In this honest review of Farthest Frontier, I show off a very small portion of the game and what you can expect if you ultimately decide to purchase this game. Keep in mind this is just my opinion and I completely understand if not everyone agrees with this review. Much respect to all! Thank you for stopping by!

Bought the game when it came out, loving it. You are definitely right that it is a game for the more experienced city builders and for people new to the genre, it can be pretty brutal. But with some experience on other games, even the hardest difficulty is perfectly playable after only a couple of hours learning the game. For sure worth a recommendation for everybody who likes survival city builders.

Thanks for the review but your statement at the beginning that the difficulty settings are way better than those of Anno clearly show, that you didn´t play Anno? There are a lot more options than here and I would even say that Farthest Frontier was inspired by that. But even comparing both games doesn´t make sense. Yes you build stuff but Anno has a totaly different approach.

Hey, ive been following this genre for a while and like to hop in as a beginner. Since you played both can you recommend a starter game? Would it be anno or this one.

@@doohgc I guess both are a bit difficult. Anno can become very complex at later stages especially when you introduce electricity. You have to rebuild a lot if you didn't plan ahead. Farthest Frontier seems to be better but there is a lot of micromanagment. Personally I prefer Anno. With Beginner KI it shouldn't be too hard. Just start it and in no time your hear "You have been playing for 4 hours now. Don't you want to do a break?" 😁

Thanks for the review! Will definitely be picking this up soon! Looks like lots of fun and I love the game design here. Does have some Anno vibes but a bit grittier, perfect for the survival genre.

already buying it and love it. still learning now i stil wonder how to grow the tree.. T,T (dont wanna use gold to plant tree) my first map is no forest near me.. food is plenty but stone and wood are difficult ...

I was on the fence about getting this as its on steam sale at the moment. Are there any other city builders that are not as detailed in terms of logistics, as I am looking for a city builder to relax with, some say Anno but are there any others out there that aren't so intensive to play without too much management

cities skylines, anno 1800, and surviving mars comes to mind as not too crazy like this, but still a really good time

Did you do your research on Anno games? Anno games also have the ability to customize the difficulty and maps, even more detailed than Farthest Frontier.

It looks like an excellent game. A bit strange there is such a limited selection of farm animals but, perhaps, that will be added. No stables I can see or even donkeys. Dogs would be used to keep rats down etc etc I suspect there be many mods in the future :)

is there any games like this that are multiplayer? like a city i can build with friends? i defiantly want to try this game out tho. never played this type of game. i think the most survival/ farming game ive played is slime rancher but you cant compare that to this.

So far I'd definitely give FF a big thumbs up. I've played medievil city builders before and this one has the best crop management system I've come across. Pretty realistic with crop rotations and soil fertility requirements. I find the trading post a bit clunky right now. Maybe it will be tweaked as this is early access phase. Overall though a very enjoyable game with plenty of challenges and discoveries to make.

On one hand people has to buy EA games to motivate the devs to continue (or even make it possible) The problem I have with EA games is that you don’t play the game the devs imagined for the first 6 up to 36 months. And I discovered by playing a lot of EA games that I don’t come back when the game is finished. So I stopped buying them because i like to play the complete version in the end. Even if that means I have to pay a higher price.

I don't understand how they do the setup better than Anno f.e. because they have the exact same features? That comment was a bit of a headscratcher for me. Also the amount of items etc. are greater in Anno it seems, same with the windows for monitoring items & production. They are also completely different games so it's a strange comparison to begin with.

How is this compared with Endzone? I bought Endzone and I found the graphics is very nice, gameplay is very in-depth with many types of resources to be gathered and managed. Can anyone provide a comment of the comparison of these two games?

This game would be SUPER badass if they kept it exactly how it is but incorporated the aspect of CIV where you build up your own nation and can war with other colonies/clans/kingdoms, etc.

@@crazedjester I ended up buying it. I have to say i find it rather shallow and bare bones, and not remotely challenging thus far. In fact it's possibly one of the most boring city builders I've played (and I played them all). I assume it is because it is EA and nowhere near feature complete.

It's Modded Banished but with 200% more lag when the tool tips are enabled. The hostile forces are tower defense AI and will attack random walls. Also can't use coal or alternative fuels, thats a big fat yikes for me. I love these types of games, but this review basically doesn't tell you anything lol.

We need to stop buying half baked products like Early Access. You wound't go to the store and buy a car with only 3 wheels cos it can drive. The developers need to learn to release full games, not some ass shit pre beta half baked full of bugs and unpolish games. We better than that
