In this role, I find this actor one of those who are not classically handsome but who has enormous personal charm and charisma. A very special sort of ordinariness about him, love his mannerisms and way of speaking in the show. Yes, the best ever Father Brown.
How wonderful! Father Brown is one of my favorites along with Poirot and Jessica Fletcher. I’d love love to live in England. It’s so beautiful there. I often wonder why the British people that move to San Antonio Teaxas/where I live, leave England to move here. It’s super hot here and it’s difficult to maintain a garden. It hardly ever rains and it’s nowhere near as beautiful as England.
I avoided this series for a long time. Then I watched one episode and became hooked. Brilliant. It has the same sort of old world charm that P. G. Woodhouse has.
Having gone through the David Suchet "Poirot" series during the Poirot centennial year, when I watched the final episode, I had to find something - anything! - to replace it. Enter Father Brown - and I couldn't be happier.
I loved Father Brown...it has been a few years since I've watched it and I would like to go back and watch some of the original episodes again but can't find a way of doing it unless I purchase britbox and I am not willing to pay for a TV show that I use to watch for free.
Check out the earlier series with Kenneth More; it is not hi-def but the stories are infinitely superior to the current Father Brown. I have never read Chesterton's FB books but the feeling of earlier series strikes me as closer to the original.
