DAM IT MARC!!!!!! - Ok i'm ordering now, but I want extra customer service - you have to take the call from my wife when she finds out!!!!!! - Thanks again :)
I bought the green one SNKM97 last weekend. Absolutely beautiful. I passed at first, then jumped in. I actually wore it two days in a row. I rarely do that, but I loved looking at it.
The Solar gets my vote not least because it's in Gulf racing colours too. Love Solars as they are great in rotation, no resets or winds! Win Win. Thanks Marc another interesting video.
I like your videos very informative without sounding like a commercial. Probably a hard line to walk. I like that square one as a cheap way to add diversity to my collection, but they all look good.
I own the first watch you showed, the SNKM97. I bought a hardly used one, because for some reason this watch is not distributed on my country, Romania, which is odd because much more expensive models from Seiko are, but hey, I got lucky and I found one used and I bought it for my birthday. I really like the watch, the dial is beautiful, the movement is what it is. Many complain about the movement, but at least it's affordable. The only downside of this watch in my opinion is that the case is ultra sensitive to any touch, and collects scratches even if you touch it accidently and softly. Everytime I wear it, after a while I discover another minor scratch that wasn't there a day ago, and believe me I don't wear it for digging trenches or something, just for work on the office. Other then that, great timepiece.
Been wearing my recraft snkn37 pretty much daily since buying it in January. It's got a dark blue dial and 70s-style numerals at every other even hour. I've received quite a lot of compliments on it-- I'd definitely recommend it.
Thanks again, Marc- your channel is one of my go-to favorites. I appreciate your honesty and integrity when presenting the products you do, and your watch-and-learn series has been most useful and informative. Cheers!
Hey, Marc, another nice video. I always pick up something new watching. I love Seikos and some of the Recrafts are gorgeous--but definitely too large for those of us with smaller wrists. When they start making them in 40mm size, I will start buying! Would certainly add to the vintage quality as well.
Marc, thanks for the great video. The SNKN05 you showed briefly my best half got for me when it first came out. Absolutely gorgeous. In sunlight it looks grape and in artificial light it looks maroon. I do like the chronograph you showed. For me it was like Seiko’s take on the Tudor Heritage Chronograph. I love the blue/orange colors. All three pieces you showed would be great in any collection. Again, thanks for the video. -Mark
Seiko made some amazing looking re-crafts but the big downfall was just how big they all were made. I wish they would have made them the same size as the ones from the 60's and 70's. I bought a couple of these but had to get rid of them just because of the outlandish size of these monsters.
Solar seikos are great for daily wear! Would love to see the SNK227 recraft on a 1970s 'MOD' strap with the wide leather band and two snaps to hold the watch case. No one seems to sell those, Marc!
Hey Mark (Or Marc?) , any idea if you'll be getting more of the Seiko SRPC13K1's back in stock? absolutely LOVE the blue and orange, but they're damn hard to find....
I like that SNKM97, but I'm surprised you're a fan of it since at least on my screen it has a very similar color palette to your arch nemesis the Alpinist! ;)
Hallo Mark, beautiful retro watches. Very attractive. Must be a great success. But why put in a cheap mechanical movement. Big, big mistake! Even a cheap Chinese mechanical (60$) watch, comes with the Nh36A, hacking and hand winding movement. I just don't get it.... The Solar quartz, very attractive choice.
I too really like the design of the first watch. Really 1970s golden era watch, I think of really good prog rock, like Gentle Gigant, an old Volvo 144 that reeks of Chesterfield cigarettes, me dressed in dusty leather boots, olive corduroy trousers, a big brass belt buckle, a button-down orange shirt with floral pattern under a brown leather jacket, really groovy sideburns, and topped off with a heavy garnish of Tabac and a gold amulet necklace. And of course this watch. (Can you believe I wasn't born before 1990 and has never visited the 70s?) But, somehow the blokes at Seiko probably was binging That 70s Show and dropping acid tabs when they settled on making this, and thanks to how messed up proportions get when you are tripping balls they decided to size it for Andre the Gigant. Why did they make it so bloody big?? This thing should have been 39mm or thereabout. 43,5mm is waaaaaay too big for this style. Bad Seiko. They need a rolled up newspaper slapped over their snouts for this utter horological and stylistic faux pas.
Does Seiko have any quartz chronos which are solar AND have atomic time sync? I really like the 667, but for the price I do wish it had the time sync as that would make it a lot more worth it. Not a huge dealbreaker, but the time sync is kind of the killer app that makes me a Casio fan for grab n' go.
I don't understand how people can wear a watch over their wrist bone with the crown digging into the back of your hand. Who can possibly find that comfortable? Plus, it looks ridiculous.
