2:33 Love the tip to fold and finger press for a sewing line. Never seen this tip before, but definitely going to be using it on my next jelly roll project! Suggest also sewing a 2nd seam 1/2” over from the sewing line, then cutting on the fold line. Then you’ll have a whole bunch of HST’s, rather than triangle scraps. 😉

Great tip about the folding. I always mess up when trying to sew on the angle. Now you've given me a great cure foe my error! Thank you for this most useful tip.

I didn’t know about cutting them in half and about adding the flange Ann’s border - I really like this a lot! This will be my next jelly roll race - thank you 😊

This is the first tutorial I’ve seen where they cut the jelly rolls in half. Never thought of it, but I like it so much better!!!

I’ve never seen this done using half strips, what a great idea. I have resisted doing the jelly roll race in the past but now that I have seen the result using ha,f strips I will give it a go. William Morris fabric is beautiful. 💕

Me too! I didn't love the result of the jelly roll race with the full strips because I felt the colors generally weren't spread out enough, but I love the result with the half strips!!

I've made a number of these quilt tops. They're so much fun! But I save the triangle pieces that I cut from the seams and I use them to applique pretty designs.

Please, can you tell me what it was that you cut at the end of the first set of strips together?

IS there batting in this? It's just that you don't mention it so I wanted to know for sure. Yes, the top of a quilt is always easy to make, it is the batting, the backing and the binding that require most of the work. Wish you had shown the whole process. Thanks in advance for a reply.

Love this tutorial! The pressing tip was awesome. Have done one with cutting strips in half but am wondering how to go about making a small one like baby quilt or lap top. Do you measure to size you want and cut. I saw one tutorial to make bigger but not smaller.

I like your Jelly Roll quilts and tips. How do you do the flange? I call it a flange but I think you referred to it as a "filet"... Thank you for the video 😊👍 💕
@anndalynnketellapper8296
@anndalynnketellapper8296 8 месяцев назад
I live in Canada and I have purchased material and used the word fillet and no one knows what I’m talking about😅. My first exposure to the word, in sewing, was by watching Katrina at The Sewing Studio. I have since discovered that North American stitchers refers to the band of separation, as a flange. Too late, I’m a fillet person! 😂

I tried making a quilt like yourself but when I put batting and backing I found lots of bad spots. I’m new at this what could I have done wrong.

Hi Linda, Not sure what you mean by bad spots. Katrina did a tutorial on how to bat and finish a quilt here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mAMjnUpGbsA.html Hope this will help.
