Fast Harrowing Time!!! Montana Farming 2022
In today's video, I am harrowing or raking our big Montana fields solo. It is so fun to be able to run the tractor by myself. Of course, I make a few mistakes and I do realize what I did wrong. Driving the harrow up on the road was very bad but I won't do that again!!!! I hit a few bumpy parts too!! Dad is flying the drone so if any big disasters were to happen he is close by. I explain why it is very important to harrow these spring wheat fields due to 50% of our crop still being on the ground from the Sawfly damage at harvest. Overall I had a pretty great day in the John Deere tractor! I hope you like my video! Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Watching you is a delight. You may not be aware of it but your video teaches us about life. The video shows us you preparing to harrow, checking all the details (rpm, direction, speed, etc.), doing things the way it should be done and when you become a little confident doing it, then suddenly you hit a coulee, gives you a jolt or two, but you get your composure back and laughing at that experience. In essence, that's life. Who would have thought that I would be philosophical and delighted just watching you. YOU GO GIRL!

@@KatesAg Kate you can call me Terry your making me feel to important. Right now we are getting a new roof on our house. There's 9 guys working on it. When Hurricane Mathew blew through in 2014 it damaged the roof it's took all this time to get the Insurance company to pay. The other thing is a buddy of mine is giving me his Hot Tub for free so we're working on getting it to our house. It weighs 800 lbs and will take at least 6 guys to lift it. The guys working on the roof said they would do it. My friends wife died so he doesn't want it anymore. My wife Alison will enjoy it so it's nice of him to let us have to it.

Another job well done Kate. The last turn I saw looked really good. The harrow did stay in the field and not in the grass or road so thats a win. When I was driving tractor trailer in what seems like a lifetime ago, whenever I would come up to someplace new or different then it normally is I would always be looking ahead to plan what I was going to do with my turn or when backing into a dock or whatever. The cities here in the midwest and east are old and not made for a 53 foot trailer so I had to be ready for anything. Never a dull moment. Have yourself a wonderful day and until next time BYE 👋

Hi Kate, you dont have to shift the tractor down if you're going to turn it off, just put it in park.When you start it again it will automatically be in a lower gear for starting out. Looked like you were really enjoying harrowing, fun to go faster.

The amount of loss on your fields is heartbreaking. I learned of sawflies through your videos and now I dislike them nearly as much as mosquitos. If only there was some ferocious creatures that would eat them all. Thanks for sharing

Hey Kate, hope your having a Great Day, good to see you learning All you can about the farming equipment because probably here in about the next 10 to 15 years since you already have the SELF STEER on the straight aways , there will be no one actually in the actual tractors 🚜 it will all be ran by computer UNFORTUNATELY, I think, unless something breaks down, all ran from the in home of the farm, computerized and the farmer can look in on all the equipment in all the fields and equipment as they are working and how far or how much longer or it has left, personally, NOT looking forward to that day, I always liked being in the equipment , whatever it might be tractor 🚜, combine ETC, just that fresh air and nice , hard day's work but I guess things must always change, , well hope I didn't wear your ear OFF 🤣🤣 CYA soon on the next video and BE SAFE 😎😎🚜

YOU ARE A FARMER! So it’s no surprise to see you harrowing by yourself. My kids love ya, and maybe it’s odd, but I feel just as happy about operating a piece of equipment as you or my kids do. I think their are quite a few of us old farts on here who are the same way. So you bring a big smile to our faces too, not just the kids. That seems like a recipe for success. You did great Kate! I guess you did almost everything that can be done at the farm now, maybe except driving the green car. But I guess when you can choose between driving the combine or the green car, you probably take the combine! Thanks for explaining about the coulee, I learn so much from your videos! Well when I watch the view from the tractor you see big fields everywhere. I guess the next village with shops are far away. I think it can be difficult sometimes when you need some groceries? In the village where I live there are no shops at all, so I can imagine how it is to live a little bit in isolation. Greetings from the Netherlands!

I've seen many different farmers post their videos online. One thing that they all have in common is less time looking directly at the camera and more time focusing on what is going on around them with their equipment, the different gauges in the tractor, etc. They can still be heard and seen, but it also gives them time to stop suddenly if need be before running over something that may damage that expensive equipment. I'm surprised there's no snow on the ground because we definitely have it here in the upper Midwest, with daytime high temps -12 with -35 windchill. Winter is definitely here, and by looking at that sky, it looks like snow is coming.
