I saw him perform in the 1950's when he traveled with other groups, also saw him in Las Vegas at a hotel show in 1971. His piano was on rollers & he pushed it on stage while singing.
To the guy who saw his show in Vegas, in 71'. My hubby and a couple of friend's, also saw the same show! We moved here, to Vegas "38" year's ago. Fantastic Entertainer!!!
It was Michael Savage who introduced me (his audience) to this lovely tune! Now I listen to this song every Monday when I listen to Michael Savage's show!!!!
Truly A Classic Rock And Roll Song for all you musicians out there. Listen to this song over and over again. It's a great song for any kind of instrument to warm up to before a show. Play along with the riffs, bang those drums, vaocalize, whatever. You'll be all warmed up for your show no matter if it's jazz, rock, blues, HEAVY METAL, HARD ROCK, PUNK, THRASH, whatever. Enjoy.
Fats is one of those guys who was put here to do what he does and when he leaves He will have saved more people than we will ever know with his music and the goodness that radiates from him.
Blue Monday how I hate Blue Monday Got to work like a slave all day Here come Tuesday, oh hard Tuesday I'm so tired got no time to play Here come Wednesday, I'm beat to my socks My gal calls, got to tell her that I'm out 'Cause Thursday is a hard workin' day And Friday I get my pay Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin' All my tiredness has gone away Got my money and my honey And I'm out on the stand to play Sunday mornin' my head is bad But it's worth it for the time that I had But I've got to get my rest 'Cause Monday is a mess
Now dig this, bro: My father (who served in WW2) said Fats play a gig at Stanford University around the time I was born (1948), which he saw. Now if that ain't longevity I don't know what is!
They, whomever that is... should have a " Tribute, " to the The Fat's, after all, look at the many year's of entertaining that he has done, and enjoyment he has given to everyone !!!
I got to shake his hand after a concert in Las Vegas. Firm handshake - but all those rings on his fingers cut into my own fingers (it was worth it though)
@DISSALINED1--Fats is alive and well and still living in NOLA. He was rescued by NOPD by boat from the second floor balcony, he was weary but okay. The storm took a lot from him. He just turned 83 back in February, and is in great spirits and health.

I'm a Connecticut Yankee and I'm with you all the way. There is a phenomenal documentary about the Fat Man that I saw on PBS a few weeks ago. The title is "FATS DOMINO: WALKIN' BACK TO NEW ORLEANS". You will flip out when you see it. I am trying to download the bittorrent file.
What you mean "R.I.P."? I have heard rumors of his death many times, going all the way back into the 1950s, but, as far as I know, the Fat Man is still alive.

@Gary198101 Fats is alive and living in Harvey, LA, Jefferson Parish, NOT New Orleans. He is reclusive and guarded by his children. His mind is slipping, which is expected at his age. He will never play another show. Those who saw him at Tips were the lucky few. God bless and protect our legend- Love you, Fats!
@imnotaknowitall I speak with his daughter on occasion and spoke with him just last month. I am aware of his location, I just dont speak about it out in the open to protect his privacy. Thanks for your reply.
