it was 2018, i was a broke sophomore in high school, and all i’d use my money toward was h&m, forever 21 and pacsun clothes that were either too tight, had one too many roses on them, or had japanese text that i didn’t even understand plastered over the front. dark times.
When I was getting into fashion in my 20’s, I never thought spending money on high-quality and designer clothing but tbh any clothing that I still have are the designer pieces I’ve bought over the years. I spent way too much money on disposable clothing and all of it wound up at a thrift shop. Now I go for quality over quantity.
As you should. Quality matters more than anything. That’s why I RARELY ever shop at H&M and if I do it’s for jackets/flannels, not t shirts or other things. Literally wearing a black t shirt in bed and it’s so stretched out in the sleeves and other shit. My other hm shirts have ripped
In my 20’s I gave away and thousands of dollars is clothes when the size wave changed. 🤬 I should have been buy timeless shit. Now days my eye is picky and on point
@@isiahpaskins H&M are throw away fashion these days. I remember the H&M stores 25 years ago were so much different, they were like Uniqlo (but better quality)
I literally own 1 piece of Supreme, and it’s from 2016. It’s a Black Sabbath Denim Trucker Jacket, I literally bought it back then bc it looked like a vintage jacket you’d find at a thrift store. It surprisingly gets complimented a lot, and it throws people off when I tell them it’s from Supreme and not an actual vintage jacket 💀
this jacket is my favourite supreme piece ever because i'm a big fan of black sabbath! I got the blue one in L and XL and i wear both depending on the fit i wanna go for :D it took a long time for me to find those pieces. I'm from germany and i didnt even know about supreme until 2017/18
@@philippka2582 Nice! I wear mine consistently during the fall and spring time. Definitely a jacket that looks even better over time with some wear & tear.
I bought a supreme Akira shirt because I really liked the movie as a kid, and it’s surprisingly cheaper to get the supreme shirt than any vintage Akira shirt lmao
Im 15 and I love OG bape stuff. Its just so much history behind it and I love it that its different and that Nigo put his creativity to it. Idk if people think thats ‘cringe’ or not, but I just love the history behind the piece
That’s not cringe, thats just appreciating the history/culture of streetwear brands like Bape. I know people who work at streetwear consignment stores that don’t know the shoe or the significance of it so props to you 👌🏻
I was never able to get OG Bape back in the day (pre internet shopping days) as unless you lived in Toyko/NYC/London or had good connections you were out of luck.
I regret buying ultraboosts in high school. I only got them to “fit in” and I never felt right wearing them. Now I’m trying my best to buy things that I like and actually fit my personality (still trying to find/develop my personal style) rather than what other people think
me rn trying to sell a north face windbreaker (ig I'll stick to thrifted windbreakers, there is no actual difference between a new one and a well-cared thrifted one (unleast its like water resistant or sum))
I think to summarize, we all develop/grow and learn we made mistakes in the past. In one respect, it makes us cringe but it another way we realize that we are making better decisions now. So there is good and bad
As someone who played basketball almost all his life I died laughing when you started talking about the elite socks I still got a bunch of them in my dresser and don’t know wtf to do with em😂
back in my junior of high school i used to go thrifting with my friends every once and awhile. i found a lot of stuff back then that i really liked but now i don’t wear any of it. i love thrifting i think it’s a great way to get quality unique pieces at a cheap price, but i didn’t do a good job at it at the time. back then i would just buy based on how cool i thought the pieces were. i didn’t think about how they fit into my wardrobe, or if they work with my current style or even if they fit me at all. so i ended up with a lot of pieces, especially pants, that i don’t wear or even like any more.
I totally relate to your experience with Supreme. Due to the pandemic, materialistic things like clothes and sneakers became pointless for me. I wasn’t going out to meet friends, going lectures and just out in general like shopping. So it made me think about how important materialistic things are, and nothing hit me more than realising i was buying Supreme just because it was Supreme. And just like you I have clothes and all those accessories i never use anymore. The pandemic just made me more decisive about the things I buy, the only thing keeping my inner hypebeast alive is the box logo, but apart from that, I don’t think i can spend money like I used to on Supreme.
