Absolutely love this. I'm rocking a '96 Voodoo Bizango a friend welded a disc tab and brace onto. It's powder-coated light blue; originally orange. My favorite bike.
Excellent as always, it is great that she did it with her son, since they have forged an appreciation for the work and give value to what it cost them sweat to build, a hug.
I started mountain biking when I was around 9/10 years old and I like geeking out at bike components back then. I'm 21 now and seeing the components this build has had me drooling like I was back in the days
As a father who loves doing guitar work with his son this was a favorite for me because i know the joy of working with your son on something you both enjoy, also that orange is 👌.
I love how you modify the frames themselves in order to be more modern. If I had the tools and the knowledge I would go one step further and add internal cable routing and polished welds.
Was contemplating doing this to my '99 VooDoo HooDoo, and now you've got me stoked. Love seeing this with your son. That's a great bike, and you've just given it another lease on life!
Just spent a couple of days stripping down my old Voodoo Bizango (used to be my teenager's bike, too small for me now). Awesome steel frames and can never get bored of the way they look
I rebuilt some pedals with my 11 year old son yesterday. Not complicated, just disassembled and cleaned the bearings, but it was a memorable time. Glad to see this video.
bro. god bless you and your son, i am really enjoying watching you give this old things new life in a fabulous and wonderful way. you are a big inspiration for me to open my own bicycle shop my greeting to you and wishing you a good luck i am Mohammed from Iraq
I appreciate your son help to restore the bike along with you, he is bit different from other kids who live in virtual world, it quite important to involve children in diy tasks inorder to divert them from small screen make them learn life skill. Highly appreciated and applaud for him.
The restoration has been great. Although I think the best thing was the help he got to do it. You can be VERY PROUD of the restoration as well as him. Congratulations.
Why have 28 people (so far) given this a thumbs down? They are miserable naysayers. Lovely project. Well done. Hope your son gets a lot of enjoyment out of it.
I own a 10.000 $ mountain bike but officially I am jealous of your son. He has an amazing bike with a crazy paint job. I wanna congrats you at this moment.
A very nice restoration, that was so nice to build that bike with your young son helping, he now has a very nice bike to enjoy riding for many years 👍 Au
Made me think of when I was doing bike and bass guitar work with my dad. Thank you! I also like how you keep attention to details where it matters (tires, disc mount brazing) and use stuff that just works on places where no extraordinary parts are needed (beat up XT derailleur with clutch is just fine)!
It's beautiful to see you sharing your knowledge with your son! Knowledge is the most valuable possession that we got on life, and share it with others, is an act of love. As always, nice work with that bike!
I love the red anodized parts . I'll be trying out that spray bike paint soon . Building a mountain bike with your dad , it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks old shovel
Awesome build. I’m in the process of repainting my Breezer Inversion 40th Anniversary and was wondering which clear coat you think is most durable. Thanks again for all keeping us all STOKED!!!
Father and son build,I love it. What an awesome way to spend quality time together, and your kid gets a nice, well built bike as well. Finding interesting ways to spend time together is always a challenge,so if you can find a hobby that you both enjoy then it's a perfect way to spend time with your kid(s). You have fun and create good memories in the process of building things together, when you have grandchildren you can pass down the bike and make even more great memories as well. When you use quality parts to build things and keep them well maintained, they tend to last for a long time, then you get to use it to teach others a skill as well, all around good times.
PlayStation 4 will always be there, waiting to be switched on.But time spent together like this, will stay with you forever. You both done good on this project, waiting for your next one now!
"Share the knowledge that you have" yeah, I believe on my father, cause he give me his knowledge and own skills. I cheers for that. And for this wonderful content.
Bike technology has come so far since I rode bikes. In high school a buddy of mine use to build them for the local kids and I would help. There wasn’t any disc brakes, the most advanced thing on the bike was the derailer lol.
Outstanding rebuild! I long for a Cannondale M800 Beast of the East.I still have a 1994 Cannondale M400 that I sent to the shop for replacing the transmission and brakes. There are a couple of “naked” frames for the M800 but I believe the project would be not feasible! My 6 year old says to you: you have the best tools!
Wonderful video. Your channel has 100% inspired me to learn how to do some bike repair work, so I picked up a couple used mtn bikes and my daughters and I are going to spend this winter fixing them up together so they're ready to go by spring. Thanks for the inspiration!
Good job as always! This reminds me the first work I made with my father: painting my yellow bmx! Since then my father is always by my side helps me in every self made project! So I wish the same for you. I'm waiting for your next restoration so you'll be safe too. Ciao!
I remember an article years ago in a mountain biking magazine saying that it wasn’t worth fixing up older bikes, because new parts won’t fit them and you’ll never find older parts worth using. Shows you what they know, lol. You and your son did a great job, that Voodoo looks amazing, I’d bet even the people that originally built it would be impressed.
I always debate on this one so I try to let the video speak to me. On this one it just felt good to start without talking or music and that the story was well told in silence but I also like telling a good story when it wants to be told. Thanks for watching and the support.
Really it was a very nice, pleasurable experience. I did it only by myself as I am single, it wasn't an upgrade as I liked my bike as it was when I was young so I " Renewed" colour, tyre and every little bolt, and I was really happy with the result. I am sure it will be far more pleasant when person share it with his son.
Just amazing.. some people might not realise that Voodoo were expensive frame only options back in 1998... they also had that Joe Murray Kona geometry..
I was so moved to your passion. The first video I saw it. It's really intrigued me alot, you are now one of my inspiration to my dream. I'm starting to do my workshop on the future once I quit my days job. And follow my passion. Anyway thank you for sharing this video it helps alot.
WOW! Awesome job guys! I raced on that exact frame in 98 and 99 over here in michigan. Awesome to see one like it again. Was an awesome well riding bike! The kona build ... great too! Raced a kona KU (in yellow) too...if you find one of those ... that also is a great bike. Awesome what you are doing with the older frames! Holy nostalgia!
Without doubt one of my favourite RU-vid channels - I've loved sharing my passion for bikes with my own son, so this really resonates with me @oldshovel Love seeing some of my 90's dreams bikes (None of which were particularly expensive but still held a special place. Bikes like the Kona Caldera (Which I watched!). Thank you!
You are brave for welding the rear brake clamp. Again, beautiful build, nice colour (although I would personally prefered red or black grips) Congrats for the Chris King parts!
Paint stepped up another notch, quality effort. When I saw the Chris King head set in that red I said "yes" hahaha love the build, well done guys. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate the way you guys work together I bet the young man will appreciate his father for teaching his son, of how it is done, the day the young man fully grown-up and become independent I'm pretty sure he will THANK his father for his knowledge and love his father for teaching his son giving knowledge, I know how it is and how important it is to have a father present to his son, I too had a father who thought me his knowledge as well before my father pass 2017 my father made victory meaning he accomplished everything he ever dream of before he passed and I am honor for his knowledge and wisdom he has giving me as well, Thank You for showing this video it just reminded me of my father and me working together the same way you guys did too!!.. I have to say between old and new upgrade on the bike it was cool to see a major deference on a bicycle upgrade it looks good congratulation!.
Now that I watched it, it’s great that you’re teaching your craft to your son. It was a great build, and it’s a really nice handling trail bike. Since I saw those Bontrager wheels, I’m going to have to go back, and see if you’ve done a Bontrager build. They were such wonderful bikes, before Trek ruined them.
Love the two color paintjob! Awesome! I was waiting for another restoration that you add disc-brakes. Could you provide some information on how you weld the caliper mounts? Thanks!
