I work at Rock Eagle 4-H center. The pool from the movie was what we called pool 1. It was removed in the early 2000s. It was built in 1953. It had a tree growing up into it. The old pump house is still there! The bridge was put in for the express purpose of carrying the sewage out of camp! haha We would have been glad to let you in to film. The center used to be open to anyone who wanted to drive in but since 9/11 we sign people in and take their license plate numbers. I've been going there for 15 years and just now found out that little darlings was filmed there!
My dad was Tatum Oneils driver on little darlings & my brother was Kristy Mcniichols driver. I had the pleasure of being there while filming in Rutledge & Madison & got to meet the entire cast.
@@Thediscodude79 that part of the movie made you excited for the summer and just made you feel good as you left the movie theatre… they can’t make great movies like that one anymore. Such a great soundtrack overalll.
Love this movie and I totally agree with you it’s an underrated gem. More people should know about it. I was pleasantly surprised to find this video, not knowing it was the same camp from Friday part 6!
This was my absolute favorite movie. I can't believe all the work you did to find all these places and the knowledge and research, good grief that's alot of work. Thank you so much. This was fun to watch, better times without 😷 stupidity.
Loving the revisit of old locations. Its weird how it takes you straight back to those childhood emotions. I remember seeing this film on TV in the early 80s in the UK. Taped it on VHS. Watched it many times. Searched for it yesterday and found it straight away on youtube. Forgot how much I loved this movie. Hidden jem. Love to all who have found fond memories of this film , and to you for taking us down memory lane.
Thank you for making this video, Sean. One of the top best teen 80’s films and almost no one knows it. But like you said people from our generation know this movie. And we love it! Thanks again!
Big fan of this movie! I own a few of the original lobby cards for it. Good news is it's now streaming on Paramount+ with the original unaltered soundtrack.
I just received the wonderful vinegar syndrome Blu-ray of “Little darlings” today. Unfortunately, no interviews with the stars but some good extra features outtakes and an hour long interview with the Director. I really wish they had included this video on the Blu-ray. It would’ve been a fantastic addition. Such a great job you did. 👏👏👏👏👏
This was one of my all time favorite movies. Matt dillion comes from my area where I grew up. I just got done watching it with my boyfriend.. I love going to movie filming places... I now live not far from New Preston where Friday the 13th was filmed...
Thanks for doing this! It makes you wonder how one could watch 2 movies as a kid over and over and not realize they were filmed at the same place. I showed this to my sister on vacation who is a huge Little Darlings fan and she absolutely loved it. Thanks Sean.
Great film. I got to see Little Darlings at the drive in( 1980). Totally underrated film. Later at the same drive in, probably the same year. I got to see Foxes.
You did such a great job finding all the locations for little darlings. I’m shocked how much still looks the same! This movie was such a coming of age film for me being a child of the 70’s and 80’s. Thanks for revisiting this little gem.
My mom took me and my best friend (a couple of 13 year old 8th graders) to see this film - our very first R rated movie - during Spring Break 1980. Mom sat in the back row. Love her heart. This movie has been a LONG TIME fave, and yeah, I own it on VHS, and have it saved in my YTTV library since they refuse to spend money on a 43 year old film to digitally remaster. The hippie chick, Sunshine, is Cynthia Nixon in her big screen debut. You were jonesin' for Kristy McNichol, and I was jonesin' for Kristy McNichol's hair! Haha!! Have a feeling we were both let down.. But! This vlog adventure had me smiling from start to finish, and I've sent a link to my (still) best friend. I know she's gonna flip! She had the hots for Matt Dillon, so if you see black smoke on the eastern horizon, it may just be a MAJOR hot flash that rekindled an ember in an old woman's heart. "Don't confuse me any more than I already am." - Mr. Callahan, removing Steve Martin-esque arrow-through-the-head toy from one of the girls' head during camp archery lessons, Camp Little Wolf, summer '79.
My favorite coming of age movie as I was 16 when this came out. One of my classmates was actually at the camp and used as one of the many extras in several scenes.
Thank you! I loved Little Darlings. There was a huge promo hype about it back in 1980. Kristy McNichol was huge after winner her emmy for TV's Family series 2x in 1977 & 1979. Although I think the director of this film originally wanted Brooke Shields for the role. One interesting thing about Little Darlings I noticed in that scene where Angel first picks up Randy in the canoe to take him to the boathouse: picking him up, the canoe is Yellow, when they get to the boathouse, the canoe is Green and looks quite battered up. I noticed that when I first saw the film and don't know how that detail got passed editing. But, hey, maybe I'm not the only one that noticed it. How young Cynthia Nixon looked as well in this film.
