Stoney Ridge Farmer Josh that is an understatement I had 2 goats at one time both goats kidded in the coldest day they could 15 below... that thats when my one goat kidded... 4 babies I thought they were dead by the time I got home from work... a little time and rubbing and warming up baby goats and they were fine.... took me three hours and a milkhouse heater to warm em up..

For your Poly posts. if you put down some rebar into the ground and attach a string to the poly post it will help to get it upright during snow. doesnt work 100%. but would say about a good 80% it will help.

i loved drifting in my old golf cart. the only way i was able to was bald tires though, it was still fun, i miss the old workhorse(ezgo from 1999)

Even the hounds know you're playing! Gotta get me one of them gate closing things. My Grandpa, a real old time farmer from early 1900s, used to say an inch of snow was as good as 500 (?) pounds of fertilizer an acre.

Hi josh I also do gate automation as well as farming I would recommend installing an electric lock on a swing gate connects to the control panel .large swing gate are quite easy to pop open to squeeze in .

Best option is an electro magnetic lock this was as the gate drop an inch later the magnet with alway catch !

turn on the diff locker and leave 4x4 off if possible and then it should really drift

Josh, that was some Awesome drone footage you had at the end of the video! We didn’t get any snow here in Mount Olive, NC, just rain. I like snow, but I just like enough to give a good dusting. Yeah I used steel T post with mine with those plastic electric fence connectors it held up better than that in the snow good luck with it

Coldest , crappiest day , yes . Lost 4 Goat kids three years ago because they were born on a -20 degree day in early March here in Michigan . Yes , they seem to be always born on these days .

i get much better performance in snow with the diff locked, 4wd off, and in low gear. the torque is immense and you really slide around in packy snow

My man. I LOVE your videos. always good. This one is titled 825i in the snow ... buts its not really about that at all. Its more about a drive through after a storm and lots about stuff that has nothing to do with the JD. Still I'm all in on your vids but this one is kinda not hitting the mark

My gator has a "gator silencer" on it...it's loud...so loud that I took it back to my dealer and told him it was unbearable! He suggested the silencer muffler

Do you get ice storms there in NC? As long as the fence falls over before the netting gets stretched and damaged, I guess that'd be okay. You'd still have to round up the goats. Maybe you just need something stout AND electrified.

I can answer that for the "Triangle Area" (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill). Yes, sometimes. What passes for "snow" in these parts is more commonly a mix of wet snow, sleet, and freezing rain. New transplants from climes where they are used to more conventional deep powdery snow, laugh and think, "Oh, it's nothing. It's only an inch or two." Unfortunately, even a thin coating can be deceptively treacherous, especially on the roads.

Nice. Funny too. I grew up in Michigan on a farm. I was fortunate to be in the FFA and made American Farmer. Draft got me and that was the end of that. Been around almost 80 years. I'm a grumpy old f***. Back in my day, I've seen snow up to the top of telephone poles. I've seen pipe freeze down 6 feet under. We'd hook a welder up to the steel pipes. Hook up + on one end and - on other end. End that deep freeze. Remember the comments I made on how to repair batteries? I get a kick out of your videos. TECHNOLOGY. Gator, get ya a Ford 9n. I'm not too sure electric fences can "short out" but it will certianly be hard on the battery charging system and the battery..I turned it off until the snow melts

Drive a semi truck in snow is not fun Friday took 1 1/2 hours to go east Winston to my plant in Advance Nc 33 mile trip. And 5 years ago snaked in South Dakota on ice in semi ended in median. So no drive in snow is limited lost my nerve. They say snow is great for soil and my dad always says seed in snow for better grass in spring. Never tried it in Nc since we don’t get much in Statesville

TimmyTeaBag I’ve chained when I ran coast to coast used to do weekly run from Nc to Kent Washington. So I’ve chained on cabbage. And truck had super singles worst damn thing in the winter.

Hey boys thanks for all you do out in them trucks! I appreciate you! If ya ever see the Stoney Ridge Farm van out on the highway be sure and blow the horn at me a few times! As of planting grass on top of the snow...yes sir it works good...unless you are gonna get a cold snap right after...it's gonna drop to the teens this week....if not I would have been out spreading seed for sure....dont want that seed to sprout and freeze...so maybe next storm

So....behind the scenes here on youtube...folks dont have the attention span to watch much more than 5-7 mins....I have so much more material that I cut out of the vids to make them "move" through the projects and "move around the farm" the long an short of it is most folks loose interest after about 4 mins....the average youtuber gets about 4-5 mins average watch time on their vids...as of today my average watch time is 5:18......the fact is most folks loose focus at about 4 mins
