You right.. rap will never get back to this. The industry again saw another way to make millions off black talent today. They didnt want to have anything to do with rap back then too risky in their opinion
Honestly, it never mattered to me if DeVante could really sing or not because his song writing, composing and producing skills is unmeasured and ahead of it’s time. He was truly the heart beat of the group. . Kci & JoJo was there vocally to you feel it all.
Rest Peacefully Prince Markie Dee and thank you for all the music & memories. From the Fat Boys, to your solo career and the many songs u wrote & composed like this one. Will always bump your classic "Love Daddy" album. #TrueLegend #DontYouDogMe
Yeah he can actually sing very well. There's a video of him singing while playing the piano in the Docugroove Jodeci documentary. DeVante and Dalvin can actually sing but their voices weren't as powerful as Jojo and K Ci (Nobody's voice is) A lot of people assumed that DeVante couldn't sing but he was definitely able to because Jodeci's harmony wouldn't of sounded so perfect if he or Dalvin weren't able to sing.
He was the Executive at Uptown records back then and even did sign up Father MC into Uptown ... Wasn't a back up dancer but as usual even till date he loves dancing in most tracks for his protegees ...
At one point this dude was a bigger star than Mary J, Jodeci were his "back up singers" and Puffy wasn't "Diddy" yet. Life comes at you fast boys and girls.
Eugenia Brown It's still around, just not like this. This is technically a fusion genre called new jack swing, and I hope it comes back so I can experience it.
I aint buying none of this shit thz days.its very rare tha joint has 5 or more bangas now unlike back then.. all thz cats n same lane now. Money, women, drugs, murder nd guns.. dumbin nd misleading our youth.. its sad. No more conscious nd deffly no more partyin n dancin.. FACT 😡😔
Jodeci before they changed the game in the early 90s with Forever My Lady. I loved this song. Artists don't do this anymore. Even ol' Puffy started his "cameo" appearances in videos like this. (Yes, he's back there flappin' his arms. lol)
Oh that's a BIG call.. Boyz II Men were around a good while longer after Jodeci's peak years. What about my favourite group, Dru Hill? And 112? Jodeci is right up there, either way.
Jodeci left to do separate projects. Boys 2 men were done by 1997 they’re last album was a flop. Kci And JoJo we’re still going strong from 1996 until 2002 Lmao smh.
Please! Today’s rap is trash. We need more love, respect and happiness music, and less drug, sex, violence, and disrespect music. It’s old now. I’m tired of the hood. And R&B just fell off a cliff.
Listening to this song still gives me Chills. Jodeci's vocals on this song is just WOW!!!!! Especially at the end **Singing Baby Yeah, baby YEAHH, BABY YEAHHHHH** Father MC was another trendsetter.
Man, Sean Combs was the hardest working dude at Uptown/MCA Records back in the day! Dancing in the videos, being an executive, an A&R guy, a former intern, and producing the tracks for the songs he dancing in the videos for, LOL!
For the record that's devante lip syncing Jojo's part they just wanted to give D a lil more shine Jojo was there standing off camera and gave the ok for it. Believe me I was there standing next to Jojo. Why because I wrote and produced this song. Thank you😁
The Prince Markie Dee Show Damn for all these years I thought this was the only time Devante actually sang but now that you mentioned it I can totally tell that's Jojo's voice. I don't know how I never caught that lol
I was looking for this comment! People did not realize that Devante could sing & wasn’t paying attention when he and K-CI went OFF at the end of this song. EDIT: OKAY I was Today Years Old when I found out Devante was lip syncing JoJos part. Apparently JoJo didn’t like spotlight and group wanted to spotlight Devante so there you go.
Uptown records really doesn't get the recognition it's output deserves. Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Heavy D, Father MC but the criminally underrated Christopher Williams.
I hear KC blowing in the back ground......oooH, OOOOh sing it KC and JoJo. I guess once upon a time women could dance with clothes on and still be a force to be reckoned with my how times have changed.......those girls were bad.
I just found out we lost Prince Markie Dee!! I'm hurt!! A fixture in Hip Hop, an extremely underrated writer and producer, A very soulful dude!! Rest In Power Markie!! 💔💔🙏🙏🙏❤❤
I grew up listening to this song in the 90’s and was today years old seeing the video after so many years when I realized KC and Jo Jo were wearing these vocals the fuck out…
This is back when rap and R&B was in tune with the everyday average life of people. That’s why the music had soul. It resonated with what we felt going through life and our everyday situations. The blues in R&B was still there
@@blacklove7204 that's both the brothers adlibing. Devante has a baritone strain voice. And KC confirmed it. And its really common sense bc if Davante could sing, he would have more leads.
Father MC was sooooo lucky. Mary J. grooving on the first video, Jodeci and Diddy in the second ..... dancing and crooning. Only if Mary was in this video too.
+D Sav Him and Cory Rooney made a cameo, but I guess they had to show who PRODUCED the track. I mean, hey…it was the 90s. Even the golden age rappers had to produce to golden age fire