Hands down biggest regret is buying a shit ton of sneakers, trying to "collect" them, didn't even end up wearing all pairs, and having them sitting there taking space and collecting dust, to now having a shell of value while losing a real demand pains me 😭
tbh i only go to the mall for dates or to hang out with friends. i usually never buy anything other then maybe food but it is fun having an excuse to leave your house.
I regret buying into the skeleton hoodie trend, that trend came and went by so quick and got overplayed fast, I only wore it 3 times max, not to mention I spent 90 something on it 🙁
I regret always buying every color or every variation of a trend I really like. I always ended up with four different colors of something that went out of style in months. Finally stopped doing that when I had four different vests lol
While I could appreciate it before, I didn't actively gravitate towards fashion until I was in college. So fortunately, I never caught the HYPE bug. I have two items from stussy and one jacket from Supreme (so purchases within the last year). I'm a longtime skater and love tapping into that fashion when I'm not rocking a "luxe resort/young grandpa" vibe, if that makes sense. So yeah, never really committed the cardinal sin of hype.
I regret buying Saucony when I was SUPER into Sneaker RU-vid, I’ll check in every now and then on some folks now but when all those RU-vidrs got Saucony collabs I feel into the hype. I bought a Ubiq (now Atmos) collab and wore it maybe twice then it just sat in my closet, I think I eventually just donated them 🤷🏼♂️
@darniella dd what JP said is correct, not really my style anymore, but with that said I’m not opposed if Saucony was to put out something I liked it wouldn’t change my mind, what I was referring too was I bought it because I fell into the hype of all these people talking about how cool they were, grant it I do like some of their stuff but giving into hype and buying something I thought was cool or “in style” cause these people on the internet said so, sorry for being so long winded 😅
I definitely regret buying Shattered Backboard 1s, thinking back- I could’ve gotten tons of clothes and more pair of shoes in my collection with those $2,000 I spent. We grow from our mistakes though 💔 Great video !
I think supreme is a thing I will always like because I am and will always be a skater. They do have terrible pieces, but the box logo will always hold a place in my heart especially in highschool in 2010 when I saw my favorite skaters in my area rock it.
My regret is buying slim fit nike drifit/adidas tee, the fit wasn't good enough but i keep buying it. Been loving the oversize/relaxed fit trend lately!
My regrets: -White converse slip on lo-tops. I just use them for sports now -Most stuff I've bought at H&M except their relaxed fit shirts which are really nice. Most of their things are very low quality. -These pants from BR I actually really love but should have bought a bit longer. They're still good for sockless outfits though
Rainbow tie dye t-shirts come to mind but the biggest thing would be buying clothes that just don't fit, like not checking chest, pit to pit and inseam measurements.
hey man! super impressed with your channel and really glad I found it! We need a lot more unique takes on fashion these days and you offer such great vibes!
About a month ago I move out of my house an had to take all the clothes I wanted to keep in two suitcases. Relocated to calif, an realized how bad my fashion had been. It’s crazy how comfort and utility can be forgotten but now those two principals really dictate my sense in clothing these days. I’m currently dressing/creating my closet around the concept of leisure and coziness. Popularity will be hard to dismantle, and it’s mostly about shoes for me that can last me the whole day, walking/running, brands like brooks, hoka one one an adidas. But joggers an shorts are all I really wear with a few good hoodies. But I keep fuckin up an buying cheap hoodie like h&m quality, which was my greatest mistake back on the day-wasting loads of money @ h&m back when the pocket was low. But learning to invest in clothing takes time b/c your budget and the immediate gratification of getting a cheap but “stylish” pieces of clothing alia always seemed more convenient, but I now understand how to limit yourself to purchases that boost self comfort/esteem and drip. quality essentials: Brooks Hyperion 2 Uniqlo oversized airation tee Nike yoga joggers $65-80 hoodies, especially the coo Reddit street wear start up brands that have quality or finding brands on insta that can redefine the look. But give me some good brands an put me on
Since I could remember, my parents bought used or discounted clothing, which is what lead to my love of thrift shopping or a good deal on clothes, I'm starting to express what wear with my clothing. Some items I regret buying were loud colored clothes that I didn't like (buyers remores); bright neon green, purples. However since they were clothes that were discounted or used they weren't much but only take up some space.