Watching your video because I searched for Little Darlings as I do once in a while. Then when I found this video I thought cool. Someone after my own heart. I’m an old girl but I wasn’t always! Years ago I looked everywhere for the song by Ian Matthews and no where to be found. Not on Itunes etc. So I kept looking and found the 45. I don’t know if there’s an easier way to get it to cd but I had to send the 45 off to a guy in Phoenix and he converted it for me. I might be one of the few out there that can drive down the road and listen to Shake It “ here she comes Ridin rolling it down the line, and slip in and slidin taking her sweet old time 🎶” So when you said hm I imagine most of you probably watched it because of that other movie you were talking about, but me, I’m a Little Darlings big fan. I don’t know why they never show this movie on tv, wild. Ps. The hippee girl I think, that is the short haired girl from Sex In The City. Cynthia Nixon
Thanks for the memories of a simpler time back in the 80's. Great movie. Thank you for the time, detail, and foot work you put into each part. Keep up the good work. Thanks again
Absolutely awesome job with this! I was a real treat to watch! I saw the movie in the theater I think around May 1980, and I was 14 years old. I like both Kristy and Tatum, in a lot of ways they were opposites. Gosh, this takes me back to the fun days! Really cool to see some of the things, like the rock on the fireplace, and the black spot, or knot, on the window trim the same after all these years. I bet it was a lot of fun for all of them filming this back then.
Wow, simply love this video. Totally mesmerized with how things look right now after all those years....I just watched a full movie here on YT and then found this video u did. I felt a bit misty eyes because it bought back so many memories about myself, and other things..... I was 11 years old when I saw this for the first time in 1982. I remember seeing a huge page TV ads in local newspaper featuring the two main gals and asked my mum what the word virginity mean?? She blushed and kinda didnt answer... I realise it is something that I shouldnt know, but too late. I was keen to watch it that night, and I loved it. Massive crush on Kristy....but I had a few of these during the 80s. Brooke Shields from The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love to name a few.... my mum passed away two months ago and watching this movie again made me very sad. I now feel old...... when the end credit came on with Love Flow I was in a very sad way when memories came flooding back. But love watching how things has changed, or not.
I just watched this again after many years a few months ago! Wow Kristy was an amazing actress, she could cry on demand better than antone! Well I mean it seemed SO genuine... Thanks for this 80's trip back in time!👍💋
Meatballs was filmed here, in Ontario. Another favourite of mine! A lot of the stuff in both of these movies definitely wouldn't fly today. Lol. Saw Little Darlings and Meatballs when they both came out. God, I feel old. ;)
Hey, Sean- Thank you so much for making and sharing this. I remember very well when Little Darlings came out, (I was 13) it brings back such great memories...and I agree, it's an underrated, Little Gem of a movie. My sincere thanks for your efforts. Well done. ve always
LOL when Sean say's in fact your more than likely watching this video because of Friday the 13th part VI is the exact reason why I'm watching this video 🤣🤣😂😂
When I was a kid, both "Little Darlings" and "Foxes" were playing on Showtime in 1982. Both about teenage girls. But I never saw either film until recently. I enjoyed "Little Darlings" much more.
I was 14 years old, when it came out. I fell in love with Matt Dillon . I went to the movie theater several times only to see him. I still like him. He was very popular here in Germany after that movie. All the Teen Magazines reported about him.
One of my all-time favorite movies. I was 17 and a junior in high school when this came out. Absolutely loved it then and still do. It's a shame it isn't better known. Among all the tacky teenage fun-in-the-sun, T&A movies that were out at the time, this one had some class and depth. I'm now 60 and when I watch this, I go right back to 17. Thank you for this. ***I have one question*** What about the boathouse?
That little hippie girl is played by Cynthia Nixon from Sex And The City. Love this movie! It is indeed a little gem! This is so cool thanks for the video!
Thank You 🙏 Sean for all your hard work showing us finding the hard locations & just showing us around the camp that Little Darlings was filmed at.I really wanted to see the pool that Christy & Tatum were in & sadly the pool isn’t there + I didn’t know the pool & the place where the food fight was at other locations & also Friday the 13th 6 was filmed there also! I glad I bumped into your channel!
I am still shocked he turned down the money to check out a old bathroom, That will NEVER happen again lol thanks for all the great moments with the locals Sean.
The only reason I can think of is it was dirty and he didn't want it to be photographed. Maybe that's why he said he will send one to his email address.
Thank you for posting this! You did a really great job in finding all these locations! I always liked this movie since I first saw it as a teen in the early 90s. In Germany, this film was shown on TV quite often. There was even a dvd published here! It‘s so great to see all these places nowadays! 😍
I came across this video while i was looking to buy little darlings from you tubes movies lol....sadly, i didnt see it...i was born in 73, so i basically grew up with this movie...still ticked off over Randy and Angels end lol
I uh, read the novelization of Little Darlings after the movie came out. Yeah, I was a hormonal teenager with a crush on Kristy McNichol so sue me. Haven't seen the actual movie since I snuck in. Fun times. Hilarious that the cabins were also used in my favorite F13th film. Great find.
I’m here because this film just came out on 4k a little over two weeks ago and I wanted to see how things look now. Until now, the only way to have seen it is on laser disc, an old vhs tape or tapes on an old vcr. The 4k release looks great! I was 10 when it came out but never got a chance to see it. I watched it for the first time a couple nights ago. No way would a film like this be made today lol
Wow, this was my favorite movie growing up. I remember seeing this at the family twin cinema in fountain Valley. I love this movie and I’m so glad you did the filming locations for it… Truly awesome video Sean.
