It’s a great looking quad. I think the reason why a lot of people aren’t into hdzero is because of the price. I think once they make their own goggles then more people would be into it but until then people who don’t have the money to risk won’t get it. Awesome video as always

Hi Justin Great video and review of the Emax apex35 HDZERO ELRS quad. Great to here that Emax is coming out with a Analog version, I have a Emax apex35 HDZERO ELRS quad coming. I just don't have a HDZERO module or ELRS transmitter. I just was planning on removing the HDZERO system and ELRS and installing a Analog camera and vtx. Thanks Emax for taking your time releasing the Analog version. I guess if the power cable is bothering me I could turn it 90° degrees for it wouldn't get hit. Thanks again for the video and information about the Emax apex35

Owner of a EMax 250, Hawk5 (converted Vista), Sport Hawk, TH Freestyle, TH Race, Babyhawk 3", and two Babyhawk II HD's one FrSky, the other ELRS. SO, Fanboy, Moi ??. The 3.5" Apex isn't making me reach for PayPal though, nor currently is the 5" on the few reviews seen so far. This may be a "pass" like the Buzz was.

on the battery coming out of the side, cant you just turn the esc and have it come out the back and reflash the fc? or not enough cordage maybe? a good choice I think tho

I think the Walksnail system has a lot of growing to do. DJI is established, but despite having its fair share of haters (and for good reasons) the visual quality is as yet unmatched. HDzero will probably eventually replace analog simply because it ticks the same boxes and adds stability because the frame will never lose vsync. If you want to pay for quality, you will go DJI, but the cost might be latency, a usable OSD, or more niche features (e.g. source code, developer feedback). Maybe analog will shrink further, and you could someday fly a toothpick the size of a fruit fly for people with almost zero space to fly. Maybe they will come in a pack of 100. Maybe you grow them at home from seed. I should stop talking. These are great ideas.

The comparison to the Babyhawk II HD, while briefly mentioned, would be useful if extended/made more comprehensive, perhaps a separate comparison video with like for like raw video? I'm quite willing to be impressed if the "Apex" offers more than the BH II HD, but does it? Seeing is believing. Having four "low rider" Diatone ET I built with various power trains from way WAY back still extant and in use, I did grin at the term! (Over the years they were "updated from F1 to F3 and then a couple are now F4 and ELRS!! Have retained perfectly servicable analogue throughout though!)

I thought Walksnail and HDZero were completely different. But you use the terms interchangeably in this video. I'm still pretty new to this hobby and would love it if someone could clarify this 🤔

They are totally different. Walksnail is very similar to DJI but has a lot of problems, HDZero is digital but looks like good analog. Everything digital is pretty expensive I'm also a newbie but this is what I've gathered

HDZERO and Walksnail are nothing alike. Walksnail is like DJI, variable latency 2way link - but worse. HDZ is fixed low latency 1way link, the image isn't quite as good as DJI but it's miles better than even the best analog. For cinematic/flowy freestyle go DJI, racing or micros go with HDZ, if you're on a tight budget stick to analog. Walksnail isn't worthy of consideration yet, too expensive, too many issues.

I think selling it in the dji flavor would add too much weight so the flight characteristics would suffer

Its increasingly difficult to know up front in these reviews FOR SURE what the video is actually coming from and how much processing has been done. Picture in picture of a direct quad camera feed in a full screen smoothed HD is ideal, but at least at the very start of a video it should be clear what set up is being used to show how good it is if not the direct raw quad camera feed. I never demo to people anything other than the raw goggles DVR footage from my DJI, and unless I'm sure I'm seeing similar up front, now tend to rapidly turn off a review where this is unclear at the start.
