This Q.E.D. documentary from April 1983 profiles the flight of a British Airways Concorde (G-BOAD) supersonic flight from London's Heathrow Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
It's amazing the technology development that took place in the 60's - it really was an incredible time period - supersonic passenger flights, moon landing, etc
Bring it , this special kind of Beatiful flying machine does not get old, does not faces out, it's just a unic, piece of gem, it's like diamonds, it does not looses value, just up grade everything, with better technology, make safer also, you Rock Concorde !!!
That was my biggest regret in life I never flew on this great areoplane. Saw it so many times fly near and over where I used to live, there was always something magic about it. So sad it doesn't fly anymore and just remember memories when it used to.
It is kinda sad looking at all the amazing aircraft operating out of Heathrow at that time, the Concorde, BA 747s and none of them remain. One killed off by fuel prices and a tragic accident, and the other by a cursed virus.
Captain Walpole was the face of BA Concorde, until he landed one on fumes in Heathrow. The plane was so light on fuel, it was exhausted while taxiing in. Also the FO Christopher Orlebar had written a comprehensive volume about Concorde. It's a recommended read.
An excellent and fascinating video ofby far the most beautiful aircraft ever produced. Only one slight quibble: It is not faster than the sun, rather it is faster than the rotation of the earth! I have been on Concorde a number of times, including ones that have departed Heathrow in the early evening, enabling us to see the sun rising in the west!
So true. This beatiful flying machine, that is made so unic, but so sad to let it go, let sit, come Mon, the air lines industries can afford bringing it back, all it needs is upgrading, bring to up date technology, and there you have it, Rock on Queen of the skys back again safer, stronger, it would alowe more jobs, more career opportunities, in aviation.!!!
NASA is said to have remarked that the development of the Concorde was a greater feat in technological achievement than the Moon landing! Wonderful treat this video.Shame about the last audio got clipped about comparing how the 747 which departed 10 minutes earlier than the Concorde was very near but not quite (crossed the Atlantic Ocean?)
Great vid - got to fly her , but i remember vividly Decel and seeing cape cod from 45K on a perfect sunny am - beaches sparking in the morning mist. Over way to quick - just enough time to snag (1) last flute of Pol Roger - Sir Winston Churchill:) sooo good ! Everyone receives a nice gift , i got a sterling silver tie Tack - another time Grey Conally leather bag tags embossed.
Mark1 transit and mark2 vw vans servicing concorde....just reminds us how futuristic concorde was back then and still would have been today. Aging technology on concorde yes but the design and style just timeless. So glad both France and UK aviation industry managed to get governments to make it - puts a smile on my face every clip I see.
I am looking at uploads like this often. On purpose. It’s almost like planning my dreams. She’s always in the air never on the ground. I wake up smiling 😢 It was only a dream AGAIN
That expantion gap behind the control Panel, caused by heat, is where some Captains put their cap's, at the end of their last flight, So that after landing , the Concorde shell would cool off and shrink, and the Gap would close, trapping their Caps, for ever.
I sincerely hope that a genuine supersonic transport plane will be soon available ready to fly everywhere and anywhere without any fear of making a sonic boom to disturb people's lives
They need to bring it back, this time with upgrade technology, better everything, safer, because safety is first, this time make it go around the word, world travel, air line companies can afford it, they got lots of money and the men power, it would be Beatiful, all over again, a new birth for Concorde the Qeen of the skies, go Concorde !!!
Very interesting video. The markings too, there's one on the cockpit: the Speedbird sign, it says: British, not British Airways. Concorde had to be made profitable, capt Walpole came up with the unique selling point marketing of Concorde (speed), and that helped a lot.
The British livery is not peculiar to Concorde. It was the first livery after the merger of BOAC and BEA, and it lasted only a few years before it was replaced with what's called the Negus livery, which added the "airways" wording.
I am ever so proud of my British cousins, and our French partners, for their courage in spending the manpower to create this beautiful aircraft. It is so sad that Airbus Industries chose to kill this aircraft type. Shame !!!
@@alhdgysz No, not the French, since it was a german Lufthansa jet that caused the Concorde to crash, when it drobbed a piece of metal and started a chain of events..
@@hassanduusmadani8534 well, you should do a research. For starters: It was a dc-10 from Continental, that left the FOD on the runway. Watch this video. A Concorde pilot explain the crash. Then you will understand the French role ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fqOcYhzWUZY.html
“Faster than the Sun” Sorry but didn’t Top Gear do that with a car in one episode. Concorde was and is incredible and with the grounding of one type of aircraft humankind took a giant step backwards. There isn’t anything else ever invented which you can say that about, in that regard Concorde is unique.
There is not, and long will not be, such a beautiful plane as the Concorde. All countries in the world invest huge sums of armaments to protect themselves from adventurers who like wars. Air communication should be improved and flight times shortened. This will bring enormous economic benefits to the world.
Tell Me Why Did We Have To Watch A Comercial For Time Magazine, ??? 👎👎👎But I Enjoyed The Video Of A Wonderful Aircraft., I Seen Them In SYDNEY When I Was Emplyed By An Ausralian Airline, I Hope We Se This BEAUTYFUL Type Of The Aircraft In The Sky Again, BEAUTYFUL LADY 👍👍👍
PROGRESS? Fighter pilots wear a g-suit, a flying suit, and go to the toilet in a bag, unable to move from their ejection seat the whole flight. Concorde passengers wore smart/casual clothes whilst they enjoyed a three course meal, drank champagne and had the freedom to walk down the cabin to a regular toilet(UK) bathroom(US) (!! Even concorde didn't have a bath!!). To fully appreciate this magnificent machine I recommend 2 books: The concorde story by Christopher Orlebar & CONCORDE by Johnathan Glancey
There was only one aircraft that ever caught up with Concorde at Mach 2. That was an RAF Tornado F3 that carried a photographer for a photoshoot in the mid 80s. They got a magnificent image.
Yea! Time is money, and if you can save a few hours, then sure. It’ll be apparent if the destination will be from Australia to the US and only take 5 hours instead of 13 hours.
@@BoredGeese Right. But jet lag is a biological affect caused by the body's reaction to the change in time zones. Whether one crosses them in 3 hours or 12, the affect remains. That's why I thought the comment I cited was odd.
@@cymbalspecialist a pilot could theoretically take a morning flight from London to New York, then return in the afternoon/ evening back to London... and easily be back in time for his normal bedtime.... how would he get jetlag??
You're thinking of people flying on Concorde across the Atlantic for a multi-day trip. Concorde allows you to leave London in the morning, do some business at New York, and then fly back to London in time for dinner. So your body clock would not have time to be confused!
' england = france did made the beautifully concorde airplane... ' come on america... american airplane company can make their own supersonic airplanes... how come never make it so far
