I think it is rude to bypass the content for that. They need to go to Italy....I met a lady wearing spagetti straps and it was so long it was brushing against her sides. Must have been 3-4 inches..it is common there. The women don't care there. Geez... Latoya's was a shadow..so what. lol
I loved this video! I do the alone vera pre-poo, but for itching and scalp issues so I start at my scalp and work down. I also, don't care about armpit hair. I try and do mine 1 month, but some times I don't have the time
To reap the full benefits of the fresh Aloe Vera, I don't use it as a pre-poo. I pre-poo with an oil. I apply the Aloe Vera to my hair after the shampoo step and cover it with a plastic bag while I do housework. After completing my housework, I add the deep conditioner with the Aloe Vera still in my hair and sit under a hooded dryer for 30 mins. My curls are extremely defined and my hair feels moisturized. I have been doing this for almost 3 months and my length retention is through the roof because my breakage is minimal. I wash my hair every 2 weeks and I don't refresh my wash and gos or twists because the moisture lasts for 2 weeks. I would not push wash day beyond 2 weeks.
I find my hair routine is fastest when I don’t wait to do it. But I also timed myself a few years back-I detangle fastest when I do it at the prepoo stage, 2nd place is detangling after a deep condition, and it takes me the longest when I do after shampooing with a slippery rinse-out conditioner. So for me, prepoo wins. And I only use one conditioner, either rinse-out or deep conditioner, during a single routine, never both. And I only detangle once.
I love this! I feel the same. My detangling routine is SO MUCH faster with prepooing, but I have days I don’t feel like it lol! Most of the time I condition and deep conditioner though. I only skip when I run out of product. Lol!
Man! That Law & Order sound is the text alert I have for my husband. I thought my brand spanking new phone was messing up because I "thought" I got the alert but no text lol!!! I have to start the video over because I was so distracted I'm scared I missed something. 🤦🏾♀️🤪
Last week, I didn’t prepoo like I usually do, and CHILE!!!!! Talk about a headache during detangling! Like literally! Getting the shed hair out, and trying to detangle at the same time was too much! Kudos to anyone who has mastered not doing it, cause I need to keep my prepoo step
Yeah, doing what's best for you hair is the ticket. I'll skip it if I can, but I really enjoy detangling with prepoo. Depends on my mood lol! I've been there with the long detangling sessions. Not fun girl!
The main reason I dread wash days is not even about the time it takes.... But the cold I feel when I'm twisting and applying deep conditioner while in the shower.... I don't like wasting water, so I usually turn off the shower when I'm doing this...
I don’t DC in the shower. I wrap up in a towel & do it at the bathroom sink (mainly for the mirror) then put my heat cap on. I shower after rinsing it out
Hi, leave-in conditioners do the same thing as conditioners. You should try only washing and get out of the shower to apply your favorite leave-in conditioner if you don't want to waste water. I know plenty of Black women who do that routine. Just because brands tell us to buy and apply 10 products, does not mean we have to. Give it a try and see if that works for you.
I don't understand why people dread wash day. I have thick 4c hair, and it takes about 90min including, wash, DC, and style. I don't use a ton of product, castor oil and water. It's better than going to a salon every 2 weeks, paying $60, and 4 hours of my time, between travel and the appt.
I understand, but I no longer feel that way. In the beginning of my journey I was doing entirely too much lol! It took a few years to simplify it, but now I love it. It’s a habit and it’s helped so much in my length retention to do it weekly.
It's a lot easier and less expensive than the salon but I have plenty of friends whose curl patterns are either looser or non-existent (non-black ofc) and duh I love my hair but I wish wash day and detangling just wasnt a thing, like they don't use any products other than shampoo and conditioner, no bonnets, satin pillows, no moisturizers, no prepooing, the extent of detangling is brushing for like 1 min a day and their hair is down to their butt and within a year they could cut to a bob and be back down to their back, but if I don't use a satin cap leave-in conditioner, and oil at the very least my hair would personally strangle me the difference is astounding
I agree with LaToya I think the biggest factor is that when you don't know a lot, you do too much which is a bit ironic lol. It's always a learning process. For example, I used to wear pre-poos overnight or deep condition for hours, but it's important to realize that if the DC says it works in 30 minutes then it's supposed to do that if not then it's onto finding another one. Sometimes less can be more and more can be less and a big example is how finger detangling can be tedious, but shouldn't be rushed in order to not cause brekage
3:58 Finally! Another type 4 natural who does not like that Shea Moisture deep conditioner. Everyone else raves about it but my hair does not like it at all! And I’ve tried it several times to be sure. The slip is horrible and it has such a weird, gross consistency. It just sits like a slab of paste on my hair, does not sink into my strands like others DCs and is a pain to wash off. It does absolutely nothing for my hair. *rant over* 📢 😖
Toya, we need a makeup tutorial. I’m not a huge makeup person but this looks simple and gorgeous and like my non makeup self might be able to recreate this😂
Yes to shorter wash days. When I first went natural (October 2020) it use to take me about 4hrs...but I got it down to 1 - 2hrs in December. Wash day doesn't have to take all day ladies :). Great video, and your hair looks AMAZING at the end!!!! I only do the 1hr wash day if my scalp is feeling Irritated mid week...or I did a wash and go. I cant leave gel in my hair for a week, it causes A LOT of breakage.
