Aang straight up died. Katara saved him, and saved the entire Avatar cycle, with the Spirit Water. If you look carefully for the rest of the show, you will always see the scar on Aang's back, and the grounding exit scar on his foot where the lightning exited his body.

Aang was cooked and probably the lightning also stopped his heart. The scar on his back is so deep that it obviously would've encompassed his spine and spinal cord. He was quite dead. But, Katara was able to heal enough of his body within that 4-6 minute time period where the body is dead but the brain is still active. So, his brain was never out of oxygen and nutrients.

Rather it was 5 minutes, 5 days or 5 months. If Aang was 100% dead the Avatar Cycle should of ended.

@@TheMrPeteChannel "Should HAVE". And suspension of disbelief can just indicate that he was only MOSTLY dead, and not ALL dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do: Go through his clothes and look for loose change.

@@TheMrPeteChannel Nope. If someone is down for 5 minutes you start CPR right? Why? You start CPR because the brain can survive without your heart beating or your lungs breathing for about 4-6 minutes. After that brain cells start dying. Clinical death: Your heart stops or you stop breathing. But, your brain still has enough storage to keep active 4-6 minutes. This is reversible if you start CPR or use special spirit water. Biological death: This brain death. Ain't no coming back. So, it matters.

Katara's voice actor is Mae Whitman. She's amazing; she's also really amazing as Amity in The Owl House (a very good series!)

I really hope they have the Owl House on the roster for future reactions, I would LOVE to see them watch it!! I'm sure after ATLA they're gonna want to pick up LOK, but hopefully they do TOH at some point too!

There is a theory that Princess Yue was destined to be the next avatar after Aang, but missed her opportunity since Aang was frozen for so long. That’s why she was so connected with the spirits

A fun fact: all 3 books start on a boat. One of the best things this ep was the contrast between the parents. Katara's dad despite not being there for his kids for years still very much loves them and was kind and comforting towards them, while Ozai was completely cold and just stiffly talked about how he was "proud" for accomplishments his kids had done for him or the fire nation, not because he actually loved them. The writers really know their stuff. Kataras Voice acting this ep was top tier 👌. Mae whitman absolutely killed it with the voice crack and everything. Apparently, the creators wanted to go all out and have Aang an entire tearful mental breakdown because of the guilt he felt for not being able to defend the earth kingdom. But it was shut down by nickelodeon for being too mature (which is kinda weird cuz we literally see this happen with Zuko in the Ep Bitter Work). So what we see in this ep is a toned down version. Glad u guys were cool with Mai and Zuko being a thing. Reactors usually are repulsed when she kisses him. Fun reaction as always. Have a great day 😄😊.

I'd say that despite Nickolodeion shutting Aang breakdown , it's still way more mature than any similar show. Aang's acceptance at the end of the episode is incredible.

@Deorman Oh agreed. I didn't think it was a bad moment/scene. It's just that if Aang had actually broken down bawling similar to Zuko, it would've hit a lot harder emotionally. For me, it's usually the Goofy, energetic, and smiley characters that get me crying when they actually break. So what im saying is that the moment is good, but it could've been more than just good.

@@mohammadjunaid2683 I don't know actually, people tend to overdo it a lot when they want to make soemthing serious, Like Korra , characters are always overdramatizing and it's considered mature, when it actually it's a sign of imaturity.

@Deorman While I get what u mean. I think Aang actually breaking down in this ep would've been kinda deserving (I can't think of a better word). He's a 12 year old child, a genocide victim with survivors guilt (and possibly more trauma. I'm not a psychiatrist), The Avatar; the world's last hope of ending the war. And add all of this to the fact that he lost at Ba Sing Se and the guilt he feels that the Earth kingdom is now completely taken over by Fire nation. Him being physically weak because he just woke up from a coma, him tunnel visioning, not thinking clearly and rushing to fight the firelord, so he's able to correct his mistake.... uhhh yea. I think a mental breakdown is absolutely possible and realistic. It wouldn't be an exaggeration or overdramatic imo. All im saying is this episodep would've been rock bottom for Aang. Making us as audience think the only way now is up.

Avatar The Last Airbender has a "Lost Episode". It's called, "Escape from the Spirit World". Escape from the Spirit World is actually a *Canon* online game. (It's an official part of the story.) Meant to explain the events between, the End of Book 2: Earth, and the start of Book 3: Fire. The important parts of the game are basically an online comic book. These comic book sections were collected into a video that was included on the DVD set of Avatar The Last Airbender. It's a lost episode because the streaming services don't include it. But you can watch it for free on RU-vid. Obviously you've already started book 2, But hopefully you'll give it a watch.

Hey Meesh and Dee "Happy Thursday". Great first episode of season 3 was amazing. We get to see Aang with hair. Which is interesting. I understand Aang pain when he felt that he let the world down we ge lost Bai Sing Sai to the Firenation. It was nice that he finally saw the bigger picture and went along with Sokka plan to pretend that he's dead until the day of the Invasion. Katara and father moment was a sad one, but at least the two can reconcile the problem. Zuko and Mai getting together I didn't see coming. But I can't lie the two are a match for each other. We get to see Firelord Ozai and how he looks like. Mark Hamill voicing Ozai was the perfect choice. You can tell he wanted his love and approval. But he's so conflicted. Azula giving Zuko credit for the Avatar defeat let you know she's up to something. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.