Best video Drew what it Do! Back in the late 80s, satin was in style. I bought myself an electric blue shiny satin blouse, wore it once, tarnished my fashionable reputation. Made a pillowcase out of it.
i regret owning so many tracksuits. where i’m from , on top of being a poc, there is a certain stereotype that comes with wearing a tracksuit and a puffer jacket. although i have a solid sense of style (not to blow my own trumpet) i feel like throwing on a generic nike tech fleece most days of the week really limited me showcasing my actual style. to the point where if i wasn’t wearing a tracksuit it was a rare occasion, i used to think it was me not doing too much and looking casually stylish but i learned that you can still put together simple fits that can be simplistic in nature but make you look way better. not to say i still don’t have a few in the collection for the really lazy days but i came a long way from owning 10 versions of the same tracksuit in different colours.
In 2018 I was 14 and all I wanted to do was cop Supreme every week!! I ended up broke always. Last year I dropped $700 on a Givenchy sweater with not a single logo. In the end I totally regretted it because it was six months of my saving money. Now I'm turning to vintage clothes. I'm also getting into a new brand I think is cooler then Supreme ( Born x Raised). Another thing I regret buying is my Off-White belt. I don't really like Off-White anymore I'm becoming more of a Heron Preston fan. I'm trying to go for a more skater look when putting together outfits. I always think about the environment when buying clothes.
I think the lesson is that style/trends change and your style has to mature as you get older. What people wear in HS is not what people wear in college. You would get torn apart for wearing a topcoat and Chelsea boots to HS. The same way you'd get roasted for rocking supreme with Yeezys in college.
Got into supreme around 2012, surprisingly a lot of it does resell still but the market is so saturated you’re better off staying away. I still collect pieces from Supreme but they’re mostly rare collaborations or TNF.
I bought all white huaraches right as I started getting into streetwear/fashion. I bought them right before the new Stüssy huaraches dropped and was devastated because Stüssy was my favorite brand at the time 😔
Back in 2017, i saved up money and bought the insanely overpriced Fear Of God Military Sneakers in a size 43 thinking they would fit me well, but they never did. They were too big even with double socks on, but since everyone was on the Jerry train, i thought i already spent the money so i might as well use them a couple of times even if they fucked my feet up. I sold them just last year for less than half the price i bought them for and i still have nightmares about them to this day.
i regret buying anything from any fast fashion stores/following trends to the T. not only did the clothes not last very long, but even if they did last long, the nature of fast fashion meant that those items were just not wearable anymore after a few months.
When you talked about the Supreme and the Stone Island face, I felt it right in my heart, since I’ve recently bought a sweatshirt from stone Island and now i only want stone island, which is weird because I really haven’t felt this before and honestly I’m trying not to feel like this, since lots of brands are making awesome stuff as well and I don’t really want to be known as the guy who only wears stone island
One of my biggest regrets was how many tees I owned in high school that were mostly branded logos plastered all over the tees. Another regret was me paying for an overpriced bape shirt that I rarely wore and eventually got rid of since I grew tired of seeing it and being reminded of my dumb choice.
After you said pacsun, I just thought to myself I don’t wear my pacsun clothes as much anymore cuz I’m always wearing vintage tee now. But I stopped shopping at pacsun cuz there’s nothing for me to buy there anymore. Thrifting for vintage is so much better because of so many unique pieces out there and it’s always new pieces you’re buying.
