It really is their Miata of colors. It’s their signature color and it is definitely awesome. Mazda has been great at paint colors since the 90s with the M-Editions. Sadly the Ms are gone, it really is a shame, too. They do have a new, Carbon Edition color that’s also pretty awesome and is actually a tan color. I always liked the dark grey on the original Carbon Editions, too.
I used to read Car and Driver back in the eighties, when practically every writer was an engineer, and that was the last time I saw car reviews this technically insightful. Thanks!
I remember that the kid down the street had a father who read Car & Driver and they were always in the living room on the coffee table. It must have been around 1966.
Unfortunately, NOT plugging in a “plug-in hybrid” totally defeats the purpose of paying EXTRA for a plug in hybrid. 😢 It just ends up being a tremendous waste of several (extra) thousand dollars on top of the standard CX-90 base price.
The door speaker is relocated to the cowl side, in a box under the dash. It's a feature in all new Mazda's since 2019 Mazda3. Makes the bass more punchy with no door rattles and you don't lose any sound through the door cutout. It can also play high res files (flac)
Over 5100 LBS!!!! Wow, the '73 Continental I had back in High School (longer time in the past than I care to remember!!) weighed less!!! But as always your reviews are top notch!!!! Hope Ping is doing better and hope you are coping well Sarah!!
As a former owner of a 88 RX-7, my 2nd car when I was in high school back in the 90s, and a current Mazda3 awd hb owner, I'm happy to see Mazda stepping up their game. I drove an e90 for 12 years, and wanted a more reliable car that was driver focused and fun, so I went with Mazda. They're what BMW was in the 90s, a driver focus car. Just wish they brought back the Mazda6 and MazdaSpeed.
How is Mr. Ping Pong. I thought I heard a cat at 2:48, I thought it was one of my four. I had to rewind and play again to hear from your video. Mazda always knows how to make a SUV. I would consider buying. Beautiful color. Like old school candy apple red. Have a Blessed weekend.
I was never a fan of Mazda, except for Miata and RX-7. But it has been doing really well lately. I wish Subaru which was my favorite affordable car brand, could learn a thing or two from Mazda.
@@SarahnTunedI’m burned TF out trying to follow you!! I can tell you love your people here but wow! Take a vacation woman. We’ll still be here when you get back❤
I like the covers on the bottom protecting the cv shafts and stuff, your videos are getting better and better very informative love the added graphics keep up the good work
I think the only thing Toyota could add is brand recognition and dealer support. Mazda seems to understand what a driver’s car means better than pretty much any other mass manufacturer at the moment.
@@dwaynepenner2788 Mazda probably wants the brand recognition and dealer support since it's only Mazda whereas Toyota can basically say if one wants better dealer treatment or whatever just go to Lexus lol
I woke up feeling like crap probably because it’s been like 116 here in Palm Springs, but now I’m watching your review and smiling…..😅 thank you Sarah💯🙏
I was hoping the CX-70 would be smaller than a CX-90 but larger than a CX-50. Instead, its a CX-90 with 2 rows of seats and costs pretty much the same as the 3 row version through out the line-up.
@@betteheadbettehead4800 Yup, in Europe where they have the CX60 and 80 instead, those two are different lengths, while in North America the 70/90 are the same size just with different names. Also the CX-70 is larger than a Merc GLS somehow despite being a two row lol.
A+...great job/review. I have the 2024 Mazda CX-50 TPP AWD and love it. The CX-90/70 size is good for some, but I like the CX-50 size + power/weight/fun factor. I did add "proper" 18" wheels and better A/T tires...way more gooder now!
Sarah, I really like your car reviews..👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 full of solid information and perspective of the qualities of the car! I’m partial to Mazda and their philosophies and execution of design. Raced Spec Miata and own two more Miatas, phenomenal experiences! Suggestion; perhaps there would be interest in your braking test by commenting about the initial bite of the brake pads. Do your normal brake test then another test immediately after when pads are hot. Sometimes this is drastically different and might be an interesting feature to include in the car review ?? (Has been in my experience) Hope your kitty is ok…🤞🏻 this review may of been filmed prior to Ping’s difficulties?
We’ve had the CX60 Phev for 8 or 9 months now. Been great so far. Done about 60% or driving on EV, and great to have the ability to just jump in and go when needed. It’s not perfect, but none of them are these days. Feels nice and planted during hard cornering, even compared to smaller cars.