I've been using DIY aloe vera since quarantine started and my hair has grown exponentially. I think I'm gonna try using the African pride prepoo and see if it like it
The african pride pre-poo really makes my detangling process easier but i will have to try the one hour washdayy cause i be spending 3/4 hours on washday and i can't anymore .
😂 not called out! I shall give you an update on the prepoo routine soon and very soon. Fast and efficient routines are a must. We grown and busy out here 🙆🏽♀️👏🏽
Just thinking about wash day triggers me. I'm traumatised yall. Lol. but I just did mine in sections and it was so much easier. I reccommend it to anyone who hates wash day too. I'm going to try aloe Vera so many people have been raving about it including yourself. All for natural products 😍
Fresh aloe is fun!!! Don't be done 😁 Great vid. I've been doing it for years now--almost every week. But I'll either leave it in the leaf and rub that onto my scalp first then hair, or use my nutri bullet to blend it--just a SMIDGE cuz if you keep going it becomes aloe Vera juice. Then sieve it through my nut milk bag and use the applicator bottle.
Both of your wash days beat mine by 1hr and 30 mins. I thought having short hair was going to be easier...HA. Thanks for sharing your process with us and the results as usual, GORGEOUS !
I love your videos LaToya! They’re so relaxing 🥰 and I love to prepoo with aloe vera gel too, it makes my routine go a little bit longer but it’s worth it 🙌🏾 btw you’re too funny 😂
I use Aloe Vera and I also rotate it with African Pride pre-poo. They’re both great 👍. I deep condition under a dryer for 20 minutes. My wash is my pamper day. 🧞♀️💕🍷
toya, im a chef...and i have to admit im a full diy kinda girl. i like creating refresher sprays and leave in conditioners with all natural ingredients. ive been using aloe for years. i dont like the african pride preshampoo...once you got the real aloe, no synthetic can compare but that just me...plus it leaves flakes. i dont know how i havent seen anyone complain for those flakes...they are hard to wash out.. with the natural aloe, i blend and strain with a cheesecloth so im good to go. its been fun watching your wash routines though.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair ive never seen anyone else complain, i might be the only unfortunate one. but i washed them out and proceeded with my shampoo just fine..
I really enjoy my washday my wash and go last me a week I think I am 4a b and with a little c in the crown I just sat aside a day that I can be patient with my hair!!
I've got to try the aloe vera. The leave-in conditioner version of the Shea moisture deep conditioner you used is the one I was telling you about on your Patreon account! (I was the high porosity girl 😄) It's a great leave-in and the moisture lasts for days. I'll go and add it to our zoom meetup as you requested😊.
I love watching and listening to Latoya! Packed with details for the aloe pre poo. She does the work so that we don't have to! 🤣 Scientist plus natural hair Whisperer! I bought that heat cap while watching this video! #amazon hello! 😁
Hi, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like to know the long term benefits of using aloe consistently. Please pay attention to that so we can get a 3mo, 6 mo, and 1 yrs update...😬😬... you know, if it's not too much trouble...😂😂 I love and appreciate your work girl!!🥰🥰
Having taken care of my daughters hair (she seems to have twice the amount of hair than others) I know the trials of all-day wash days. My hair, however is very fine and not very coarse, so it dries in no time. My hair is much shorter than my daughter's (I cut off my hair because I got tired of getting up at 5am to do our hair in the morning). I like watching you do your DIY, though I won't do it. I use the Dr. Miracle and African Pride pre-poo. They both work well with my hair. Great video!
