He's rightly proud of his daughter - but crazily optimistic about the immature son-in-law with the giant chip on his shoulder! I sincerely hope this marriage didn't last a year - the new husband's response to the speech, and the decidedly cool body language between bride and groom, did not bode well for their future!
Wow, the groom did NOT like that gag about his new wife 'wearing the pants' from now on. How long did this marriage last?! Great, heartfelt speech, but the father of the bride flattered his son-in-law AND their relationship way too much, which is really sad. His daughter was a woman, marrying a boy. Girls with great fathers like hers, rarely find a husband to match him. That guy doesn't even come close, and never will! I only hope she got out without having any kids. Because children are the only real commitment between two people there is. However long a romance/marriage lasts, parenthood is forever!

No matter what, most fathers seem to hate it whenever their daughter has a boyfriend (even if he is a good guy). There are even shirts made for daughters that say "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO EVER DATE" and shirts made for fathers that say "DADS AGAINST DAUGHTERS DATING". There's also a lot of other shirts and merchandise made for fathers that say stuff like "Rules for dating my daughter: #1. You can't!" or "Before you date my daughter, know this: I'm a dad with a shotgun, a shovel, and a backyard." and "I'm not afraid to go to jail." I have also heard many fathers on the internet say that they hate the idea of their daughter having a boyfriend someday, and are completely against it. So it seems to me that most fathers don't ever want their daughters to date and be in a romantic relationship with a guy and get married to him someday.
Agreed - he had a face like thunder at father-in-law's gag about the bride 'wearing the pants from now on' (lighten up boy!) and the body language between the bride and groom is decidedly cool. It's sad the bride's dad made such a great speech, full of harmless jokes, tempered with affection and compliments for the couple. Yes that pink-cheeked pansy squirmed throughout, and wasn't man enough to go with the flow and enjoy it. A decent guy, confident in himself, would have laughed and just agreed with the whole "She's the boss" joke. So what if she is?! Guy has fragile masculinity - and that's never good husband material! The bride has a great dad - and for some reason a girl rarely gets a great Pa AND a terrific hubby. It's an unfortunate law of the Universe! So can anyone tell me how long this disastrous match stuck with it before their inevitable divorce?! Please God they didn't have children, a disaster like this couple could seriously harm kids.
I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. Also, it seems that fathers usually hate it whenever their daughter gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy), and it seems that they often hate the idea of their daughter dating, and many fathers seem against the idea of their daughters dating. Most fathers don't want their daughters to have anything to do with boys outside of being friends. Many fathers won't allow their daughters to date when they are in high school or still living with them. So it seems that most fathers don't ever want their daughters to find love and be in a romantic relationship with someone. So those could also be other reasons why the concept of romantic relationships isn't a good thing because of how protective fathers tend to be whenever their daughter dates someone since they are afraid that the boyfriend will be a pervert that will make their daughter uncomfortable (also break her heart or abuse her). Domestic violence does happen in a lot of romantic relationships and marriages, and a lot of people who are in a romantic relationship or married do cheat on their partner or spouse with someone else. Bad stuff like that happens in a lot of romantic relationships and marriages.
