*Speed/Power:* Over-fast & fast (with good technique) *Hyperthrophy:* (mostly) Normal & Slow *Strength:* normal and fast, but add slow ones too (e.g. isometrics, slow eccentrics, higher load, pause squats/deadlifts/bench/pullups) *Skill:* all speeds (start slow, increase speed when technique improves) *Fat Loss:* all *Endurance:* all (depending of endurance type) *Health:* all of the above

Lex Friedman put it perfectly with the dress analogy on his recent podcast; lady wears a raggity dress, everyone notices the dress. Same lady wears a classy dress, everyone notices the lady, i.e. Galpin is an expert whose delivery and media class lacks the same factors that allow someone like Lex Friedman, Andrew Huberman, or Joe Rogan to attract numbers. His area of expertise or discipline attracts millions, but people prefer to look at so called fitness experts with no shirt, abs and biceps, and a handsome mug 😂 Unfortunately facts and science are not as interesting as a shirtless personality, what does that say about society? This guy goes into Andrew Hubermans podcast and instantly commands the numbers. Id be more worried about the people interested in looking at the so called experts, versus the actual experts.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:05 *Lactate is often misunderstood, blamed for post-workout soreness, but it's actually a byproduct of metabolism.* 01:29 *Glucose breakdown produces pyruvate through glycolysis, yielding a net energy gain used to form ATP, the universal energy currency.* 03:17 *With oxygen available, pyruvate is converted into more ATP through mitochondrial processes, but without oxygen, it shifts towards lactate production to buffer acidity.* 04:44 *Lactate acts as a buffer, preventing excessive acidity in muscles during intense exercise, and can later be converted back into pyruvate, water, and ATP.* 05:42 *Lactate serves as a signaling molecule, facilitating the redistribution of energy substrates to other tissues during exercise, including the brain, where it can directly fuel cognitive functions.* Made with HARPA AI

Thanks Mr. Galpin. If you ever need test subjects, I’m game. 6’2, 200, 475 squat, 535 deadlift- hopefully fast twitch dominate

Why type 2 muscles / fast twitch muscles aren't good for hypertrophy? My understanding is, they have a lot more potential to grow size, therefore you should also train them with faster concentric reps?
@shapeshifter404
@shapeshifter404 5 лет назад
Fast twitch take longer to recover. For purely hypertrophy (ie bodybuilding) slow twitch are useful to train because you can put more volume with quicker recovery which will likely result in greater muscle size.

I'm guessing type 2 muscles also get hypertrophy from slow reps I don't see why they wouldn't.

@@kevindownes9474 For sure when taken to failure. BFR has proven this.

Looking for the video you mentioned here about the mechanical tensions and hypertrophic muscle training. Would you please share that link to that video? I didn’t see it in your playlists. Thanks so much!

Another speed is still, such as plank or static hold of a pull up.
@Greg_Chock

He mentioned isometrics which are static holds
@JillCao

Isometric isn’t particularly useful for either strength gain or hypertrophy. It can be useful sometimes for some individuals. I used it quite a bit after injuries for rehab.
