1000 bhp from a pinto is pretty awesome, I had a 2.1 with a race cam and 38/38 weber, and that thing was mad enough, the power was either on or off, but this beast seems totally insane, making my purple people eater look totally tame.

Definitely has the power. I would imagine the biggest traction issue is a result of very light weight and a short wheelbase. I mean if full weight 1000hp Supra's struggle with traction...

God reminds me of my youth and if only we knew to keep a hold of these classics, I had a mk11 2 door with a 2.1 pinto 20 years ago with quick rack, 4 speed quick shift, 3.5 diff,janspeed, twin 40s,pipercross filter and a set of "revvys" 8x13s and it was a complete blast and really learnt me how to drive and by that i mean drift at every corner/roundabout I came across which resulted in a ban and then went down the rs turbo route Renault 5 pug 205 mi16 but had to go back to rear drive ford by way of 430hp Harrvy Gibbs tuned sapphire cosworth to which I still own to this day, only used for Ford Fair and some shows and use an e46 m3 as daily driver.

Sounds like it has a very narrow powerband, boost of lagging boost on wheelspin and limiter, but saying that it screems and sounds very potent and its a drag car it looks like so on the 1/4 it should be fun.My mate had one with a 3.4 V6 Turbo setup in it and it was very dangerous to drive even doing over 120mph you get wheelspin and new underwear that was with dragslicks to...

It's an amazing car. However it is practically useless power without massive drag tyres. I'm sure an evo would beat this from any speed. 0, 50, 100, 150, I don't think this thing would get grip until it was doing 250+.

Id love to find an article on this car and more info on its setup. I am very intrigued about the powertrain it has, I had an RB26DET swapped into a nissan 240sx (s13) and I thought it was wicked, but this is one crazy lil setup and Id love to either ride in it or drive it. From the looks of how this guy is getting loose and getting back into it I am kind of thinking with those habits he may have wrecked it by now. Once that baby got a lil bit crossed up I believe I would probably lift because it looks soooo violent when that turbo spools up and it seems like it would be very wicked even for an experienced driver! I dunno who you are mate, but I hope you havent wrecked it yet because it looks soo awesome!!!

I am sorry to bust all your bubbles, But a 2.0 OHC pinto engine can not reach 1000 HP. I have been building these engines for 25 years, and there is NO way. What OHC V-8 head fits the pinto 4 cylinder engine ??? NONE unless you machine one from scratch. I have used full race cams for this engine, and can reach 12,000 RPM but can only get 501 HP max. with 11:1 pistons and stroker crank. Just some inflated egos to get your attention. But at even 100HP you can loose traction in a super light body. And if you run full boost, you will pop a rod. Our latest is a 1990 Acura Integra with a B 18a engine. Stock it's 103 HP. We now deliver 479HP NON turbo. GSR 5 speed trans. 12 point adjustable suspension, Engine has Eagle rods, Wisco 10.8:1 pistons, stage 3 cams w/ adjustable gears, NON V-Tech. Fast class winner in STL with the SCCA.

What a horrible thing to do to a Mk1 Escort, hate Pinto (boat anchor) engines anyway but seriously it looks like there is about 1000 rpm of usable power. Too much money and time me thinks.....