Always good to go through those stages of regret to know where to go in the future. My dumbass had an insane amount of Js and now I just wear boots and loafers haha
I never bought supreme or bape but some brands that I have bought from in the past that I regret are all saints, Zara, h&m & some stuff at urban outfitters
A theme in my regrets is that I overlook just one aspect of a piece of clothing, which ends up being a problem when it comes to how I can actually use things. I'll end up getting a color I don't have many things to do with, a fit that doesn't work well with how I'd wanna use it (Or just one I like less in general), I've learned to really think things through at this point. That said, a lot of these things I struggle to incorporate can still end up being put to great use if I'm just patient enough to pick up those pieces of the puzzle over time. Another regret is not doubling up on certain things I get attached to and kinda rely on, but it's hard to resist not just picking up 2 unique items.
well said with Supreme. At this point, if you're rockin' supreme, you just like the brand and honestly I vibed with a couple of the summer tees from this last year and copped a couple, and unpopular opinion but I personally love when they lean into the dumb stuff like the stepladders and inflatable rafts. They're just a lot of fun. Stone Island always goes hard though, though how slim the stuff fits on me doesn't really go with my current aesthetic.
3 years ago went all in buying a pair of balenciaga chelsea boots (square toed) without ever even trying proper chelseas. safe to say they came with a hefty price tag & gathered some dust.
just discovered ur channel man. love the vids. ur content is unique and genuine and your insights are highly intelligent imo. One of my biggest regrets was buying loads of t-shirts with the big ass nike or adidas logo or just t shirts with big logos in general. some brands definitely have some good graphics (im still a big fan of hilfiger) but nowadays i prefer pieces with minimal branding or no branding at all. theres a difference between graphic tees and tees wit just a brand slapped on it and i think its important ppl realise that especially when graphic tees are so popular right now. i also feel graphic tees are a much better way of expressing yourself and ur fashion than a big logo but that just my opinion. anyway keep up the 🔥 vids!
I regret buying some supreme around the time it started to die. My friend and I were at an age where we couldn’t buy what we wanted around 2017-19 at the height of hype culture in streetwear and so when I got money I wanted to get things I couldn’t afford before. Now I have like 2/3 supreme shirts I never wear
Balenciaga Arena's, looking back it was such a waste. I was in college and wanted to flex, I went to school and didnt get a single compliment on them from the people I wanted to impress and ended up selling them for pennies on the dollar.
when i first got into streetwear, one of my staple shops was zumiez. I started into a skater phase (although i never skated) and wore all sorts of thrasher, santa cruz, and other items that will never see the light of day again.
Im gonna generalize my thought and say that i hate buying stuff without having second thoughts about it and seeing something way better than the product I bought.
Giving up a childhood secret in the first five seconds. Bravo I got red white and blue shoes for the Bicentennial when I was a kid. Got abused pretty bad at school for that choice :)
I regret buying my Supreme North Face jacket. It ended up being too big when I began to lose weight and I lost a decent amount of value on it because Supreme is not as hyped nowadays. But we move 😂👊🏽
when I was 15 I bought a black leather jacket like the one Tony Soprano had. I never wore it because I looked like a pencil necked babyfaced teen with an oldman jacket, it sat in my closet for 15 years. Now it's one of my favorites, I sometimes wear a hoodie under it and it has become one of my favorites.
Preme and Palace both have a lot of fire pieces. They got a lot of cool designs and cuts imo. They fit in that skate/hiphop elevated streetwear sector like stussy
I've honestly regretted two JJJJound purchases. I bought the J/95 hoodie and the latest Vans collab and NEVER wore either of them. Ended up selling on Grailed. Love my tote and the V1 Vans collab though.
