A crucial decision of any digital design process that results in a physical object is defining the transition points from a digital to a physical environment. Can fashion XR tools truly replace interacting with physical textiles? In this session, speakers from University of the Arts Linz and The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) explore how robotics can transform processes, providing 3D manipulation of real prototypes of garments. Through the integration of collaborative robots, we blur the transition between the digital and physical to foster new ideas and more flexible approaches in apparel design in true analogue-digital processes.