So cute. I remember watching this and loving it when I was a little girl, I was 7. was obsessed with Kristy. It was definitely reminiscent of Meatballs
This movie is so amazing!! I'm so glad you appreciate it to do this, I grew up on this movie and it is my favorite movie of all time. Not only did this and Friday 6 film there but another summer comedy made for TV in 85 with Michael J Fox and Nancy McKeon called Posion Ivy it's a Summer Camp movie only come out out on VHS you can see it on Amazon but can't buy it.
This is a classic. Kristy McNichol was a pretty young lady with a Tom boyish side and Matt Dillon was and still is a heartbreaker. Funny because I just watched this movie this morning. It is hard to find and I actually bought it on DVD through Ebay. There's a couple of great songs on there especially the ending credits "Let your love flow" such a great tune. Tatum O'neil was awesome as well as Armand Assante.
Good call on the 'never released' (on DVD/VHS/Laserdisc) reality of this movie. I always believed the camp related scenes were filmed in relatively the same area as the 'Meatballs' movie when I saw this show upon its original release in 1980. I've never known a soundtrack from this movie to exist. 'Little Darlings' was lots of fun to watch for my 17 year old self along with my awesomely hot girlfriend and her less-than-hot sister. Thank you so much for the concentrated research on this very lost gem. Malfuncsean you've done a great memory proud.
@@malfuncsean WOW, what a fantastic idea to do an original 'Meatballs' filming locations video, and a New Year's gift for your hardcore Canadian fans. Meatballs was filmed almost entirely in the Haliburton, Ontario area known as Camp White Pine (still in-operation). Except for Bill Murray the majority of the cast were Canadians, as was the director Ivan Reitman. There were a few other filming locations in Lindsay, Ontario (boarding the buses) and St. Catharines, Ontario (the K-Mart, no longer there). I know you're a massive KISS fan, and I'm sure you're aware Chris Makepeace whom played 'Rudy' in Meatballs, was the only actor ever cast for the (never made) KISS Elder movie. Did you know 'the Elder' album was largely recorded and produced at Bob Ezrin's King City, Ontario studio? Merry Christmas to you and yours.
@@malfuncsean That's a tough one. Check the YT video with the directors commentary for this scene specific. It's stated this scene took three days to film at a coffee shop in Montreal. Albeit a scene that was done after the original movie production had wrapped. The set was dressed with a multitude of Greyhound Bus Lines posters and ads, yet that service was minimal in central Canada back-in-the-day (it would have been filled with 'Voyageur Bus' ads in-reality). The one thing which seems out-of-place to me, is the poster on the wall behind Tripper and Rudy, "Bus/Ski Ontario". Given the social politics of language at the time (English and French), you would never see and advertisement (for Ontario Ski Resorts) like that in a Quebec coffee shop or bus station. No doubt that address and the original business is long gone. I always believed this scene was filmed in the waiting area section of the Lindsay, Ontario coach bus station. The closest actual commercial bus station to Camp White Pine at the time.
I loved this !!! Thank you so much for this video. I love this movie. I own a horribly-remastered version on DVD (made from VHS I’m sure) but it’s better than nothing. I watched it when it was relatively new. Now I want to go to Camp Hard Labor! You did a great job on comparing shots!
Nice video, I always loved this movie from my teen years. Shows the before and after shots of the opening scene Apartments were Angel (Kristy) kicks the guy in the nutz! Such a great opening scene and classic coming-of-age film!
wahoo! This was worth waiting for, great video Sean! Any luck with the boathouse where Matt Dillon and Kristy met to do the deed? You found so many great locations, maybe next time you can edit in the bridge if you visit next time you are in Georgia! AMAZING to see the things that are still the same such are the fireplaces, the marks in the walls (especially above Armand's desk!) Such an underrated little film! Have you seen the scenes that made the TV version or the alternate ending? I haven't seen those myself! Love the Camp Tomahawk shirt, great one Sean. Nice to see a locations video for a more offbeat film! They couldn't make a film like that nowadays!
Couldn’t find the boat house. It looked pretty beat up in the movie so it could be long gone. Also couldn’t find that weird gravestone area where Matt passes out drunk or the 76 Station they first stop at in the way to camp. I checked every existing 76 station in all of Georgia.
Whenever I see Matt Dillion, I'm always reminded of the very first time I ever saw him on film. 1979's Over The Edge. Anyone remember that little gem? Where all the kids lock their parents in the school auditorium and wreck the place..
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. This movie is one of my all time favourites. Now I have a pretty good idea where to spent my next holidays. Greetings from bavaria.
Great episode Sean, I actually have never seen Little Darlings but I do remember when it came out and was showing in cinemas, must try and find and watch
Thank you for making this! I’m always surprised my friends don’t know about this movie. I might have watched it at least 30 times. I had a crush on Matt Dillon Annnd my name is Angel. 😆
WOW , this brings back memories I'm 46 when we got our first vcr i was 8 an we rented jaws, the warriors an yes little darlings an i certainly had a crush on kristy mcnicole...looking forward to Friday the 13th HHG episode
