Yep I've had rheumatoid arthritis since i was 9 years old and fasting/vegan/gluten free diet helped me get off the medication

I have rheumatoid arthritis And I've been going downhill for the past 3 years. How many days of fast did you do do I did 7 days already and I had no results. During those 7 days I kept taking 2.5 mg twice per day of prednisone add 200 mg of of advil. If I did not take this medication I would not be able to get up from my bed for the entire is the entire 7 day fast. I am not on any other medication. Did you take your medication when you were fasting.

Fasting cured my fingers arthritis. I fasted for detox, but was surprised to see my swollen finger joints cured after 6 month of intermittent fasting. Totally unexpected. I did nothing out of the ordinary for fasting. It was a combination of 16/8 a few times per week, one-day and two-day fast a few times a month. 3 years later, I still fast but less often. I am happy to report that my finger joints are still normal. Please do yourself a favor by fasting.

Dr Greger, thank you for this video. My grandma had rheumatoid arthritis and it's a shame we didn't know what enormous effect diet could have on her life quality. Would be nice if you allow to add subtitles to the video. I have friends with this diagnosis but they don't know english so well. I want to translate it to Russian so that this info is available to as many people as possible, and they have chance against this terrible disease. Thank you for your work.

As someone who has Ankylosing spondylitis, (feels like I have HAD it, but not that much anymore) I can say that fasting has worked incredibly well for me as well to get on the right path and live a normal life again on a Whole Foods plant based diet! 😄

Can you make a video on diet specifically for Rheumatoid arthritis? In plants based diet - what is good to it eat vs what is not for RA? Also, can you share best way to reduce antinuclear antibodies to normal levels?

I have RA and my ANA always changes. one minute it’s normal then it’s high, then normal again. even my CRP is slightly below normal. it’s super low, less than 1 actually .03 but my RF was 107 a year ago. it’s down to 69 even though more joints are affected now. my ESR was normal then a little higher than normal, and then normal again. the fact the numbers change tells me it can be lowered back down with the right recipe of fasting and diet. I don’t like fasting bcuz i’ve lost too much weight already from this sudden illness. I’m underweight and need to add at least 25-30 lbs back. but I don’t seem to have the usual RA or AS bcuz even light exercise makes my symptoms worse or if i do ten pushups, my arms become inflamed and painful and unable to use them for a cpl days.

Just found your channel today and WOW I love the format of this video. I was able to do a quick search on the articles you mentioned. I just started dry fasting today due to the inflammation in my hip. It’s time for me to get serious about my health and finally give up the meat, eggs and dairy. I’m too young to be using a walker.

Wth, the other answers you got are so off. Dr Greger seems to find a lot more benefits in calorie-restricted diets over full on water fasting. Fasting is beneficial too but shouldn’t be done for more than 24 hours without supervision and suplements. Maybe check his app - Daily dozen to get some tips on how to make eating less calories not be a pain.

I did it with carnivore diet in less than a month. Water fast for one day and then dry fast for 2-3 days, got my symptoms way worse and then completely gone. After that I just started carnivore diet and they didn't return. Well, until I started reintroducing veggies. So I had to revert back to carnivore diet.

Often the obvious isn't obvious to many, dependent on comprehension, life experience, education and subjectivr societal norms. And even then, most of these are modulated by a system incentivised monetarily to keep us ignorant. Family/community/upbringing are the most prerequisite nutrients that bring us to these realisations, or to the precipice of fully understanding these aspects. For the majority, at the moment, eating is just another metaphorical opiate to escape the pain of not having that initial support. Completely agree though. It's a wonder the machinations that profess they care occult the obvious to so many.

Please explain exactly how to fast. Is it 10 hours a day of not eating or drinking anything except water ? Is it 15 hours of no drinking and eating except water ? Please can someone explain what kind of 7-10 days of fasting is needed.

Hi a 7 to10 day day fasting is absolutely no eating only drinking water. When you have hunger pangs You need to fool your stomach is stomach by chugging down water Expand your stomach and within 15 to 20 min your hunger will subside until the next hunger pangs comes. It comes every now and then. But you will not feel hungry all day long. Your body gives you signals that it is time to eat but after several days it gives up on those signals. Around the 3rd day may the 4th it will disappear and you will continue drinking water.

