if you are good at Math (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics), know C++ and Python, and know basics of computer vision and ML, then you can enroll in the following advanced nano-degrees: 1-self-driving car engineer: imp.i115008.net/5RE9o or 2- Become a Robotics Software Engineer: imp.i115008.net/KVmnz Stay tuned for Part 2 of the video where I would review the advanced nano-degree on self-driving cars

Hi Sina, what is the main difference between these two courses. What is recommended to who?
@AniWho268
@AniWho268 Год назад
Thank goodness for this fast track. I'm really eager to get back into engineering, but the other software video had so many steps. Do you absolutely recommend the courses in that order: Intro to Self-Driving then the Robotics software course? If we have the prereq for the Robotics Software course, then why take the intro to self-driving first? Is it to be familiar with putting the principles together?

@@eliyahudejourayev5547: the first one is an advanced nano-degree to becoming a self-driving car engineer, the 2nd one is another nano-degree program to becoming a robotics software engineer. The first one is target for people who want to join autonomous car industry and teaches you the skills needed, while the 2nd one is more generic and covers a broader skills such as SLAM that is used in almost all mobile robots such as humanoids, vacuum robots, ...

@@AniWho268: 1- Those roadmaps are comprehensive which means you do not have to learn all skills to start your career. 2- if you have the pre-req, then you do not need to enroll in the intro one, directly go to the advanced one

Wow, this is amazing, exactly what I was looking for! I have a BS in Computer Science and I am currently working on a Masters in Computer Science. Despite having a BS in Computer Science, I will definitely start off with the Intro to Self Driving Cars Nanodegree when I have time to do so. I am married and don't have kids yet. I think where I am definitely having a hard time choosing is whether or not to pursue the Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree after doing the Intro to Self Driving Car Engineer nanodegree or go for the Robotics Software Engineering Nanodegree problem. I do have high levels of interests in both programs. Thank you so much for this review. I have been searching for a review like this online for a long time.

An excellent breakdown and guide for anyone who's currently stuck with the questions : How do I go about transitioning? Are these courses for me? etc. I wish I was able to see this video in the past because it goes through the steps and you will basically be seeing these pages if you decide to start the udacity program. I am in the process of completing it and despite it being a specialization, it has taught me a lot anyway in using the software, learning the language and some of the math concepts are very universal (can be applied to a lot of different industries and help make you a critical thinker). Thanks for consistently making informative videos on this topic Sina. I'll be sure to share with anyone who I feel will benefit from such information!

Hi, Sina, I just finished my bachelors in Mechanical engineering from India this year and I got admitted to the masters program in Mechanical engineering ( with robotics specialization) at the University of Colorado boulder. Now from your videos, I have seen a lot of Mechanical engineers getting jobs in the field of robotics. But my only concern is that I'm a fresher and I have gone through a lot of LinkedIn job postings and almost every one of them asks for work experience which I don't have and it really makes me think whether I will be able to get a job as a fresher after my masters degree. Can you please shed some light on this. Thank you
@samo6401
@samo6401 Год назад
Hi, im not Sina but jusy thought I'd offer my two cents: try to get a co-op or internship at a robotics company while doing your masters degree. From a mechanical engineering background and no work experience, it may be easier to start with a controls core job in factory automation, and the easiest place to land an internship like that are the national job conventions (SHPE, SWE, BEYA), where companies like rockwell or ABB attend. Join your university student chapters to find some help with presenting yourself at these conferences. Many other companies (especially automotive) also attend and have these sorts of internships. Im pretty sure University of Colorado Boulder will have a lab working on robotics research, or student teams working on something like a self driving car or quadruped for inspection. Try to join these groups on campus; while it isnt direct work experience, this is a major factor that many companies look at when hiring students fresh out of college. At least at bigger companies, or the very well known smaller companies doing big projects everyone knows about. You can probably land a job at a smaller company with less work experience, but they'll still want to see good projects (like the stuff from the nanodegree or university projects) as well as demonstrated resourcefulness, not just a degree and good grades. If you are a mechanical engineer who can prototype and code robots (on a lower level), and you can prove that with real hands on experience using the skills, you will be fine

Basically my question is that I am from Pakistan and their is not much universities which are focusing on robotics,I applied in my dream university Neduet ,and give my first priority to electrical engineering, because it covers alot of parts of robotics,but unluckily my aggregate was not too much,and I am selected in automotive engineering So should I get in to automotive?and will further plan for mechatronics in future? So automotive is fit for me, because I am very confused that if I did my bachelor's with automotive and will also learn coding and electronics by doing side courses? So is it possible that in future I can work as an robotic engineer and it will be easy for me to get into Ms in mechatronics or robotics from automotive background...???
