Thanks so much!! I finished the campaign yesterday so these will keep coming during the week. Thanks so much for watching! Excited to do the next one too!!
I'll admit your pronunciation of Japanese was a bit painful, but the game-play itself was interesting, and your enthusiasm is always a joy to witness. I'm somewhat disappointed with the rather blatant typographical errors (repeated sentences, misspelled names of something that is an important quest item, and one of only a few character abilities that you think would have had more rigorous QA, etc.), but they at least didn't actually impact comprehension of the game-play (a wrongly-named item, referencing another existing item, rather than simply a misspelled item, for example), and I'm still quite looking forward to playing the game when it delivers within the next month or so.
Hi Mike, thanks a lot for the video, it looks like you had a lot of fun fighting the Shogun, in the Exploration Phase there are a couple of enemies with very bad intentions waiting for you :). Thanks!!!
This game is absolutely gorgeous. Very much looking forward to my copy delivering. Thank you for the video Bairnt! I'm convinced I'll have a lot of fun with this one.
Hi Colin, watched (and loved) all of your solo Imperium playthroughs on One Stop Co-op Shop. Any chance you're planning to do more for Imperium Horizons, particularly with the new Trade stuff?
Thanks so much for watching over here as well!! So I fell off the bandwagon on Imperium. . I played the Horizon's with the trade route and it just felt like an utter slog. . so I moved it along. I am sorry, it is a great game just felt like I could play more enjoyable games for me in much less time!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Ah, that's a pity, but I have heard that criticism from others as well. I guess I'll have to start watching all of your other videos instead!
Now that you've played. The delay in the game for so long. The bad taste in everyone's mouth. Do you actually enjoy this game. Is it good; mechanics, art, story and direction? I got the game never opened was thinking of just selling it but I may open and keep it.
I liked the game good writing and fun. It is a long game though 6-8 hours they have made a shorter version of the game but I think it’s best to play it the way it was designed. So if you like long games it’s fun 😃😃👍
Great video, was hoping that you would come back to this eventually. Your prior videos on marvel champions remain ones of the best edited so far.. Thanks <3
13:45 You facetiously "theorize" that the progress required for the Dark locations are all 3 (or 6) so that Legolas can't take them out in one go. I have a theory: The Dark locations each require a multiple of 3 in progress to be cleared... because using a Cave Torch can put up to three progress tokens on a Dark location. So you can use the Torch to clear Dark locations with nothing "left over" (even though the "leftovers" would go on the main quest). It's a "come on" to get you to use the Torch.
I just recently came back to Champions myself and was enjoying some of your old videos. Excited to see you continue. I'll probably play along with the series, since I was just playing Crossbones earlier this week. I tried him on Heroic 1 a few times and got close, but couldn't quite get there (curse you Advance!).
As shield block is a defence card, should the Hero have been exhausted when it was played to avoid damage? Top video. I have this senario with your hero deck all setup and ready to go. It's a great inspiration to get back into this game. Thanks
Yes!!!!! It has been confirmed you do not need to exhaust when using a defense card. But it does mean you do not get the benefit of your shields on your character. With shield block though that's fine!
It's funny you should say this. So here is the deal. When It was on crowdfunding I was excited for it. I liked the game and the potential the system had. Now as a game goes though development I try to stay on top of what is going on. As the Games That I back start to ship and give me a shipping notice, my excitement increases and I start looking into what the final product will be including trying to get a hold of the rule book to learn about the game ahead of time. Well this game is a special situation. First off I got no tracking information at all and It just showed up. Second there is no rule book for this game so I really only have a small grasp of how the game plays. So this was not a normal unboxing for me. I am excited for the game and have already played the tutorial right after I did the video. It is super chill boss battler and I think it will be a ton of fun can't wait to dive into the campaign. Sorry I didn't have as much info as I normally do. Thanks for watching
I'd be curious to see you discover the system with Colin. First play must be interesting! I have been curious about this system for some time. The game seemed a bit light but, if it can showcase the system, then that's cool!
I think you have it exactly right. I think this game is a light Boss Battler that shows the potential of this system. Im not sure Colin will be too interested in it but we shall see.
Great video! I like all the legendary games but if I had to rank them, my list is below. What's yours? 1. Aliens 2. Predator 3. Matrix 4. X-Files 5. Firefly 6. Buffy 7. Big trouble little china 8. Marvel 9. 007
I looked at this a while ago and think this game is a boss battler type game, right? I hope I'm remembering that correctly. And Vampire The Masquerade Milan Uprising, the other game, unfortunately came out when I got a game of the same/similar name so passed on their version. Just very unfortunate timing. But I've always liked these assisted systems. First one I recall was Dungeon & Dragons where you has metal figures and pressed them on the electronic board to tell it where your hero walked. I just wonder how flexible this board will be with component/hero placement.
Tim I had that game!!!!!! It was shaped like a castle and you did press down and based on the noise it made you do something like place a red wall or find the treasure. And the dragon had. Hidden movement type concept. That DND game was awesome for its time!!!! Mine broke a long time ago but had great memories of it. Ok so after the ride down nostalgia avenue. The Bad Karmas game is a boss battler and the whole board is realized by the game so if something is not in the right place or when you move a figure some where the game knows so this is a great term you used “assisted”. It would be hard to make a rules error in this game but I wish it had a rule book so I would know what I could and could not do. I’m excited to give this a try and tags k you so much for reminding me of that old DND electronic game!!!!!! 😃😃👍
Great job! Sorry for all the comments. I was a play tester for this expansion so I LOVE watching people play it. I hope to see more Bond on your channel!!
