The station generated a small amount of electricity for the needs of nearby collective farms. With the commissioning of the powerful Volga hydroelectric power station, it was discontinued due to the unnecessary and high cost of electricity.
There were projects to restore such hydroelectric power stations on the high-speed rivers Nerl and Uvodi, but they remained only on paper.
