If you start painting the difficult parts (inside first, under the chair seat, the chair rungs, the legs, etc.) it will make your projects easier as you won’t be having to avoid painted areas. Really like the chair.

I also have so many things from the Dollar Tree that I need to use up. I love all of your projects you did here but I think my favorite is the bunny. I’m with you about painting things and giving them a whole new fresh look. The chair turned out stunning to me and I couldn’t have said that before you painted it! I only started using chalk paint a couple of years ago, but I’m obsessed with it now!!

Use a heat gun or hair dryer on cool air not hot as it does change the paint itself. DT is my favorite store! Lol. Love all of these wooden pieces and chair!

Hi April, love watching this show! I loved the candle holder and the chair, the candle holder with the little touch of gray was so pretty. That chair just screams Spring time. I could see it on a porch or deck with a pot of flowers sitting on it!! Your great, keep up the good work, I am loving the inspiration:)

LOVE the chair!!! That color is so pretty and with the white wash it looks even better! I paint about 90% of the things I buy too.....but lately Ive been trying to add in a little bit more of wood tones but it has to be the perfect color lol. The bunny came out really cute too, love the shiplap look!! ❤️

Your cat looks exactly like my old cat Milo. Same story too...He was left in the apartment above us when the tenant moved out. We kept hearing this meowing and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. It was a week before we figured it out. We contacted the landlord and he came to check it out. There he was, this tiny little kitten, no food and no water! Who in the he** does that? That kitten was mine from that day forward. He was with me with 2 husbands and 3 children. He was the best cat. He lived 18 amazing years.

So for her to just show up like that makes me think she was dumped but luckily she came to our door. It was freezing cold out. I hope my cat lives that long. 🤗💕

Good morning April I learn so much from your painting techniques my favorites were the wood baskets my favorite flowers are lilacs and lavender, I can’t find those “ fuzzy “ flowers at the DT I saw them once a year ago and didn’t grab them 🙈I went back and they were gone, I didn’t see those since then.. I LOVE that chair. I thought I loved the paint color at first, but it looked blue-green at first and now it looks like a pale blue, but it's still beautiful and I love the white dry brush over it. Love what you did with the crate too. I like the font you used. Not a big fan of Rae Dunn. It's ok, if needed to fit on a mug I guess but I'm not crazy about it. I love that you paint everything. I will rarely leave something unpainted. I get so tired of hearing, "don't paint". Some will get snarky about it and I've even heard of hateful no-paint comments. Gee'z! Anyway, loved all of your projects, especially the chair. I love the turned legs on it and the back - how sweet! It's a very farmhouse/cottage style. I LOVE it!

Lol I like the Rae Dunn font but I don't want it on every single thing either because that would be too much...just some here and there. I can't believe I paid so much for that font I used lol

If I use like Apple Barrel paint, I can blow dry it all day, but lately I have noticed with my chalked paint, when I blow dry it sometimes it makes it look really weird and gives it a texture that I’m not looking for lol. So, I know what you mean. As far as having a lot you haven’t used. Oh man! I’ve got it bad! We are getting ready to move and I’m scared my husband is going to throw some of it away. Some of it is from over buying some of it I can’t help it. I buy with full intentions of making certain things but I stay very very tired and sleepy a lot, so sometimes I just can’t get to it because I just physically can’t. Funny you were painting that chair in that beautiful color! I was just at The Home Depot yesterday and purchased the same paint. I love it! The chair looks amazing! I love the bunny. I absolutely love the farmhouse look and I was so impressed by what you did with your trash to treasure. That chair looked amazing when you got finished with it.. Love your finds! The burlap thing with flowers I believe is called a nosegay. Read about them somewhere and I think in the 1800s they were a carried around in order to cover up their smell I think and have something pleasant to smell.

A dedicated crafter ,in my humble opinion, is required to maimtain a certain level of readiness. The last-minute invite to a new neighbor's housewarming. The anniversary that wasn't going to be a big deal, but now it's a surprise party. Woohoo! It's all okay, though, because the prepared crafter has a stash that goes on for days and has everything for every occasion! The prepared crafter isn't a hoarder! Oh, no! They're every bit a hero (and can whip up a cape in no time)!

It all came out so beautiful! Your right about the blow dryer! I noticed on a few channels they rush and it truly shows in their work cause its sloppy. I could never say that though 🤭 having patience makes a difference! I've also seen some rude comments about painting furniture, some believe in sanding and staining wood only. I myself love this trend! If you dont like it, dont watch and keep your rude comments to yourself! That's my motto!

Everything turned out really nice. I have a question on the base retro color you used. I am colorblind more of a tone blindness but I really can not tell what color it is. Is it a gray, pink, mauve or tan color. It is beautiful. I would love to find a little caddy like that it is adorable. Not sure what I would do with it but I must have one. My family says I have an addiction to Dollar Tree. Well I am not saying I don't but my daughter found out she is worse than I am. She's there so much they recruited her! She started part time and within 6 weeks she was promoted to Freight Manager and Closing Manager. Best part is I get a heads up on items she knows I want! lol My sister works at another Dollar Tree but "I'm the one with the problem!" lol They joking tell me well they pay me to be there you give us your money to be there. My reply is usually "And how much of that paycheck did you bring home?" Yeah that shuts them up! lol

Lol that's so funny Myra! I LOVE Dollar Tree! 💖 It's a big problem for me too! I watch someone's video and I want to go buy everything! That's so awesome that your daughter got promoted! Now you have a DT hook up! Lol the paint color is a hard one to pin point but I would say it's a cross between a light blue and a soft light teal. I think it shows up more blue on camera but in person has a teal or soft mint tone. 🤗💕

As far as ‘hoarding’ Dollar Tree craft items, I think what happens to me is I will see people making things with those items and then I grab them when I see them. Unfortunately, by the time I get home with them I have so many projects already in progress that I forget what I was going to make by the time I get around to it. My other problem is I put my craft ‘stuff’ in big totes to store and even though I try to organize by type I forget what I have. I’m trying to do better, lol, but I know if I go to DT I probably won’t be able to resist........it’s the thought that counts, though, right?

April there are a couple of possible reasons your paint is cracking when you use your blow dryer. -If you did more than one coat of paint, the bottom layer was not completely dry prior to applying the second coat. -The blow dryer setting was too high and/or you were not moving it enough. I'm not sure if you've ever used a paint gun, they heat to a much higher temp than a blow dryer obviously, but they will blister and crack the paint, which makes it easier to strip the old paint off, and you are creating that affect with a blow dryer that is not moving enough. I am like you, I love to paint everything, my dad used to joke that I would paint anything that did not stand up & salute! 😉

Lol that's funny about your dad! It's so fun to paint furniture! I want to try 2 things very soon.....the wax technique and chippy paint! Yes I do use the blow dryer on high heat and I sometimes hold it directly over a spot...I'm sure that's why. That makes sense. 😊💕

I too paint everything also even though I am trying hard not to!lol! I cant stand the dark wood furniture so it has to be painted. Normally I lay plastic down I just didn't have any 😊

Everything turned out gorgeous! Here's a great tip for you, if you have several items from dollar tree that you aren't going to use, you can return them and get different items. You don't even need a receipt, you just take them back and go shop for new items 🙂

if you chalk paint direct on top of a varnished surface then you heat it you may find that is when you see crackling.x
