It’s great to hear from someone who has years of experience with the clipper. Was looking for the best clipper to upgrade my home cuts from the shitty old remington I’ve used forever. The tips about ceramic blade and magnetic guides and links were extremely useful. Thanks!
RU-vid Barber Academy Yo Bro.. is it normal that my Fast Feeds are getting hot? I just bought them and used them for the first time today. They are not super burning hot but hot enough that my son says “it’s hot”. And that’s one of the reasons I bought them. All the good reviews and the fact they don’t get hot from what I’ve seen. But after trying them.. I don’t know if it’s normal or if I should send them back? I did change the blade to a ceramic blade by the way but I wanted to ask a barber because I’m not one. Any knowledge on this issue?
@@wearewarriorseaglesjaguars6342 Well if you áre cutting for an hour, yes it gets hot, but less with a cerámic blade. All clippers gets hot if you uses for a long period of time.
Thank you for explaining 0 Gap so a non barber school, non pro can understand the terms and various pros and cons of the tools you use every day. As a carpenter, I could do the exact same with Saws, Chisels, Hammers, Drills etc. because I buy and use and keep certain ones for how they perform out of the box, to 40 years later. I love how you threw in mentioning that little sprayer in the end too.
You always give the best detail information and descriptions. Keep up the great work. This help so much.. very informative. I went back to my Fast Feeds too. This time when really checking them, the fast feed give's a beautiful fade, there's no comparison.
Bro thanks so much for pushing this clipper. I finally bought one again and put on the ceramic blade and man it’s a game changer! My blends come out softer and it takes me less time fading
That's crazy, I was given my fast feeds from a barber I worked with cause he said the pulled. That ceramic blade makes all the difference. He seen me using them making buttery fades and he was like how did you fix them
I have the ceramic blade on mine, and I started to really like cutting with them, but then they started pulling. Is it probably just that the ceramic blade is dull?
CRAZY Truth! I don't a lot of time in the Marine Corps, I cut my hair simple-ALL OFF. when time is everything, hair prep in the morning was wasted time. I spent...WASTED money on more cheap Wahl clippers than I can remember. Fast Forward... Outta The Corps but STILL rock the Mr. Clean. My Dad was a barber over 20+ years both in and out of The Navy. He told me years back, INCREASE IN OSTER! he retired and have his Oster set to the incoming barber he trained. The Fast Feed was my 1st Oster clippers I bought November 2018. I was blown AWAY. I Did the Andis Ceramic mod, Zero-gapped, and haven't looked back. I just wish I knew about this setup years back!😏
I’ve been watching watching a lot of reviews on clippers and these oster fast feeds really caught my eye ur review is definitely the best u explain so we’ll. I’m a beginner barber and am trying to save up enough money to get my hands on these. Thx for ur help
This was my go to clipper . I could run it for 13hrs haircut after haircut , with just some spray , and not heat up or give out on me. Most durable clipper I’ve had in the past compared to wahl or andis. I’ve dropped them plenty of times and they would hold up like champs ! Like any clipper though , they had some drawbacks. The lever would always give out , so much so that even at the salon supply they wouldn’t have anymore levers to sell. We have to wait 2 to 3 months for the next shipment. I even had to improvise and took the lever out and stuck t outliner screw in there to hold the blade tight enough so it wouldn’t open while cutting. I use to open and close it manually with my palm lol. You gotta improvise sometimes. I noticed that it was just a little plastic piece that moves the blade up or down. Pretty poor design on that part if you ask me , after so much wear and tear that little plastic piece will just tear off. I’ve always wondered why not just make it with a metal or aluminum lever since it’s an occurring pattern on most fast feeds. Or at least harder plastic like in the wahl levers. Have you had the same problems with the lever ? If so what’s your solution to it other than just buying a new lever. I know they’re inexpensive but when it tears on a Saturday like around 3pm and you don’t have time to just stop and go to a salon supply it can be pretty annoying .
Greetings from Tijuana, Mexico. happy 2019 bro thanks for all that helpful tips and info I'm a beginner but, I'm now understanding more how to fade and cut, srating to feel good about that. man take care and God bless you
Coming from whal cordless seniors and magic clip my fades are faster and crispy!!! Spent alot of money on clippers and finally i coped me some topaz with a ceramic blade and dam! These are all i need for fades now definitely a great clipper for the price.
