Traveling back in time on our family farm. All pictures were taken by our grandpa. Luckily we still can look at them and enjoy them. Sit back and travel back in time to the time when an Oliver 88 was a big horse.

I had a Deere 490 planter like that when I started out. Still have some of it left. Father in law got to need some welding iron one day and dismantled it.

In my mind there was no better place or time to grow up than on a farm in the 60s.

Yeah, looks like a great time of life, alot of work, overall seemed to be good. Wish I could have been there to see how it was done. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for always liking and commenting scotty! I was very happy to find those old pictures. Our great uncle has some 35mm of film with video from 58 of oat harvest that we haven't figured out how to get into a video software to upload. Going to have to try and get the tape uploaded as a pt to this video sometime!

Can you run on screen and copy from there ? Just a thought. Y’all probably don’t have the projector 📽

@@gleanerk They have been burnt onto a cd. But our laptops don't have cd drives in them to get the videos from. The computer we can watch them on is not very good and doesn't have editing software on it. Going to try another computer to maybe get the video on a flashdrive but not a set in stone way either. we'll get it figured out sometime though.

Nice to see those old tractors, especially the Olivers, hard at work a long time ago. Brings back memories for me. By the way, the long JD elevator at about the 3:10 minute mark in the video - I still have one like that, that I still use to put oats in my barn. I enjoyed watching this. Thanks for posting it.

I was really glad to find them thats for sure! We have an elevator similar to it also. The chain is junk though. Probably should make a video of it sometime. Glad you enjoyed the video. Really glad we found them! Thanks for watching!

Nice 👍. Aaron Watson is a good choice for a sound track. Similar set up over here, with our same Oliver’s still in service.

I though it was very fitting song for this video! Crazy to think an 88 Oliver was a monster in the field at one time. Thanks for watching!

Pretty darn cool. We had a gehl cutter just like that. How much of that equipment is still on the farm?

Thanks and thanks for always commenting too. The chopper is gone but the corn head is still around but not at our place. I might make a video that shows what we still have from these pictures. Sorta like a before and after if you know what I mean lol

Nice video. Brings back many memories from my time on my grandpa's farm in Iowa. That JD planter is Exactly like the one my grandpa had. What state are u in?

Interesting bale accumulator, was that something offered by new Holland or another brand? Home built?
@cjfarms2239
@cjfarms2239 Год назад
Not sure. We have not been able to figure that out either. Looks like pipe joints screwed together, so looks home built, but im not sure my family would have painted such an item then. So to answer your question, I have no idea 😂 maybe a hometown short line equipment deal????

I started a small dairy in 09 milking 1cow by hand. Had a8N Ford and a dream. Then got a couple more cows and a milking machine. Then a free stall barn, a pipeline and bulk tank and a 961 Ford. Green chopped everything I could get my hands on. Five years later was milking 40 cows. Had a 88 Olie diesel,an 1800A diesel, and a 4010. Then the bottom dropped out of the milk price and you can write your own ending and you would be right. But I lived it if only for a short while. Like the video. Back when it was still a reality.

Similar deal here. The USDA and big corporate AG Worked together to wipe out all competition from small farms. First, they took over the poultry industry then the cattle and dairy farms, now they have their sights on the grain farms. They buy or force out all traditional markets so we don't have a buyer for our produce then crash the prices temporaily, til they are the only processer.
