Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) Filming Locations - Then and Now - Hollywood's Hallowed Grounds 

Fast Times is one of my all time favorite movies. I met the actor who played Damone a few years ago at a convention and got an autographed picture from the movie. He signed it "$75 and a ride." Thanks for all the filming locations, it was better than the DVD feature.

I love ‘Fast Times’ and never realized it was filmed at Van Nuys High! My Mom went to that High School in the 70’s and before her, my Grandma went to school there with her friend Natalie Wood! Robert Redford also went to school there with my Grandma and Natalie Wood. It’s truly a historical place. Funny, I grew up in the San Fernando Valley/LA and often hung out at the Sherman Oaks Galleria and the Santa Monica Mall at the Promenade (we had a beach house in Santa Monica). I never knew they filmed ‘Fast Times’ at my old stomping grounds but I knew they filmed some in the Valley. I definitely recognized Van Nuys Blvd. This is so very cool! I was born in 79’, so I didn’t even see the film until my late-teens but it quickly became a favorite of mine and I added it to my movie collection as soon as I got my first place! Thank you for this fun trip down memory lane. This video came up randomly and I’m so glad I watched it! Excellent work. I appreciate all the research and work you put into this. 🌹

I just never get tired of rewatching this movie. One of the few films that gets young people of a certain era mostly right. Very honest film, like Dazed and Confused.

I lived the Fast Times At Ridgemont life! I was a student at Monroe High which was the closest High School to Van Nuys High in 1982 which is where this movie was filmed. I was a senior at Chatsworth High the following year which was the closest High school to Canoga High which is where part of the movie was filmed as well. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley during the early 80s, so these locations are very familiar to me. The film was very accurate in terms of growing up in the valley. It was a great time to be young and enjoy life. An iconic time in the valley as well. Great memories.

I'm 56, lived in NY until I was 28 & saw Fast Times on cable TV at 16. Since 2000 I have lived 1/4 mile from the house on Welby Way & never knew that iconic pool scene was shot in my neighborhood. I noticed the house was up for sale & sold in 2020, so it was accessible, good timing on that. In the realtor ad it even mentions the filing location.

I absolutely loved this movie, I’m 46 and have been watching it since I was a kid ...loved the soundtrack, loved Billy Squier!

One of my all-time favorite movies. Nice work... The pizza delivery scene where Mr Hand asks in disbelief if he’s “hallucinating here” always makes me laugh. LOL. Great coming of age flick, all around.

You did an amazing job on scouting out the locations, its sad to see how many of the original spots are no more. This needs to be included as an extra on the DVD, outstanding job!

I had photographed the director Amy Heckerling for a magazine portrait years ago and she was such a nice person. I asked her many questions about this movie and she was responsible for hiring so many young talented actors that got their big break from this movie. That right casting was very important to her and she did a wonderful job directing this movie. This movie and Animal House were some of my all time favorite comedies. Robert Redford and Marilyn Monroe were graduates of Van Nuys High. Good job on finding the locations. I grew up in the Valley in the 60’s and 70’s.

Fact: Jennifer Jason Leigh was actually working at Perry’s Pizza when she was cast for Fast Times.. and played a high school student waitress at Perry’s Pizza (pretty cool)

Great video...this was a cult movie to me even when I was 11 years old. To this day I can almost quote the entire movie as it is happening. So glad that so many of the places are still there. In the mid 80s we went to the Sherman Oaks Galleria (on a family vacation to Cali all the way from Alabama) and it was almost a religious experience for me and my older brother. Much like this video, we walked through and located all the spots from the film. California has changed and grown so much, but the memories of that movie will never leave me.

Fast Times is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite movies of all-time. You must have serious powers of persuasion to be allowed inside "Stacy's house", much less take pictures and videos. Thank you so much for this awesome video, makes me weepy with sentimentality. Seriously.

This was awesome but I always wondered why nobody does The Hollywood Knights or Jekyll and Hyde Together Again locations as well..Most of us loved all of these movies together back then and still today.

I love how you go back from movie to today back to the movie back to today so we can really see what's going on. Plus you cover quite a few more locations than the other guys. Great job !!

In 1982, I was a 9 going on 10 year old squirt growing up in San Diego. I met Oingo Boingo on 7/15/1982 at a Licorice Pizza right next to my house and a red haired fellow named Danny Elfman signed a 45 record for me along with the rest of the band. About a month later Fast Times came out in the theaters. I would have loved to grow up near Sunset at that time. Gawd I miss the ‘80s!!!

This was great! I grew up in LA (The San Fernando Valley) and I used to go to The Galleria and I loved Perry’s Pizza. It was so good. Also I grew up going to Van Nuys Blvd on Wednesday night because it was cruise night. The Galleria is where I got my prom dress in 1981 as well. Those were good times back then. Good times.

Thanks for this, I grew up close to Van Nuys, this is so amazing, I would have built a pool room too, and left the stairs. I took dates to the same restaurant for the lazy Susan full of German food, One date, our waitress was coked out, it was a weird night. My life was too close to Fast Times, that's why I love it!

The one thing I will say about pools (having grown up with one, and I have one here in FL) is that in general, no one sells diving boards and slides anymore due to liability. Also, if you were to find one or the other, I know in FL you pretty much can't get home owners insurance. I miss the days of doing 1 1/2's and "watermelons" off the board! :). If it's like the board we had, eventually they break down. The one in the movie probably broke down decades ago. This was a fun video! Ahhhh, the summer of 1982......

First of all thanks for the trip down Memory Lane I grew up in "The Valley" from 1969 to 1994 and went to Van Nuys High from 77-80. So if memory serves: 4:08 Behind the Bungalows was the Arts Building (Home Ec, Photography, etc...) 8:11 the room is part of the Main Admin/Entrance building (L-shaped). That's where we had Lab classes (the base of the Letter L), such as Biology, Chem, and Oceanography. The Locker Room looks right

as an 80's Valley girl I hung out at the Sherman Oaks galleria and loved getting Hot Dog on a stick. My favorite movie ever and I remember that mall so fondly. It sucks now, just a gym , some places to eat , a couple of stores and maybe the Paul Mitchell beauty school? Haven't been in a few years.

That was fun, thanx. I used to work at the old Burger King on Stanton Ave and Crescent, just down the street from the Buena Park Mall. We used to trade food w/ the Perry's Pizza at the mall. I worked there from 1980 to 1984. I, like Brad, was king of the fast-food hierarchy back in the day.

This is the most thorough location vid of seen on ANY movie. Well done, sir! Fast Times is the movie that made me move to LA in '84 from N.C. and it's funny how LA and the Valley didn't change much until the early 00s, then suddenly everything was being torn down. Is nothing sacred?

My cousins went to School with Amanda Wyss (Lisa - Brad's GF) at Aviation High, which no longer exist. Amanda or Mandy was her real name, came out to Hawaii when she graduated back 1978, and a bunch of us took a trip to the island of Kauai, I was still in elementary school back then. I still remember shortly after that trip, her first acting gig was a McDonald's commercial. So when I saw her in Fast Times and A Nightmare On Elm Street... I was pretty awe struck to have known her. She was pretty cool, down to earth from what I remember.