@@RU-vidBarberAcademyalways hesitated in buying them was stuck on Wahl these are just a beast love everything about them from the long lever throw to the quietness and 1st gen gaurd system .. thanks for all you're vids tips and knowledge !
@@MrJGSTA I went back to them also omg with a ceramic blade beautiful buttery blends don’t care to pick my seniors again and I lucked up on the 1st generation gaurds
@@tydeshawn125 For real been rockin with these and my new corded masters had to go with corded so much quieter then the cordless and honestly with those 2 thats all I need in the shop and the cuts come out fire 🔥
I used a pair of these in barber school I didn’t like the feeling in the wrist but I’m thinking of buying another pair cuz they did knock out the bald line good
@@dolbowen150 No problem man, glad I could help. I love my Wahl Seniors but it was always a pain getting the blade just right trying to zero gap them. The Oster detachable No. 1 on the Fast Feed is great because you don’t really have to fiddle with it, it just locks in. Definitely saves time when taking your clippers apart for cleaning and maintenance.
I know what you mean . I still have the firs set of nano guards. They are perfect. I have a new set now and the are flimsy, have less teeth and the magnet separates from the guards. I had to glue them down .
hey man your growing on me your starting to be one of my regular youtube guy . like jeez and bosio the video that got me is the clipper over comb one. i see your a guy that get high debt into expelling thing and that exactly what i need man. keep em coming.let talk about the bottom line from the tripper to the zero close i have trouble removing that line, also how to remove dark spot in a fade. i faded this guy up using all the basis step but i still see dark spots from that zero close to the 1 close how do i remove them lines. thanks
I don't know if someone answered this, but did the Fast Feeds come out around 1985-86 (so mid/late 80's)? I started out then and I thought they were new, up until then I had only seen Oster Classic 76's and the only adjustables were Wahl and Andis. Thanks for all your videos and reviews. This one is great, especially knowing how the ceramic blade improves performance.
I'm back again Eddie, the knowledge you're dropping in your videos is priceless! I have a fast feed with andis ceramic blade but it's longer in the middle. Have you ever had this? I'm thinking of trying another from your link to hopefully get a straight one! Do you think a longer middle will make a difference in the cut? Let me know what you think cheers
The Andis ceramic have that defect of being uneven. I used to have one like yours. I recommend buying a non-Andis brand from eBay or Amazon as they have even teeth, which comes in a nice little transparent container.
They use a ceramic blade so they can zero gap the blades the ceramic blade allows you to line the teeth up to make the blade cut closer …me I like and left my original blade it comes with
Mr Eddie. I ordered my fast feeds today from Atlanta Barber Supply online along with the Andis coarse cutter ceramic blade and the Andis purple double magnetic plastic guards. Can't Wait !!
I had heard that when you install the ceramic blade you have to get some sandpaper or file and Sandy plastic edges of the fast feeds a little bit so the ceramic blade can move freely
Mine makes a noise not as smooth as straight or off the box? They fell once ,the smooth buzz is gone. I've been inside nothing's broken or cracked. Hope u you could assist me in getting my smooth hum back.
Man what do we need do for a chance to win the clippers . I just dropped my master while I was cutting a man's hair at school and they broke smh couldnt even finish the haircut my teacher had to come Finnish it lol one of the most embarrassing days of my life. So I best believe imma do whatever to enter to win
Nice one bro... got everything but the ceramic blade... is that why the body of the clipper gets so hot after only two cuts? Plenty of oil on the blades too
Mann I feel u on this! I bought a pair of limited edition fast feeds and I did not like them because I tried to zero them and it didn’t happened so I sold them now I want to try them again but the original , I don’t know if there is any difference bt the two but I will invest once more in the fast feeds!👊🏾
I zero gapped my fast feeds with the course cutter and it works good only problem is when I open the lever all the way it makes a loud noise any tips to fix that ??
I fix ir removing some material (I sand it) from the back of the blade, the opposite side of the blade, and push back this metal thing that holds the plaatic sky, unscew it push ir down, scew it back.
Awesome review the fast feeds cut really well with the ceramic blade but I also noticed the blade will loosen up and slip out of place once in awhile and I’m not sure why that is? Does anyone have this problem or know why this happens?