I rarely regret buying things since I buy things that I enjoy wearing but one thing I really regret was skinny jeans I wore those from 8th grade to my junior year of High School and I was really chubby those jeans were so tight on me and in pictures it made my thighs really big. I buy a palace skateboard and wear it since some things they release are really nice. With Supreme I started buying it since some things they have released are good-looking things. I rarely buy re sell because prices can get super expensive. Also, I enjoy the way you edit your videos something about making it really enjoyable to watch
Nothing is wrong with supreme as a brand, tbh they are the most influential brand of OUR generation I would say, seeing as virgil, Mathew williams, jjjound and samuel ross some of the biggest designers of our time are heavily influenced. Also how every major designer brand has jumped on the streetwear wave and how amped up limited collabs have been in recent years. I think its moreso the fan base that ruins supreme for most, myself included. The thing though that I have always loved about supreme is their relatively affordable price points. How a piece that you could buy for $40 if you were lucky (talking bout them t shirts) could be as luxurious as any designer product. THAT to me was what made them so cool and how so many of our favorite icons in fashion and hiphop culture rocked with the brand. I dont think supreme will necessarily die down as they are a brand that feeds off the culture of that present time or on nostalgia.
I've had a love for clothes since I got to highschool and everyone was wearing what was "cool" at the time. I started to build a wardrobe which was full of pieces that were really nice. My biggest regret was not being able to style my outfits at all until I found my own style in just recent times.
I think supreme is a good intro brand into fashion/streetwear they do still have good non hyped pieces and that's what I look for im good on all the hype items like box logos but my biggest supreme regret was paying resell for a supreme box logo hoodie the good news when I sold it I pretty much made my money back so I guess they only regret was giving into the hype but another fashion regret is buying mnml zipper jeans and h&m joggers
I spent all of HS wearing and buying nothing but Vans. I still have a pair or two in my wardrobe but I had amassed a ridiculous amount of vans and never wanted to wear another sneaker
recently found your channel and i love your thoughts and ideas on fashion, and i love the helpful advice you give, i was wondering what you think about archived fashion and gorpcore type stuff? love your stuff dawg stay positive🙂
I also have a bunch of Nike elite socks and still wear them everyday 😂. They are so comfortable and I have not been able to find a more comfortable sock. I normally wear baggy pants with my fits so you can’t see my socks anyways.
Bro just bought 2 pairs of Dickies 874, some olive green and light brown pants, a pair of new balance, a hoodie, and some shirts. All for hella cheap from thrift store or depop. I feel like my style is coming together and my fashion level is going up. Thanks bro u really helped me🔥
I’m a massive supreme fan, buy quite a few tees every now and then but I’m more about the quality and fit of their tees that I like, also knowing that even worn, I can get my money back or make profit when selling the item. But I’m also a bit of a skateboarder look guy and their stuff just fits perfectly into that shell
Off white belt. Yellow one. I looked like i had a meter around my waist. Ultra boosts. I didn't look at the colors, they were bright orange and i looked like a highlighter
I have SPRAYGROUND backpack with wings and it's literally the best backpack I've ever own. I'd pay double it's price for second one cuz I really love that boy bro. Quality is on point design is sick like everything is top notch.
I remember forever 21 H&M I used to shop at those places a lot when I was in high school and I regret that a lot because I spend my cash on even though I couldn’t get a job I was in high school but Forever 21 H&M or my biggest regrets of buying for fashion
Skinny jeans, yeezy 350s, hypebeast items in general. When your fashion sense elevates you realize quality and character in a piece outweighs a big hype brand slapped on the front of something anyday.
I definitely regret buying the platinum stussy spiridons, I got them for retail but I think I’ve worn them like 2 times and that’s it, mistakes were made.
I bought a bape college tee a few months ago(as i started getting into this type of fashion) and it was tight and I still wear it sometimes but man is it uncomfortable🥲
Still love Preme. Born In 93 Grew up skating and love the brand. They make drip and they still make a lot of quality goods. There def are hypebeasts that ruin it but that’s everything
It’s 2022 I still love supreme, I like how it fits, only difference with me I buy pieces that I would love to wear not resell, I use to buy like one thing a week but I chilled out it’s hit and miss with their designs
Kind of on the fence of regretting buying supreme. I do know I am kind of buying fir the brand, but I also like how it looks. They compliment each other and their graphics are actually pretty nice sometimes. Also i havent spent too much money as it all totals up to around 300
