For a cold start and that type of setup it actually fired up pretty well. Definitely a lot of unburnt fuel when cold, that's all the smoke was. Its definitely a blower car though, the gear drive is most likely coupled with the cogs on a serious centrifugal. I do like how dude said he can "hear" that its just got heads and a gear drive....Rain man status right there!
ive owned a few of these and my best was dyno run a little over 450hp. that's barely half throttle and between owning a 302, 306 and a 351W I will never forget that sound of full throttle. gotta love one video of a car being pulled out of the garage and all of a sudden everyone thinks they know everything about cars. well done sir nice car!
There is no way that was all out w/ 800hp man! I agree with your statement on warming up before romping, but I bet that was just feathering the throttle.
Ive just read thru most of the post and responses here and its hilarious to see so many different opinions come out of an a 2:30 video. I wish the original post would have given the specs on his car and settle most of this silliness. Im no car expert by any means, but i will say that my old 79' Chevy short wide w/468 cubic inch engine made 478hp to the rear wheels and it had that nasty cam sound just like this "800hp" Mustang does. Got a friend with an old 64' chevy truck with a 350 and a nasty sounding cam and he cant break 14.00 flat in a quarter mile. Guys at the Drag strip would bring trucks and cars with approx. 700-800hp...supercharged, pro-charger, turbo, nitrous-whatever and have little to no rough idle. Having said all that, im just saying, none of us know whats under that guys hood. He could be blowin shit or it may be legit.....none of us really know and there not enough real info in the video for anyone to make an accurate statement. BUT, it was fun to read all of it!!! LOL
I haven't said this sounds boss this year yet!! Love the sound of the car. It was a cold start that's why it was smoking. I have an E85 Mercedes that does the same thing only when it's real cold out. It's not starting but when he's turning the key those big injectors have to be spraying out some fuel then it finally starts and there's your smoke show.

Best sounding car on youtube! I had a brand new 93 gt s-trim aluminum everything too! But i sold it like 10 years ago, had 36,000 original miles on it. Fire engine red grey cloth interior 5 speed no sun roof. Stock looking except draglites and 3 gauges on the cowl. Was in the same shape when i sold it, as it was the day i drove it home from shiertown ford!!!
Also, the tune is most likely rich at startup because running rich creates heat and what does heat do for a cold engine? Brings it to operating temp. Secondly, his tires are just fine; guys cut 1.4x 60ft times and hook 1000whp on 275 ET streets so "donut rings" or not, with the right suspension you don't always need a tubbed out big tire setup. Lastly, I would like to ask everyone where they got their dyno app for RU-vid that let's them know from a video of just a cold start and half a second of throttle how much power a car is or isn't making.....I could use that!

I have an 88 mustang covt. It has 31,995 original miles. It's a GT, 5.0 with an additional 175 hp. It was used as a pace car. It won best class in 2012. Ford co. Supposedly made 20 of these. It was given by the ford co. If it was used in 8 or 9 charity races. I'm trying to find out as much as I can about this car.
I love the sound of this car, love the ysi, big boost, so nice. I can only imagine how nice it sounds once it warms up and the idle cleans up. For all the four lug haters i put 567 rwhp, now thats corrected, through 28 spline moser 4 lugs. 331 on 150 worth of spray in my shitstang. Been three seasons still together. Gonna have me a ysi or a procharger someday! I see it's a stick still, did you upgrade to G force or a5? Tremec perhaps?
I put 300 rwh to my Vega factory rear with welded spider gears !! 8" wide 24.5 × 13 M/T !! 1.56 60ft. times running 12.1s @ 109+ mph !!! Vega 4 cylinder axles gears yoke with a 400 SB ! Over 300 passes !! Used 1970s chevelle ladder bars ! Used to get teased till I put em on the trailer !!!! Frame connectors and a cage had 3000$ in the whole including a 199$ 10" GER converter in a 350 turbo with a shift kit !!!! Motor bottom end was out of a junkyard !!! Any questions ??? The key part ?? The COST !!! almost all used parts accept the cam lifters and springs !!!
i think it looked cool a f***! sounds killer little smoke at first but it soon went away. love to see it jump off the line when fine tuned and warmed up! would make a cool vid. again it looks good as hell sounds like a fun toy