Mazda has stated that they are going up market and competing with Lexus. I have owned several Mazdas over the years and as a current CX-60(Japan) owner I can say it is on par with other high end SUVs. I have personally driven Audis(A4) and Volvos(S60) in recent years and my CX-60 is just as nice, for less. As much as I like Mazda, they do have an uphill battle with people thinking they are not a high end vehicle.
Thank you for your unique style of reviewing automobiles. Reviews are the best when a quirky, pretty, and intelligent lady gives you the scoop on all the tech in a unique style! Best wishes for you and I hope Mr. Ping is doing better.
I rented the inline 6 turbo CX-90 for a week, and one of my trips was from Denver to Aspen over Independence Pass. It handled much better than I expected-this big girl can really dance! I completely agree with your thoughts on the transmission tuning of the inline 6. Part of the odd behavior from the transmission is due to the lack of a torque converter. The inline 6 engine is equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system (MHEV), which uses an electric motor positioned between the engine and transmission.
Yet another awesome teardown and demo. Subaru Ascent going to be on sometime? I would love to see how it rallies and summits (spoiler: I think it will outperform the normally aspirated Forester). Hybrid is slowly becoming a not-bad word, to a normal word, to its final form of epicalityness with Audi RS Q e-tron (Dakar).
Great review, and you didn't risk a concussion this time!😂 If Mazda offered pickups again, how would you like this powertrain in one? Get well soon Ping.
Glad to see you're back at doing what you do and love best. As much as I, and I think we can all agree, love to see your reviews and build content, taking time off should also be on your future agenda. I foresee a great B-day celebration next April. I, too, have a big one coming up then. But 65 isn't as much fun as 40. Take care, and please just think about it.
9:30 i’ve also noticed hardly any orange peel on their special edition red this car, and the Lexus LC 500 have amazing paint texture👌
Ha the first car I had explosive diarrhea in. I ate at Los Toquotos and while driving home I had to fart but end up spraying the seats with acid poop. I used simple green and a scrub daddy to clean it. Mazdas have cheap leather, when this usually happens I can clean it up fast in my 86 Cutlass.
Sorry about your kitty. You seem to spend a lot of time alone. I hope you have folks to talk to when upsetting things come along. Talking to a camera seems a bit sterile though I did appreciate your sharing. Hopefully the animal will recover👍💖🏴🇨🇦🇺🇦🇮🇱
5:35 Have you ever stepped on brake so hard and long until hazard lights started? In Europe all cars must have this feature ! Use both feet !
@@SarahnTunedmost people who own an EV charge cheaply from home each night. When traveling Tesla superchargers work flawlessly without any drama. I can’t speak on 3rd party chargers but hear they’re getting better. Problem is legacy automakers can’t build competitive EV’s at a profit. I’m for less government intervention and letting the free market decide. 😎
@@SarahnTuned A robust public transportation network in American cities is another thing that isn't going to happen. And EVs will remain an economic advantage for the well-off suburbanites until apartment-dwellers can charge at home or at work.
Looking at the mechanics of this car - - especially the underside; all that shielding and plastic and foil-like heat shielding stuff - - makes me wish I’d kept one of my old cars, the ones with an engine/drivetrain and nothing else. I remember working on cars and actually enjoying it. I think I need a 61 Volkswagen.
Another great review - Sarah, you do have the power to make any car interesting! Wish Mazda would do a hot hatch for you to review, that would be great! Also : "Sarahs Mind Controll Device" 😂 Thank you for what you do and Stay Awesome!
Nice review! Sarah, what I would love to know is how the sport modes of cars that have one behaves. I love that our 500 Abarth sport mode (6 speed aisin torque converter model) allows the engine to still cruise economically when on the highway. The computer eventually calms down and shifts into highest cruising gear but it's right on the edge of a downshift and ready to fire off. My 19 mini countryman S behaves the same way in sport driving mode. My mom's 21 Cx-5 doesn't drop into cruising gear when on the highway, it's just always rev'd high.
Sarah talking about a new Supra with a Mazda inline 6 turbo drivetrain... I would buy that in an heartbeat !! Would fit nice in between my 1988 Supra Turbo (built 7M) and my 2024 Mazda 3 Turbo 😎😎 That PHEV with Mazda 8 speed transmission is quite impressive. 😮 Great review Sarah, as always ! 👍👍
The new model designations does seem to make sense, within their new product lines. Hopefully Toyota's new high efficiency engines will find their way into the Mazda's.
