Beautiful boat. Probably one of the nicest Montauks I've seen on the FB page. I especially appreciate it being all original. I have a 1980 Newport 17 with a Montauk center console rather than the standard side mount. My Newport is also all original, including the louvered doors and teak trim work, all the rails, the RPS, the windshield, bow mounted splash shield and it even has the OEM aft casting deck with Capitan's chair. I've repowered with a 2005 Johnson 115 2 stroke. I keep it covered when not in use and it gets a lot of TLC.
Gorgeous restoration, just brilliant! I have 1978 all original, garage kept through 3 owners. I'm having a tough time as I'm downgrading to a mostly freshwater aluminum walk through. I will miss my Whaler of 25 years, but it is going to my wife's young cousin so I will still have access to it. I'm getting older and figured I needed something less open with more protection from the elements. Awesome job!
Well done! I love what you did and especially that you remained true to the original look! The upgrades could have been original. I'm partial ( 86' Montauk) but these are the best years with the Teak trim! Love em!
My dad had this boat when I grew up. 70 HP Johnson from the 70s and it was a dog but we loved it. Sick job dude if I could afford this I'd totally ask for one exact.
Beautiful boat. Luckily I was able to buy my 1st real boat on Superbowl Sunday of 2020 right before the pandemic. I have a 88' Newtauk (Newport converted into a Montauk). I love that boat and doubt I will ever sell it, I'll give it to my son and daughter when I can't use it anymore. Fishing and surfing in So Cal....so much better with a Boston Whaler. Again, beautiful Montauk you have there, I would never sell that one.
I’ve got an 83 in pristine condition used in nothing but high mountain lakes in Idaho. I’ve owned it since approximately 86 and when it wasn’t in the water it’s been stored indoors. It’s the kind you look for. It’s going to be sold one of these days as my boating days are over.

Definitely interested. Send pics to read@fasseco.com
Beautiful work! I'm partial to these boats as I have an '84 Montauk in great shape as well. I'm curious as to what a restoration like this costs? Can you shed any light on this?
Beautiful work on that boat! Proud owner of a restored 1980 Montauk 17. Would like to know the wood you used for the back seat and how it is secured. Great idea.
