I got this about a week ago and I've been playing it non-stop, around my work schedule. It's unlike any other dungeon crawler on the market. I'm loving it.

The core gameplay loop is a very well done puzzle. Rolling the dice and using skills and items to mitigate the results is very satisfying (although at the start of the game there isn't a ton of mitigation). As you start to level up your characters you really see how different the characters are. I have the Shaman able to control enemy animals, the enchantress does a ton of damage (who knew) and the merc is a tank. The map is way cooler than I thought it was. You actually wander around, much like the old Fighting Fantasy books (going North, South or West, etc). You actually have to navigate and use the map landmarks to not get lost. The story is very good and there are some branching options, which is always nice. I don't love the tight timeliness but appreciate that there is an option to take an additional round if need. And 4 player is a lot easier than 2 player(solo). Solo is not impossible but your heroes are going to get beat up.

Battle Mode is supposed to come to the app in about a month. They decided to make it even more involved than they intentionally envisioned, with more replayability and depth. Which is exciting, but sadly delayed its implementation in the app. I'm also glad that they're going to soon offer an .EXE of the app for use in Windows and on laptops Surfaces (something more publishers should try to do, looking at you Restoration games). edit- If it's not clear, this has quietly become my most awaited game of the year. It just looks gorgeous, and the Vengeance combat system is one of my favorites. I'm eagerly awaiting my pledge to arrive sometime this week!

Wonderfully designed game. Looks fab, Colin. Looking forward to the playthrough. The trays and boxes reminded me that I still haven't sorted my Mythwind trays, let alone played it! 😩😩 So far all I've managed to do is prime the minis. Too many interests and not enough energy. lol

I'm curious if it plays as well as it looks! You're totally right: the preview from Mike also got me excited. I didn't dive in because of the price but it seems like a sweet spot between depth and play duration? I'm looking forward to your plays. Keep you rolls up!

It's the next take on their battle system they used for Vengeance and Vengeance Roll & Fight. Which is super exciting as both those games shine in their combats. Here's hoping the story/rest segments of the campaign flow just as elegantly as their violence does :D
