It was more of a personal choice more than anything. It's a great school and I really did want to go there but things changed in my life and I decided to go somewhere else. I definitely recommend the school however, it was and still would be my top choice in a fashion school because of the price and the education you would get there. hope this helps you! good luck xoxo -miah

By real swatches i meant the actual fabric. In one of the projects I have actual fabric swatches and in the other I have pictures of fabric swatches. if you can't identify the fabric I would just suggest using a different one because it would be better than putting the wrong name on it. Try google searching specific fabrics instead the other way around by finding a fabric and then trying to figure the name of it. hope this answers your question! good luck! xoxo -miah

I got them from a fabric store on 40th street in NY (Elegant Fabrics is the name I believe), usually they cut pieces of it off and staple it to the bolster but I think you can find some in any fabric store xoxo -miah

If you have no experience I would suggest trying to see if your community has any classes available. I know Joann's has classes like this, if you have this store near you. If not you can always use the internet, youtube has a lot of videos to help you learn. Buying patterns with instructions is also a good help as they tell you what to do in a step by step process! good luck xoxo -miah

Hi honey, you do not have to submit the portfolio in person, I don't even think that is an option. The application is all online and you are submitting pictures of your artwork and sewing projects. thelifeofmiah omg thankyou so much for replying you're really kind ❤ if you dont mind can you help me out and please answer some more questions I'd be so so thankful! ❤ - 1) I'm from Sweden and I wanna apply to FIT so how can students apply from abroad? 3) where can I find all the questions and tasks for the fashion design major (like the essay questions and what to prepare for the portfolio) that we need to do in order to get in? 2) does FIT give scholarship to international students? 3) Do we have to give an interview in person before we get in coz I don't live in new york so do I have to travel over there just to give an interview in person in order to get in? 4) do they send acceptance email if we do get in? 5) I took Arts stream for my 11th and 12th grade ( which had subjects like geography, English, history, political science, fine arts, multimedia and fashion designing) so I didn't have math and I wanna apply to go to FIT next year so I will have to give my SAT exam and since I didn't have math, my scores in SAT for math probably won't be very good so will I have chances to get in FIT even then? . I know its really long af but i hope you dont think im crazy im just looking for some answers and i wanna know and be sure before i apply so im sorry but I REALLY HOPE YOU REPLY, THANKS 🙏❤❤

I suggest you look through the site so that more of your questions can be answered probably better than I can. But I will do the best I can. I'm not sure if they have scholarships for applicants but they do have numerous scholarships once you are a student. When I applied there was no interview and I'm almost positive there still isn't one. They would understand your situation, however, and I'm sure they would do their best to accommodate you if there is an interview, perhaps by doing an online one. I believe acceptance is sent through mail still but you will get an email as well. When I applied you did not have to send in SAT scores, I'm not sure if that has changed, but then you would have to have a really good portfolio. Not that they won't look at you academic scores, But they don't completely disregard you if your math scores are bad when you are applying for a design program. I do believe they hold greater weight if you are applying for the business school just because they don't have a portfolio to also look at so they look at you academic scores more in depth. I used a croqui (which is just a basic model) on tracer paper first and then I drew on top of those on marker pad paper. When I was done drawing and rendering the fabrics I glued the finished croqui to a white piece of paper to make it more sturdy and less transparent. Then I cut it out and placed it on a black board with glue. Also I used a glue stick instead of the liquid kind because it looks better. If you have an exacto knife it makes it easier to get the small details cut out. Hope this answers your question and helps! xoxo -miah

They can tell by the size of your croqui, it's a longer stretched out model and since they look at portfolios and sketches all day they can tell if one is a different size xoxo -miah
