So I’m posting this for a reason. I love my boys more than anything in this world. I’d do anything for them. One thing though is sometimes they act up, like any 4 and 6 year old will, but more so when I’m not around. So when I get home I have to “handle” the situation. I’ll be the first to admit the first few years were pretty rough with my sons. But through it we’ve reached this point. This is how we handle tough moments in my house. I recorded this to show my wife what Leo and I talked about but I love his reactions. My sons have learned that when they are “in trouble” that we have a discussion about it. Quietly, no yelling or screaming, no beating them or overreaction. Just a firm discussion and I always allow them to state their opinion or side too because I want them to feel validated in whatever frustrations they might have. My rules are simple, when we talk we sit face to face, let each other speak, and always hug at the end. The funniest part about this, this is how my parents handled me when I was a kid. I remember only one time where I nutted up to my dad at 12 or 13. All he said was, “no, were going to talk. I’ll let you speak, then you’ll listen to me.” That one day was so impactful in my life and I didn’t even realize it until I became a parent myself. My boys are incredibly well behaved overall, but it’s from the work my wife and I have put in as parents over the years. Plus, his pouting moments I think are adorable I just can’t let him know that lol. Also, I remember my mom telling my brother, “that’s your room, but that’s my door.” And she took it off the hinges for a few weeks since he liked locking my parents out hahaha. I guess we really do become our parents, and I’m not upset about that at all.

What he is teaching his son is that only men need to be listened to and obeyed. He says himself that he has to "handle" discipline issues. Why can't the mother handle them? She should be teaching the children right from wrong at the moments in question. He tells the child to be "nice" to Mommy but said nothing about listening to her and obeying her.

Yep. As a child/ teenager I often found it frustrating that my parents ALWAYS took each other’s side, even if one of them was not 100% in the right. As an adult now I am SO grateful that they did that. Because at least I always knew that they had each other’s back, and by extension mine. And I always knew that there were rules and boundaries. Even though I didn’t always agree with them, I’m so grateful they were there.

Personally my dad used to do the same thing if we had any type of anger or frustration but I don’t know maybe my dad was abusive I’m just saying there are easier ways or softer tones that you can use in order to talk to a child.

Bs. He deployed misogyny and oriented females as subordinate. “My doors” “my house” “if i was home” and “mommy’s nice to you”. This taught this boy Fuk all about respecting women and girls as equals. He reinforced misogyny and male dominance. So you are arguing fathers are important because males are more important and males can’t respect females. Sh1t logic. So Men own and are in charge and be nice to women if they are nice to you aka give you what you want.

@@bari2883 I'm not sure what you mean by "birthing bond" ? Maybe you are talking about in the first 3 years of life for child to feel secure because mother is feeling secure but if the mother doesn't love the father it will cause turmoil for the children later on in life. Truly, the best thing for children is to be raised by both mother and father who love and respect one another and give to their children out of that abundant love. The man loving the mother may have a greater impact on the baby's immediate mental and physical well being more than the woman respecting the father does but that doesn't mean it continues to be true when baby grows older. Have you ever been in a household where the woman doesn't respect the man and right infront of the children, too ? Then you would know the impact it has on that environment. You'll know how it beats down the man and how that effects his ability to parent, partner, and love well. You really can't seperate the two as science or psychology tries to do if that is where you are getting your information from, for man was made in God's image and He made them both male and female. The human being is male and female. Indeed, it isn't about man vs woman as there is no such thing in the law of God. The law of God says, " these two will become one. " Therefore, neither one is more important than the other. I am convinced neither one is more important than the other but in their respective roles they do dominant. But rather how well they dominate in that area is dependent on one another. Yes, for a baby father loving mother is more important in that stage of life but we do not get to the truth of things by looking at one side and having but one perpective and basing our argument or judgement on one span of time and in this case an extremely short span of time. All things have to be considered. All things meet their connection. It may be more important for that baby that the father loves the mother more than she loves him but does it continue in that way as baby grows older and as mother and father continues to be together ? Or is it just as important that the mother respects the father as he loves the mother ? For rather she respects him or not and how she shows it or not will effect him and in that continual line effect the children and effect herself, as well. And for a husband not to love his wife will effect him in negative ways, as well. I would say, it does start with the love of the man but that love cannot continue if it is returned to him in vain. So then, if the mother doesn't love also the father then it is a love that is voided out and returned to him empty. A love she will no longer receive because love isn't meant to be empty or unprosperious. And that in return truly effects the baby or the children well being.

AND...This is how it’s done! No yelling, No belittling, No spanking, No frightening the child...just flat out “Daddy to Son” a real talking to. Our son did this a few times in his earlier years of this age as well, my Husband had him open and close the door calmly and quietly 10x in front of him. Also informed him it was his door and if he does it again the door will be taken off the hinges and put in the basement and he will NO door. Great having Mommies back too. ❤️

Your kid deserves a door in his room no matter what, how would you feel if you had no privacy in your own home? He isn't 2.. I'm guessing since you said his "earlier years." Your kids will never respect you if you do not allow them some privacy and at the very least a door on their room. Put yourself back in your 4/5/6+ yr old shoes and try to think how you would feel.

I love that he is firm. I love that he strengthens the authority of both parents involved in raising the child. I love how he sets boundaries; he doesn't present it as something that is negotiable. The one thing I wonder is when a parent tells the child that he is living in the parents home, what are other people's feelings about that? I get it, the child does not pay the mortgage. The parents set this home up for themselves and their child.