29:44 I am not positive…but I think the explosive mines being placed into the on assignment counts as it’s action that turn. In other words I don’t think you can play it for its five attack AND do that special effect. You play a card to generate its recruit and/or attack and that is playing the card.
Yeah I was not sure either! I have asked on bgg but no one has responded. If you find out for sure can you let me know? I'll do the same! Usually you can play a card and do it's action so wasn't sure..
The amount I've played Marvel Champions is pretty embarrassing. My friends and I used to play this on TTS every weekend for about 18 months straight, so I've probably put in 400 hours alone on this with literally hundreds of plays. It's easily my most played game, yet it's also one I'll never physically own because of the incredible mod that's on TTS (and because I've gone down the Arkham Horror rabbit hole and can't afford two separate LCGs).
@@MeetMeAtTheTable favorite boss is a tough one because that one depends on what kind of difficulty you like. Kang was super cool and had one of the coolest mechanics out of any of the bosses. Ultron was another one of our favs to play. And then the Green Goblin scenarios were just so unique compared to most of them. Favorite hero is easy. Ironheart. Hands down my favorite character in the game. She's a slow build but when you get her to level 3 she's arguably the strongest hero in the game. I also really, really dig Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, SP/DR, Storm and X-23. But there's so many good ones and most of them are fun.
FireDrake I will do my best to make that happen. Funny thing is bough it for the same reason but decided the boss battler looked cool as well we shall see how I feel after playing it. Great to hear from you thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Thank you Colin for the playthrough. This is one of my all time favourites! It is amazing to see how people play the game differently and how I would have made such different choices with the same cards in hand. For instance, I think nick Fury is one of the best cards to get in an opening hand 😊 - that extra three card draw just gives you such a quick start. RORS is one of my favourite campaigns! Enjoy!
10:54 I have found that the best strategy is to only fight those henchmen when you can potentially trigger your risk it all THAT turn as it greatly increases your chance of verifying that you can safely KO a starter. This is risky as your on assignment will grow if you let henchmen stay there BUT KOing a great card with risk it all is NEVER fun. :)
This is an excellent game and I have over 500 plays at the two player count. However. Around this expansion, the one before it, and beyond - the game got worse and worse. We found that every turn there was an optimal play, which you must make because the bosses are too strong. The whole game is about getting ad much stuff in play as possible, so many cards are not really good enough.
@@MeetMeAtTheTable You're most welcome :) As for balance, the cards are well designed but the bosses just get SO powerful that many cards start to fall off. If you play against the earlier bosses you can use nearly any cards in a good deck successfully. The hard bosses put so much pressure on you that your back is against the wall every turn and it becomes very narrow decision-wise, there is little-to-no creativity left. Also, the worst part is that the games take longer and longer and feel like a chore. When I play a game like that I don't want to spend 2 hours on it for a single game, at that point I'd rather play a dungeon crawler.
@p0ck3tp3ar the length was my biggest complaint on this game before as well because you are actively trying not to advance the story. It felt like I was just stalling the game. I will say I like solo a lot because that does not seem to happen!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Yes, the length is also frustrating because you need to do the same stuff every single game due to pressure. Once the designers changed the game completely went downhill. It lost it's casual yet challenging charm and became an exercise of optimization. If I have one complaint about combat in board games it's that it often boils down to a puzzle, and that makes the combat feel less realistic, slow, and drawn out. Lots of slow turns in which if you make the wrong move the game is over. Whereas a real fight is often very fast and brutal and full of emotion, occasionally but not usually a chess match. But I digress!
@@p0ck3tp3ar I get this sentiment. I've played I think all the bosses sans the most recent box. And some of them are tough and can take a long time. Most of my plays at this were at 3P and some of those games lasted upwards of 3 hours. I kind of disagree with the decision space thought though? I've played several different builds against some hard bosses fairly successfully. Even if some of the older cards are less relevant, there's still so much flexibility in the game with all the cards.
I too bounced off this game after a while. While using cards for resources is a cool mechanic at first, I’ve found that in practice it means you are always using the same cards each game. No matter how you build the captain America deck, his cards are always the best in the deck and what you play each game. It is a great game, but unlike LOTR LCG I think this game loses its excitement after a handful of games. I also find that each villain is very similar when you actually play them, again unlike LOTR where quest can vary so much.
I can totally see that! I do think that there is a place for the game if you are looking for a much quicker experience though. But I agree I like the deckbuilding on LOTR better for sure. Thanks so much for watching!!
39:07 i think like if the final mission card doesn't specifically mention anything that needs to be crafted to fulfill its conditions (pretty sure none of them does anyway) then i think u should NOT be allowed to put on any more scraps on the board from those cards, only the conceal tokens.... makes the game harder and u have to think more carefully about what u craft since u now have limited time doing so!! should make the game more interesting and better
two copies w potentially twice as many jonesy tiles would make the cat carrier much more relevant lol, and many other interesting situations i can think of to boost replayability