Oster should just start making them with the ceramic blade on them and get rid of those cheap slide on guards that come with them. Im sure their sales would go up
When I first got my pair they were fine and i put the andis coarse cutter ceramic blade and after 2 months the blades started getting loose when cutting long hair and i have to tighten the screws again but it doesnt fix the problem. and it makes a loud noise
Awesome video mate! I realised coz I do a lot of straight hair - I needed to put the ceramic blade on it. There’s a couple of ways to install the ceramic - which way / video do you recommend I follow? Cheers🙏
Say Dawg, Can You Help me with something,.. I Have to original Oster Fast Feed and I Noticed the clipper blades are (Like you mentioned,) Sticking/Freezing in my hair and Not Cutting Through (Like They did when I First Bought Them) My Hair Length is Like a 1.5, Is There a Solution To This Problem? What's The Best Blade combo For ZERO gap and Anti-Rust? Please let me know Stay Safe & Healthy Brotha!!
Hey man been really watching your channel definitely a lot of great info that most barbers won’t or don’t talk about but I started out using wahl guards but everyone mentions the andis guards with fast feeds....what is the difference between andis guards vs wahl is it worth changing over? Thanks
Thank you for the information. I’ve had my fast feed for over ten year’s but the screws unscrew when I use it do you have any suggestions for me. Thank you in advance
mine broke the first time i dropped them. The plastic by the lever broke. Just ordered a set of magic clips but havent opened them yet cuz after watching this i might return them and replace my feeds instead. Got any advice?
Hey is this setup good?Thinking of starting to cut hair, i’m 16 and my friends r going to let me fade them for practice. Andis Profoil Shavers Andis T Outliners Oster Fast feeds or a cordless Wahl Magic clips. Can’t decide between the two. Also where would be the best place to purchase my supplies?
nathandejesus unless you can drop $300-$400, just get Oster Fast Feeds, Andis Ceramic Coarse cutting blade, and Andis double magnetic guards. Get used to cutting and grow a strong foundation. Then you can start investing in more equipment. You can use any ol shaver from Walmart/Walgreens like Panasonic or Braun, which are inexpensive. And don’t forget to buy disinfectant and Santizers like Barbicide/Clippercide.
for beginner I would take the magic clips. Fast feeds are exactly that they are for quick cutting. I would recommend that you do basic haircuts like 4 all around or 3 all around to understand the motion of holding the clippers, and understanding the lever.
Are these just for fading? I got a pair, put the ceramic blade in and started with a #2 guard. The client had pretty thick dense hair and it just wouldn't cut through it. It pulled so much I stopped right away and had to switch clippers... Am I missing something?
Hey what’s up Eddie , somebody else mentioned in the comments about after putting the ceramic blade on the Fast feeds getting hot fast and it making a noise when you fully open it it sounds like the bottom of the cutting blade touching the lever mechanism, is there any thing i can do to fix it ?
So first off thank you for the pro tip been struggling to zero gap my fast feeds so thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻 only problem now is my 0 guard pops off every time I turn it on. I use the double magnetic andis guards.. I’ve tried adjusting the blades a thousand times can’t figure it out.. any tips? Or other guards I can buy??? Preciate it
You have to move back that piece of metal that holds the kind of plastic sky, unscrew ir hold it down while you screw it again. That push the blade a bit down.
You actually CAN 0gap the Fast Feeds by cutting the bottom bracket or harness the stock blade rest on. If you have a pair of snips, you cut the bottom of the hole that the screws go into. Raise the bracket up and then attach the stock blade, position it so the blade is not over the combing blade, then screw into place. Anyway, great tip about the ceramic blade. My stock blade is fine on my texture hair, but I'll try the ceramic blade.👍Here's a video on how to do it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YlXaZU33UGw.html
how can i tell if my oster fast feed is the crappy old version? it has the silver emblem vs the newer black emblem but i can’t tell how old it is, i bought it used , thanks
Hey, would you be able to link the ceramic blades for your Canadian subscribers please? Due to Covid19 some of these links are down and stocks are low. I'm really considering buying these, but I really want to get the ceramic blade you recommended, thanks!
@@RU-vidBarberAcademy Thank you, really appreciate this! This is the one I'm looking at on amazon Canada "Andis CeramicEdge Ceramic Coarse Pet Replacement Blade Cutter, Size-Coarse (64440)" I'm not sure if this would fit the Oster fast feed?
