From someone who learned on his own thirty years ago, when all we had was music videos on MTV to copy from, and someone whos been playing in bands for longer than youve been alive, you are an absolute inspiration to me for not only your speed, and how technical you are, but how insanely proficient. You are a true artist and its been a priveledge getting to watch you do what you love and blow up with it!! Thank you for making this kind of stuff Luke!!
Because now you understand just a little bit how drummers think which will make you able to communicate with them better.... you know, instead of saying "boom ka diddly do bum bum".
I've been a guitar player for a little over a decade now but I've always had a strong interest in learning to drum. Your videos are making my temptation to add another instrument dangerously high! Keep it up, I love the content!
I don't even drum anymore, but your knowledge and passion for your instrument is inspiring. Thank you for sharing all that you know!! Make more of these videos. Can't wait to attend one of your tours/clinics in the future.
Thank you Luke for sharing your talent with us and inspiring us with that next level musicianship. We love the breakdowns like that too. You're the man!
Downvoters are people who could never achieve this because all they do when they sit behind the set is smash the toms and symbols randomly and uncontrollably when they play. Great video Luke! Sick fill for sure
This is great.. Ace is learning six stroke rolls in his lessons now. It's nice to see it from a different perspective and at a faster tempo. Looking forward to more lessons!
Wow, nice fill 😎👏👍 I miss being able to play my drums...one day soon. Would love to have a little sound proof room in the house for them. Great job luke.
I’ve been using the 6 stroke roll with fraction/linear fills for years now, really does open new doors. Great seeing more metal drummer incorporating this into their playing other than the standard 2 on hands 2 on feet/4 on hands 2 on feet
Thank you for the simple explanation. Sometimes it's hard to understand what's going on, even in slow-motion so lessons like these are very useful for us. Thank and please do more!
Thank you Luke Holland. This helps me a lot. I’m looking forwards for more videos like this you going to put up in the upcoming videos. Thank you!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@shashankmongrel I mean....I got my first kit at like 18 or 19 (10 years ago) but only had access to it for a few years. I couldn't play very often but then moved states away multiple times to apartments and I live in a 3rd floor apartment now. I am partially to blame of course. But I shift more of the blame towards the cost of owning a home. I simply can't play anywhere without being an annoyance or overbearing. Point is...I wish I had a home and actually used my practice pad more.
@@JustinKeithD me too started 10 years ago at 19 :P. and me too skipped practice. and never did rudiments. but looking back i could just imagine what 10 years of rudiments could have meant now
Thanks man. I feel better after I watch this video the second time....2nd time watching I notice Luke was using his double bass drum pedal which to me is easier than doubles on a single pedal.
See I feel like I already do this when I play but definitely couldn’t tell you how I knew to do it or why it’s broken down like that. It just feels natural to play in rudiments then use those rudiments to form an advanced fill. I’ve never truly had a drum lesson (on a set) and only basic highschool lessons on how to do things like paradiddles and whatnot.
I swear you had your eyes closed for part of that drum roll... I'm going to get back onto drumming dude, I'll be using these videos to learn my technical again 🙌
I don't read music and I'm not tooo educated on rudiments and fractions and all that stuff, I basically just jam rings of saturn in my head to practice on technical stuff and as I lay dying / trivium for precision playing, ne obliviscaris for blast beats. but these videos do help me out to at least watch and absorb
