It is warm enough now, that the storm water is like at bath water temperature. People just need to make sure their drainage openings are free of garbage and leaves.
Use tools instead of your hands please. A rake will not bleed after "finding" a broken bottle. Also rubber boots may be a good investment. Doing good work without harm yourself is doing better. People like you makes the world go round a little bit smoother!
Air has to escape to let more water pass through the pipes. That's why you get the bubbling. So satisfying to clean these street drains! Thanks for posting!👍🏻😊
I remember seeing a news report from Detroit a few years ago. A lady was complaining that the city didn’t clean the drains and they were standing by a drain grate with a plant growing out of it that was several feet tall. I think she said they had called the city several times to have it removed. I’m thinking, bend over and pull it out instead of calling and complaining.
Your going to be the Post 10 of Detriot, Post 10 is a guy who does this for his local towns in Massachusetts he has even gotten the state DOT who is supposed to do this kind of thing to actually do their job, so I'm glad to find someone new to watch Thanks for posting
Thanks for showing how the street looks after the draining. Not only it's satisfying to see the whirlpools but also seeing that the street is getting cleared up.
I came here right after watching post10.. Thank you guys!!! New people is cool... You are doing 1 of the 3 things humans like the most 1) watching fire, burn 2)watching water flowing 3)watching another man working! 😀
Get you some Post 10 style waders and a metal rake... if you can get a shout out from Post 10, you are on your way to being legend. Tons of viewers out here who LOVE drain opening content. Love this! You did a great job....even got us some double whirlpools!
Great job, was born and mostly raised in Detroit a loooong time ago. Hepatitis, hepatitis, hepatitis - please wear some gloves and boots that way you won't get sick and continue delivering us these great videos of the great work you do.
The city cannot keep up with every drain. Rake up leaves and much of this kind of flooding can be prevented. Glad he helped out…four weeks of flooding by the sound of the conversation.
congratulations for your initiative. It's no use mayor governor or president. if each citizen does not do their part. I'm from Brazil here the basic and precarious sanitation. And I admire people like you in a first world country taking this initiative. I wish our children of the future to learn from you
little tip for you. When you rake the leaves out of the water, don't pile them up right on the edge where they are going to get flushed straight back into the water in the rain storm. Get them right out of the way further back on the grass.
thanks! and since ive posted these videos a few people have mentioned Post 10, i didnt know who he was before hand. just checked out his videos last night. i enjoyed his content
@@detroitdraingang5037 Oh gosh, he is a true find on here and does a lot of good work. His unclogging videos are those to which prospective " drain uncloggers " aspire. 😀
@@detroitdraingang5037 As you watch more and more, and post more and more of your own content, don't be surprised if you see Post 10 mentioned more and more. He is a legend. 😄 He has even inspired kids on YT to follow in his footsteps. 😀 He has had various types of formal training and is very knowledgeable. He seems like an all around great guy. I have already subscribed and hit the notification bell in anticipation of your new unclogging videos ! 😃
@@detroitdraingang5037 - I definitely recommend Post 10’s channel. You’ll learn a lot about safety (steel-toe rain boots, not reaching in blindly with your bare hands…) appropriate tools for the job, how the water behaves in different situations, and what can go down the drain vs what should get moved out of the way. Sounds like your street floods a lot. Decent rain boots and a metal rake might be a good investment 😉 Satisfying video. Thanks for the content!
the soft plastic rake might be ideal for dry leaves, but I'd strongly recommend a stiff metal rake, not made in china, for best results! And you can also use your feet sweeping the leaves and sediments through the grate like Post 10 does very efficiently!
Shes so cute with her shoes in the water. You guys are my fav. I love the rain especially because I was born in Mexico city. Now live in southern California desert where we don't get any rain so these vids are heaven to me😁Thank u for posting them and the work u do👌👏👏
Good job. I do the same where I live. I find moving my feet from side to side and letting the leave go down is a lot quicker. Just remove sticks and garbage. Leaves biodegrade so it’s fine to let them go down into the sewer. 👍👍👍👍👍
You have a rake and your using your hands!!!!!! Never put your hand in some place you can't see what if there were glass or now a days needles in the mud and grass.
Great job👏🏼👏🏼. Try to rake those leaves a little higher up onto the easement, so there is less chance of them washing back into the grate. Keep up the good worl😊
Would it help to keep the leaves in the gutter cleaned up so they don't clog the drains? That house in front of the drain opposite you needs to have the lawn edged when mowed so the grass doesn't grow over the curb. Those are beautiful homes!
When you drain a street bring a can of yellow safety spray paint and paint the curb near the drain so you can find in future. Gloves and boots recommended too
How many comments comparing post10 with this guys and others work. So irritating to see, just let people do it how they want. Post10 can be too reckless and obsessive about floods.
Man you have some balls putting your hands in there, mlk and Cass flooded last year. Wasn't any chance of me putting my hands in there with all the stuff floating around
you might mention along withe these videos, every piece of paper, candy wrapper and can that gets tossed from a car, helps clog street drains! Dont litter!!! if you can carry it full, you can easily carry wrapper out! litter may keep the unsightly nice, it also helps keep neighborhoods from flooding! there is more to it than loooks!
I try to keep the curb clear of leaves and other debris as much a possible. problem is the cars parks 24/7 that rarely move. and it floods every time it rains heavy
Use the rake you have in your hand, and, I would not be walking barefoot in the street! All those trees have sent roots up in the drain pipes. If it happens all the time, that means something is wrong. Call your local town road maintenance.