This is absuletly true. When I fast, my pains go away after just one or two days. Surprisingly, my energy boosts beginning from the second day. Even, it is like eupheria. Of course, there are bio-chemical reactions related to RA.

What if you already don’t eat animal fat, or eggs and still have rotten joints? My diet is very restricted because of colitis. I’m on a low everything diet 😂😂always. I eat very little, I’m 5”4 and weight 100 pounds. I’m afraid fasting will make me a skeleton.

Fast essentially means strong. Going fast requires strength, hence the use of the word. Holding fast is a common expression. So when one is fasting, they are literally becoming stronger.

Would fasting before taking MAVENCLAD be beneficial or would fasting after treatment for autophagy be more beneficial or would both before and after be better mavenclad is a micro dose chemotherapy and Dr. WALTER LONGO showed that for cancer it protected the healthy cells while making the tumor more vulnerable. Theoretically would it protect the immune cells you are trying to destroy or protect them?

Interesting that many carnivores along with fasting also reversed inflammation. Many people don't respond well on plant based because of nutrition deficiencies but respond to whole foods.

What kind of fasting? For a week and never again? Or everyday? Like eat 8 hours and fasting 16? Or fasting 2 days and eat for 5? Or does it not matter? :)

Hi, Amanda! There is a lot of variety in fasting regimens, as reflected in the sources cited in this video. Eating 8 hours and fasting 16 is not really fasting, but time-restricted eating. Ny experience is that it can be an easier and still very healing approach to go for a 10 Day starch based SOS free whole food plant based diet only eating millet, Rice, buckwheat, potatoes, vegetables, seeds and a few walnuts with a small amount of fresh fruit - ( the Rice diet, the McDougall starch based solution in a very basic form) 🎶🍀💚🐸🎵

Sorry but saying that FASTING is what fixes the underlying issue is ALSO not correct. "Healthy weight" is "the cure", fasting is just the temporary process to getting to that state. "Fasting" isn't the cure just as statins are not a cure.

Its not measured that you have a good health But RA arthritis is an auto immune disorder and will not cure by medication forever the only solution is change diet and another way is fasting of 8 or 16 hours after night meal.knows from that which suffer from this

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis early 2008 and took Methotrexate to keep it under control. From June 2021 I gradually decreased the weekly dosage while Water Fasting 5 days a week. Gradually I introduced Dry Fasting. By September I was taking no medication and there were no flare ups and no pain through this process or since. I also cut out all inflammatory foods and then gradually reintroduced them again. Humans were created Omnivores - all food can nourish us given sufficient fasting time to digest and process it. I accidentally had tomato 🍅 and there was an immediate reaction. My finger joints were stiff when I woke up the next morning. I dry fasted that day and within a few hours all pain and stiffness was gone. Then I had a very big serving of potato salad a week or two later and my finger joints were stiff the next morning, so once again I dry fasted but it took 2 to 3 days before my fingers recovered. Meantime there were no Rheumatoid problems whatsoever regarding eggs, all non-nightshade vegetables, all fruit, wheat/gluten, rye, oats, fish, sugar, honey and dairy. I don't eat most meats anyway and don't like the taste so I can't comment there, but I absolutely dispute the eggs and fish causing stiffness once your body has been cleaned up through fasting. And even if I do accidentally eat nightshade vegetables, given sufficient time, fasting gets rid of the symptoms. Mind you, I prefer coconut/almond/cashew dairy substitutes as I have found that dairy affects my sinuses. Wheat/bread/cake makes me gain weight so I avoid them, but it doesn't affect my joints. What really helps is a higher fat content: avocados, nut butters and good fats. While we might be omnivores, some foods are much easier to digest for us, but all foods given sufficient time for our organs to process thoroughly can give us nutrition. This is why Intermittent Fasting and One Meal A Day works. The healing power of sleep comes from the Autophagy (not eating and drinking) and if this can be extended to 20 to 23 hours, over time, the body has a much better opportunity of dealing with all sicknesses. If you want quicker results extended water fasts and better yet, dry fasts are more helpful.
