Naruto takes place kind of outside any real life time period. It's like a combination of feudal Japan era stuff mixed with modern technology. I've always thought that aspect of it was really cool, but I know it's weird to some people. I kind of just like things that take place outside of any specific time and feel mostly forever timeless.

I like how the highest rated characters would actually unironically win a fashion show in canon. Sasuke is a dream boat for everyone regardless. Ino focuses a LOT on beauty. Shikamaru has such a laid back attitude and indifference that the crowd would fall for him just because he didn't want to participate. Choji would be the wildcard who's expected to completely lose but he ends up on top because Kishimoto is a lowkey troll with his writing. Gaara had fangirls when he became Kazekage, but even before that, he'd win due just purely out of everyone fearing him. And he'd still probably kill one of the judges.
