My name is April : ) I am a married mom of 1 son. We have 1 cat and a 16 year old mini dachshund named Sissy. My favorite color is pink. I enjoy upcycles that can actually be implemented into the home. Trash to treasure is awesome, unless it's creating something that no one will want/use/serve a purpose. I apologize if I sound unkind. It is not my intent. If something cardboard (like boxes) will ultimately be discarded, best without the addition of paint and preservatives. I recycle a lot, but I try to do it responsibly. Don't know if this makes sense to anyone but me. Thanks for reading. I love your upcycled treasures and diys, but I really get the most joy from your personality and kind nature. God's blessings for you and your family.

I’m not great at thinking of good upcycles with actual trash but I’m joining Casey from Coffee With My Sunshine’s trash to treasure challenge on Saturday and I’m going to try to upcycle some stuff. I saved a couple cans from dogfood and I have a coffee can but I will most likely paint them. Bless you! You take care! ❤️❤️

Hi April. Thanks for co-hosting the Useful DIY Challenge with me this month. I love the peg sign, the crackled effect and the aqua buckets on it. The vinyl organizer is pretty cool too. The wood caddy and the little stool are wonderful finds. Honestly I really liked the the pretty folk art painting the peg board initially a lot.

Thank you Corinne!!! 🤗💕 No it doesn't sound negative...you're just stating your preferences 😊 The Dollar Tree DIYs are very popular but there's SO many people that do them lol I just truly enjoy painting and flipping more than DT DIYs and I think it's important to stay true to what brings you joy! I will still do them here and there but will be doing more trash to treasures than anything. You're very sweet, God bless you too! 😊❤️

Really love the crackle paint sign with little buckets. Stay safe. Be glad when this virus is resolved! The media has caused such a panic. I've never experienced anything like this in my 76 years!! Sad state of affairs! Thanks for your videos. ❤❤

I stay informed but I dont watch the typical media for that reason because it really does cause fear. It's a crazy time! You take care friend! ❤️

@@AprilAdairShares You take good care. We served lunch out in the parking lot at the soup kitchen today. They set up tents and all is served on disposable trays. It was up to 80. Tomorrow we must begin sheltering in place at 11:59pm!! If its critical like a trip to grocery or Dr. The police can arrest fine of up to 1000.00 or 180 days in jail. I told the chef I could help if she needed me. I think feeding the homeless is rather critical. I believe the volunteers will be safe if we take care but in my heart I believe we will be protected since we are fulfilling one of God's commission to us, to care for and feed the needy. Then I'll come straight home. I got extra groceries for my son and grandson. You take good care of you dear friend. We'll get through this!! The H1N1 was worse and we survived!! Nite.❤❤

Those old magazine racks are so nice for storage. Being that it was so ornate, would be my guess as to the $10.00 price tag. It is beautiful! I always grab anything with peg hooks on it. You can use them in any room in the house for hanging anything. Good projects! 👍🏻😊

I am so pleased to see you shellac your item prior to painting April! I cringe when I see some DIYers, sand away, paint, then distress on a piece that does not have that layer of shellac. Going via that method, will more than likely lead to tannin bleed through down the road. As for the grit I use to distress, I generally use a 180, though I have used up to a 220, depending on the look I am going for.

I have a sofa table that the top is leather with the nails. With really big heads all around the top and sides do you have any ideas how I can get all that off and paint it ?

#60-#80 / coarse grit cuts through old paint fairly easily. Best, I think, for thorough paint removal. #100-#150 / med grit is used by most everyone for everything. It will distress, but not go through the under layer as readily, unless, of course, you want it yo do so. I think you have more control here. Fine grit is, lol, fine for scratch removal or to smooth between coats of paint.

Love how these came out🥰 And I am very jealous of you collection of projects😃. I usually use 220 grit sandpaper for distressing but it just depends on how deep a distress you want.

I love your magazine rack make over and your plan for it's use!! I have one that doesn't have that many slots, but I think I might just use your idea for the same thing! I've used crackling many times before in the past, sometimes it can be finicky, but I used a different brand. You have some good finds in your "stash" that I hope you share more of your make overs with them in the very near future!

Hi April! I just discovered you on You Tube! I really liked this video and enjoyed watching you turn the magazine rack into a storage container for your vinyl! Clever! Crackle finish is cool. I'm going to retire next year and plan on doing lots of crafts and DIY projects. I love to thrift, garden, and collect/decorate my home with farmhouse country type items! Ok.... I just have to say it....you're so pretty April!! Such a sweet soul too and I just love watching you flip items! We may not have exact items you have BUT you Definitely make me think about some of the items I have and are Not using! Both of these turned out darling and I love that you can now store your vinyl and mats in the last one and it's sooooo cute! Oh and I had never heard of MomDas Life Handmade bc you recommended her I went straight there and subbed her. I will watch her now. ;) Love finding NEW and creative DIY'ers!!!

I just love how you made how you upgrades these pieces 🤩. I haven’t used the crackle but I’ve seen a couple of DIYers use this and just love the effect! TFS, I’m starting to finally get motivation to organize so that I can work on projects using my pretty large stash. TFS stay healthy and safe❤️

I’ve been looking for a magazine rack to put my cookie sheets and cutting boards in but that sheet music stand would work even better. I hope when we get out again I can find one. And I’m willing to pay a lot more than $10 just to find one. In my estimation, that was really a bargain. Loved everything you did today.🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

Both projects are beautiful! As far as what grit of sandpaper to use for distressing, I use whatever works, sometimes the paint seems harder, or perhaps more cured, if I don’t distress it right away, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong. I also use wet distress sometimes as well. Keep up the good work😊

April I'm sorry to hear you have a cold. Definitely need to stay in and get your rest. Is your state making everyone stay in also? Are you able to work from home? You are able to find the best stuff. I like the pieces you have done. It looked like you could of used a small roller in the divided sections. Turned out great any how, definitely perfect for what you are wanting it for. What a great idea for the craft supply organizer. I liked how the crackle turned out. Looking forward to more craft room makeover videos.

Thank you very much!!! 🤗💕 I'm not able to work from home because I work for a medical clinic and we are seeing patients like normal but luckily I work in a separate building with the business office so I do feel safe. I live in Washington and there's a lot of cases here but so far none in my town or too close to us. I hope you're doing good and managing through this rough time. 🙏 My husband also suggested a small roller for that piece....wish I had one. 😊 Take care! ❤️❤️

I love the effect crackle medium makes!! I’ve had mine, forever, but have not used it yet. Time to get my rear going!!
