Thanks for the feedback, Nicholas! Fat biking is definitely easier. Trail ratings are based on the number of twists and turns. The black diamond trails in the Methow area are simply more twisty turny! My girlfriend is not a mountain biker by background and she handled all of them a-ok!
I would say it is easier climbing on a fat bike. The grade can't be too steep otherwise you'd just spin! Fat biking black diamond trails have a lot of twists and turns. Definitely something everyone can enjoy!
