This is so great Martin. Great song .. great cover. The skill that amazes me when I watch your videos is how calm and relaxed your right hand stays, regardless of the complexity of the music. You are inspiring me to try to relax my playing (both hands) while still getting both volume and tone variances. Thanks, John Gig Harbor, WA USA

Thank you so much John! Yes, being relaxed is the key. I guess it´s a kind of universal approach to all activities, really. Now, finding that relaxation is a different matter. I know how hard it can be because I´ve struggled with voice tensions my whole life... After (soon) three years with a voice teacher, I am starting to find a relaxed way of using my voice. So, I know it can be a long hard road, especially if one has used a "forced" kind of technique for years and years. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Hi Martin, the amp make your sound much better for sure but as far as i heard from you, you have an extraordinary playing with nuances, beautiful. One question please : i'd like to start recording my acoustic guitar, could you please me tell what do you use as a microphone and as audio interface, and do you have any suggestion for people like me who can't spend too much money on gear ?... Many Thanks

Yeah... Cathedral Express... For those who have the TW, It’s always helpful when you note what settings you used :-)
@tallstrom

Yes, I know - coming up shortly :) I hope lol
@TomCafiero
@TomCafiero 3 года назад
This way when I match your settings, and it DOESN’T sound like that... then I know it’s on my end... not the TW! lol @@tallstrom

@@TomCafiero Hi again! It´s the "plate" reverb, decay 20, predelay 0, hicut 25 (so it´s pretty much default setting, and then I tweak the decay time). I had FX volume at 24 and gain at 15. Those numbers are pretty high, partly because I have a passive pickup (=low output) and partly because you need a bit more of the overall effect to capture it on mic for this kind of demo video. The effects always sound "louder" when sitting there playing, because you are basically engulfed in the sound.
@TomCafiero

@@tallstrom Above and beyond... thanks for taking your time to be so specific. This really helps because I am using a passive pickup as well. Also good to know when recording to go a little bigger :-)

Your sound is so clean. Do you use flat wound strings?
@tallstrom
@tallstrom 3 года назад
Thank you Jerry! I use exclusively Elixir coated strings, usually 012-053 phosphor bronze "nanoweb".

Two guitars are playing, did you loop it or just dual track it?

I added the rhythm guitar on the 2nd half, yes! It just sounded so sweet :)
