Step by step moisturizing 4c hair wash routine. Super in depth.
This is the process I do when I am in need of complete and total moisturization of my type 4 (4c) hair strands. I do this routine at minimum once a quarter, but usually every 4-5 washes. This is a routine I keep in my schedule for getting long natural hair, with a slight difference. Pre-pooing is relatively new for me. I used to do it when I first went natural 10 years ago, but stopped because I didn’t see too much of a difference except all the extra time it took. Today I’ve decided to pre-poo with coconut oil and conditioner because I really wanted to pamper my hair today, but generally the key is to sit under the humidifier.
Also, I generally prefer to use sulfate free shampoo, but this one works well for seborrheic dermatitis.

You seem to genuinely enjoy natural hair and its nice to see. A lot of youtubers seem to only do hair content because the audience wants to see it but you come across as really passionate about natural hair and its refreshing. :)

I love my steamer. Put the people on Toya! There’s nothing like steaming for low porosity hair. It’s more effective if you use it without a shower cap on. The wet steam and moisture isn’t getting in with the cap on. Just a tip ❤️

I think you would get more out of steaming your hair if you used the steamer without a plastic cap. That way the steam helps the conditioner to penetrate the hair and get absorbed into your strands and you get the most benefit. Give it a try

Great content! As soon as i saw the very slight discoloration near your edges, I guessed you might have Seborrheic dermatitis. Thanks for sharing your routine! As a fellow sufferer, It’s encouraging I’m not alone in the extended wash day process to take care of build-up, and flare-ups. Have you ever considered using a shampoo brush? One with with soft, thicker, flexible tips that can double as a scalp massager. It’s been a game changer for my SD and non-abrasive.I still Prepoo, apply an Indian herb-based shampoo to scalp, follow up w/ moisturizing shampoo, but Use the shampoo brush instead of a scalp scrub. Of course I know everyone has different needs. :)

Yes! I’ve used one in the past but it got lost when I moved. I enjoyed it. ☺️ SD is no joke! Imagine being a natural hair youtuber dealing with it while trying to make hundreds of videos. Latoya have you ever tried aloe treatments on your scalp? When Nap 85 introduced it I started doing it with warm oil and I've never had issues again with corn flakes and sores and such on my scalp. It worked on my son's scalp too. I did it every wash day for about a year and I still do it now from time to time. Just a tip🤗❤! I love you and your beautiful self!

I struggled with a scalp condition for as long as I can remember and all the special shampoos did was make it good for a day. Literally the next day after washing my scalp would have flaky buildup. Coconut oil was used as a prepoo because as soon as I applied it the flakes would release upon application and I didn't have to scratch it and deal with a sore scalp. But 1 day after washing it was back. I introduced Ayurveda to my regimen, replaced coconut oil with a fresh aloe/aloe based prepoo, eliminated sealing my whole hair strands with oil (only ends) as the products I used already had oil in it. I just listened to my hair to know when to wash...when it itched to much.. 7-8 days, 10 days max and I have to wash. This change was in 2017 and that scalp condition I've had most of my life is gone. I've learned for me it's certain ingredients and product formulation. My hair has completely changed. Apologies this is so long, but felt compelled to say something in hopes that it will help someone else as I thought this was just what is was always gonna be...but that wasn't my case.

I never condition my hair if I'm going to deep condition. I dont think it actually does anything for you because a deep conditioner by nature is a more intense conditioner than the average one so to me the normal conditioner is useless, and may actually hinder the deep conditioner by possibly blocking some of the deep conditioner ingredients from entering the hair shaft, since a normal conditioner coats the hair. What do you guys think?
@LaToyaEbonyHair
@LaToyaEbonyHair 3 года назад
I think that’s a great way to look at it. Depending on how tangled my hair is, I sometimes skip conditioner. I do both because of habit. I usually only skip one if I’m out of product. I don’t think it’s necessary to do both all the time, I just love the routine I have.

I took the supplement for 3 months but was advised to only take it for 6 - 10 weeks. Since it's natural it needs a little longer to make things shake but I honestly realized my scalp calmed aaaalll the way down well before i stopped the supplement and have maintained the results despite not being on it anymore.
