Thank you so much for your consistant video tutorials. There is not enough real world studio RU-vidrs. I learned so much and your breakdown helps me feel much less nervous about upcoming photoshoots.
So the honest truth is I have no idea of clicking on your video... but I watched the whole thing. God put me on your path for a reason man because I've been saying for the longest I don't mind catalog frames, but it would be nice to have an off-white, natural look... then BOOM here you are about 4 days later out of nowhere. You going in my pocket my man! HAHA
This video is amazing I love how you walked through your whole process and was so descriptive. In the future could you possibly do a video on the business side of photography such as tips about finding clients, pricing and building your portfolio? Etc. Thank you, for sharing your content it’s been helping me a lot with my growth as a fashion photographer.

Thank you! And yeah, I'll think about how to make the most helpful version of those videos.
So many helpful tips Damien! Thank you so much for sharing. How much would you charge for a 21 items of clothing lookbook photoshoot? Did you use a contract for the photoshoot?
Recently stumbled on your channel. Really like how natural you make the strobes look. It's something I've been after for quite a while for personal projects. Is there any way I can reach out to you privately?

Thank you! Of course. The easiest would probably be on instagram, I have account Damjan Dimic.
Hi thanks for this helpfully video Can you show light setup through a diagram and post processing for better skin and clothes
4 года назад
Hi, for post processing I use Selective color in PS and red and yellow for isolating skin. If you have clothes in same color range its easiest to just mask then on separate layer.
Hi Damien, Great informative video. Thanks for making it. What brand umbrella is your 7' umbrella?
3 года назад
Hi. So I use brand Wescott and its great. But any other parabolic one will work. In some countries Wescott one is really great price and better quality then the rest. But in Europe for example it is not everywhere.
Hey , amazing videos! What modifiers do you have on the lights behind the scrim and what ratio are they powered to your key? Great work buddy

Thank you! I use softboxes, more exactly strips but any softbox or reflector would work the same. With reflector I would just position little further back.
Thanks you for sharing this Damien. What's the brand of your scrim?
4 года назад
Hi. So I use Rapid scrim from lastolite. It's probably the best consumer one. Really easy to set up, it has 0,7 and 1,2 stop diffusion and aluminium body so super stable.
Hi Damien, Great video. For the main big umbrella for a lookbook shoot do you recommend getting a white or silver one? Thanks
3 года назад
Hi. I would always recommend white if you have only one. Even though I have both I use white 90% time and even if I wanted more punchy light, you can do it in post almost as good.
Was it a standard set up where the strobe was mounted on the rear of the octobox? if it was there will still be a hot spot in the centre even though it has diffusion. An indirect octa like the Elinchrom Litemotiv solves this but other wise try raising the height of the octobox so the model is lit from the bottom half of the octa by feathering the light. I have the 150cm version of this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KclraUHsVGM.html
I would like to ask you what kind of backdrop paper are you using ....and how wide is the Paper
4 года назад
Hi, so this is paper backdrop which I use 90% of time in multiple colors. This one is Gray from Lastolite. Width is 2,78m or 9 feet. That is the standard size of paper backdrops.
@ Thank you Damien! I have z6 and 24-70 2.8z + 70-200 2.8 fl. Have you noticed different color/skin tones/rendering between the mirrorless and dslr? i'm thinking about getting a dslr because i'm not that happy with the mirrorless resaults. What are you thoughts and experince regarding that please? will help a lot! thx
Great Video! why was she taping the bottom of her shoe?
5 лет назад
Thank you. So this is a little trick to you one photoshoots. Taping shoes with masking tape make them brand new and more importantly it doesn't ruin your backdrop.
So what do you do when you just have 2!or 3 lights
2 года назад
With two lights, focus them only for model and use lighter gray or white background for seamless fashion gray color. One for upper body part and one for lower. I use it a lot.
nice video, Nice tutorial and nice accent for sure. Btw, any idea why when I turn up my shutter speed to 1/250 the image turn a little black? I am using Canon 70d with Elinchrom 500 ELC pro HD light. I want to have clear image to see the fabric texture or details. hope you can help. just sub to your channel.

Hi, so yes. The problem you have is shutter speed. Eos 70d for example can have at most 1/160 or 1/200 speed. Anything more you either need high shutter speed which is depending on the flash and trigger for it or you will have black bar over an image. But even 1/160 is more than enough because the light from the flashes "freezes" the image so it will be tack sharp.
@ Thanks A lot Damien, I will experiment more again. trying my best to lock down the project. 1/160 f/6 ISO 200 do you think that good ratio ?

Yes. Thats good. I did a quick video about this also if you’re curious about more: Studio basics 101: The Best Camera & Flash Settings And How To Always Have Them Right
hi Damien the video is very helpful, i request you to please share light setup diagram and lights and light modifiers setup and camera setting, we are facing problems in getting right fabric color

Hi, thank you. It would be easiest if you can send me what do you have at the moment and examples of problems. You can do it on instagram.com/damjandimic/ or info@damjandimic.com and I can give you few suggestion. That will be more helpful to you then my setup, while I can also tell you about it.
