Farming With A Little Help From Our Friends

You Can't Eat The Grass

We have been so busy selling flower bouquets from our roadside stand and farmers market, that we are falling behind on some tasks. So this week we are getting some help from our friends to check some projects off of the to do list. Our roadside stand is getting a small deck built out front, to increase merchandising space, and help keep the dust out of the interior area. Our shipping containers are getting a roof with lighting and electrical plug ins, so that we can finally start utilizing that space for parking all our small engines. We also made some progress on our dried flower bouquets, as another friend came and helped up get a bunch made and stored away to sell later in the season. The week doesn't just stop with some projects though, we still need to get the flowers off to the market, and this week the bouquets are so colorful and beautiful, it really makes for an amazing display. The question remains though, will the farmers market customers be there to buy the bouquets, or will the maximum amount of competition lead to low sales? You need to watch to find out! And as always, if you enjoy our content, make sure to like and leave a comment, it actually helps us out a lot, and a few more help to really get our content out to those who want to see it!

This channel is going to singlehandedly ruin the need for more cowbell, as music producers start calling for more pruning snips. I envision professional musicians coming into studio sessions with an armful of greenery and a custom case filled with their instruments. 'Hey man. You know what this song needs?... I'm gonna switch from the Fiskars to the Felcos. Check it out. 1, 2, 3, 4...'

Lol, so funny! I've been talking about wanting to learn to use a floral knife for harvesting, but Ian keeps telling me I can't because he NEEDS the snips for the video, lol

@@maryhow9898 I find the snip sound very annoying. A snip here or there would be fine but not for every single time a flower is cut...it's just too much. I would much rather just hear the nice music! I really do love these videos though especially the ones where they are getting ready for the Saturday market. Such beautiful arrangements!

I imagine that takes a crazy amount of time to edit! But wow is it impressive! Thanks for your hard work on the vlogs Ian and Serena!! May I suggest when the winter comes around and you have a but more free time (and we're all missing the flowers)- put out a few videos of snipping flowers to music! Honestly no one will notice or care if we are watching old footage or just a compilation of clips from these vlogs- I think we'd all just be happy to watch (and listen) to more of this super satisfying content.

I love the bouquets that you are putting together now. I have been following since the beginning, the kids are growing up and still doing their part good job mom and dad. I had a stroke on January31 . I like to tease you a little so you bear with me. I pray that you will be very successful. Because you all work so hard. Our farmers market are so boring, it's sad.I live in Michigan so we have been getting smoke from our Canadian friends ,stop burning Please. Stay healthy and strong. Love to you all.

I had to watch the comments about how hard it is to even ask for help several times. Nobody here needs to hear my long sob story, but being so busy, so overwhelmed... that you eventually don't even know what help will actually help you.. oh my goodness... I'm living that. I feel your real struggle, and also feel the love and support and teamwork that you all have and give to each other. Stay strong, stay awesome. 💓

the snips going along with the music did not go unnoticed! Great job Ian! Glad to see help came your way :) Those lisianthus- swoon worthy! That sedum beside your mint!! Wow! The addition to the lower level table was an excellent idea! It really did improve the look of the stand! The staggered height just looks so fabulous! I have become emotionally involved in your flower adventures! And hope and pray that 3G (and more) weeks are the norm! You are my friends too 🥰Love and blessings from Ontario

My business education taught me to hire someone to do the tasks that don't lead to making my income. My then free time can focus on what makes me money or more family time. Consider a call to your local women's shelter for someone to cook & clean for you. She can live in a small mobile home you provide while learning new skills from you. Local college will also have students looking for part time work. Love your design eye and beautiful flowers.

I remember when you guys did $600-$800 a week, so your plans are definitely paying off! People probably don't get how freaking hard flower farming is, but I do. I put together 15 bouquets last week for my farmers market which is 5 minutes away. I thought I wouldn't make it lol. I felt like I was ✂️ flowers for days. My back hurt, my feet hurt. Forget about weeding, I'm pretty happy the season is almost over. You guys still have eleven markets!! 🤪 Lugging one zucchini bin and one cucumber bin was enough to have me panting and wondering if I could afford a migrant worker. Lol. My point is, it boggles my mind just how hard you guys both work. Serina, outside in the dark, still cutting. It's crazy hard work! I just wanted to say that I know what you are going through and I am VERY HAPPY for you that it's finally paying off!!! I learn a lot from your videos every week and look forward to them. You are 👍 and thanks again. 🇨🇦Penny4a PS how long did it take to coordinate the music to the snipping lol. Genius.

Love your videos so much! Watching your business grow has been exciting. I love the idea of a customer appreciation day. It think it should be a free item that the bouquet purchaser can give to a friend if they want and promote your business by word of mouth in the process. Perhaps a smaller bouquet for free or a 4-flower nosegay for free? You would just put one sample on the table with the sign and pull a gift out from under the table for each customer to avoid confusion about whether people can buy them separately. I don’t think you’d want to lower your minimum price point.
