer. A very popular pattern to lay the bricks in is called running bound, it's a pattern that is both good looking and structurally sound. Bricklaying patterns usually repeats every 4th layer. If you got any questions regarding bricklaying, feel free to respond here and I'll give you my twitter handle.

Thank you Greg. This is a great chipper. My only regret is that I don't have a tractor large enough for the next size up. This little machine can handle some pretty impressive size trees without any issues.

With your mold there are two things you can do to make your life easier. The first is not to lift the mold, but to push out the brick. If you get a piece of wood the same size as the holes in the mold top and bottom then put it on top of the mold, you lift the mold with your fingers while pushing down on the piece of wood with your thumbs, that way the top edges of the clay don't stick and curl like that. Second thing is to coat your mold with vegetable oil (i.e sunflower oil) just before you stick the clay into it (and after each new brick), that will stop the clay sticking to the wood and will just burn off when you fire it. Indeed, the oil combusts so raises the temperature in the kiln faster.

I am a first timer like u , i started using a wooden mold but i noticed that the clay is so sticky even when i soak the mold , so i made another mold out of iton and made the clay very wet and it worked like charm, no cracks no bending or warping and after i fired them , the got some tiny cracks but none exploded ,but for some reason they turned yellow instead of orange or red xD

Coat the inside of your mold with sand, or maybe wood ash immediately before loading your clay. There’s a video on RU-vid that I saw recently of some guys making bricks (they were middle eastern) and they were kicking out probably a 1,000 bricks a day, per man, minimum. And they were using a single brick mold(one brick at a time). Good luck buddy. Thanks for the video
