Pat Downs is a top engine builder. I chose to have him build me a 1641 with solid motor mounts, racing clutch... I'm the guy that had the primer gray 63 with an army green painted tin. I loved that car. That was back when you guys let me hangout all day while waiting on my car to be fixed.
1/8 mile is very popular on east coast of US at smaller tracks. Nhra still runs 1/4 for most classes. It just depends on the local tracks or the race promoter.
surprised at the size of the battery, my road race Beetle has a battery that weighs only 3 pounds and it runs a 12v cooling fan, electric fuel pump, lights and windsheild wipers...I'm guessing on Pat Downs car its a ballast thing
That's not true he's not the only Builder or the best one in town you got Paradise Volkswagens got David performance in Orange County you got Gary Berg Clyde Berg oh and you've got David Volk stroke as well he builds a mean machine with Sean gears come on man I can name three or four other builders that do turbo applications come on that's not the only game in town just cuz you see his car on the drag strip and he's ripping it up not only that he's kind of weird he's got his moment bro he's not all cake and ice cream
And he may be the fastest it's not all about drag racing man especially in this day and age not everybody can afford to do that but everybody can afford to have a Volkswagen and that's my point he's not the only builder in town nor is he the best for everyone don't put him on a pedestal to high he will fall off