Sharp,Sharp,Sharp I had a 93 red gt no sunroof grey cloth interior 5 speed i bought brand new and had a ton of money into it too, including a vortech s-trim and same rims drag lites! But that lx is just so clean like mine always was. I just love this car the way it sits and sounds and no bullshit just rims and all motor work. That's what mine was plain jane just drag lites and that nice deep red almost fire engine red. I even kept the stock hood on it,this kid i knew had a stock carbon fiber hood that i wanted so bad because i would of painted it to my car and left the under neath stay raw carbon fiber. He really didn't want to part with it cause back then you couldn't even buy one someone he new made it and it was flawless he wanted a rediculous price for it.Every now and again this car pops up and i have to give my stamp of bad ass ness!
im a young man and I like these fox bodies, always will, but that 1987/88 Cutlass in this vid is what I love! & I will eventually get one again and do something great to her! ;-) It was my first car a couple years ago, it mildly modded but man I love the G bodies and Fox Bodies. They just dont make cars as beatiful as they once did!!!

I've seen and driven a lot of cars and that is not 800 HP. Just no way. I've driven a 9 second car in the quarter mile and that Mustang does NOT have 800 HP.
Yea I think the car is capable of making decent power but in this video it damn sure ain't no where near 800, the car needs tuned, sounds like a r trim blower, def can get 600 out of it , that's bout tops on a street setup like this . I have a s trim which is way smaller , 331, Vic junior allum heads, victor EFI, anderson cam , made 496 at the tires ,?551 ft pounds
Something wrong with your car if you only make 496 with an S trim and 331. My buddy has a 334ci alum heads and s trim and makes 690rwhp. Heck even my buddy with a stock bottom end and S trim is making 530 to the wheels with RPM heads!
+ron haley nah it aint even close to 800 hp it sounds alright most small block fords with a decent exhaust tend to do that but 800 hp no way! yes its a sweet sounding car yes it makes more than a bone stock 5.0 but no 800 hp
hey Ronnie you should lose those elderbrock heads and you'll pick up more power I switched my juniors 2 AFR 205 and picked up 80 horsepower. I had a carbureted 347 R Block with a 200 shot and it makes 732 to the tire. with the Juniors I was only making 650. car in the video sounds pretty good though needs to be tune to little or it's just cold. but 800 at flywheel for sure. at the tires is doing but it's one of those things you have to see to believe. but if it's a small block Ford unless it's a Windsor block they split at 500hp so you need a boss block or an R Block like I have. but if you have that and a turbo s*** sky's the limit. my engine builder has a 1300hp 331r running a bullseye Turbo. in his evil street car. thanks for the video bitchin ride man.
For all you ppl saying it smokes so bad ya it does but if you haven't noticed the licence plate says Ontario on it and the driver is wearing a jacket so its probably late fall early spring and still cold out. when its cold out and you start any car it runs rich till it warms up and when its cold out every car smokes or shows smoke. 2nd ppl saying it needs a tune if you look at his other videos its on a dyno and at a very reputable shop from what I could tell in the other video dasilva racing??? and I have had my own car their to be tuned and they do great work. That brings me to my next point 800hp is very possible to pull out of these cars with the rite setup and tune that of witch this car does have and I don't know ( az asimovski) at all. great looking and sounding car keep up the great work!
I ran dual bags in my 89 LX, with panhard bar.I cut 1.32 60 ft times off the trans brake. I had a 21lb Novi 2000 and gutted car. On the scale it weighed 3000 even . I managed a 9.72 @ 141mph best off the trans brake and 10.10 @ 137 off the foot brake with 1.48 60 ft. This was done off 597 rear wheel H.P. So I think with a good run this dude can put out a solid mid 9 second run.

thats damn good for not runnin but a min or two...and the scream of that supercharger is wicked as hell...i had a 87 lx with a built 302 runnin 456 horse...and it didnt run like that cold...i could barely keep it runnin it warmed up
