I met Fats at a restaurant bar on the Westbank of New Orleans. He was sitting with some friends drinking and having a good time. Everyone there new it was him but didn't want to approach. I had heard stories about how personable he was so I figured, what the heck. I went over and introduced myself and told him I'd love to buy him a drink. He accepted and we talked for a while. We ended up singing blueberry hill together. Other than my wedding and kids being born, I can honestly say it was the highlight of my life. What a gentleman and New Orleans ambassador. The true King of Rock and Roll. Our hearts are heavy. Fats, you will be missed.
Fats Domino was an amazing trail blazer in music. In his own way he changed the face of pop music. He introduced the world to music of a different type. What a loss he is to the world of music. One of the greatest stars ever. Rest in peace great man.
God bless u fats you brought me great relaxation when I was growing up and in army I am 75 now listen to u each day will treasure your music forever god bless you
Heard this man's music playing in my home since childhood. Always loved his music. Met him a few times and there wasn't a sweeter more gracious man alive. I'm proud to have been born and raised in the same town as him. He put New Orleans on the map. And we all love him. Will miss him ever so much.
I Remember seeing a reporters interview with Fats many years ago and the reporter asked fats what was he looking up at adoringly while singing many of his songs in his later years....Fats answered " I'm looking at my Lord".....So i know i'll see him again one day all young and handsome and singing with the other greats...RIP Brother
fats came to my house I was about 7years old he set down at my organ and played a few tunes my mom and dad had a ball that night with other family members he was a good friend of my cousin who lived in Oakland we will miss u fats
It was an absolute joy growing up in New Orleans with the music of "Fats" - I could just walk around the corner from where I lived and see him often. He was a gracious man - he'd sometimes take sever of us kids (many, many, many years ago) for a ride in that hot pink Cadillac. My children got to meet him at the Jazzfest one year. Great experience for them. I do feel saddened by his passing but what a body of music he has given to us. Thanks so much Mr. Antoine "Fats" Domino." My life is all the richer because of you!!!

HE SAID " EXCUSE ME " WE MOVED ASIDE . HE THEN SHOOK MY HAND & ASKED HOW WAS I DOING. AS HE PASSED BY , ONE OF MY FRIENDS ASKED , DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT WAS ? I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT HAND SHAKE. HE WAS MY IDOL GROWING UP. TO THIS DAY I HAVE ALL HIS MUSIC . REST IN PEACE F-D.

Like Antonio Ponce and Frank Bommarito below, I met Fats Domino in person in the mid-1980s when he was performing in Indianapolis. After the show, I was the only one who stayed to greet him, and he was so gracious and friendly. I told I had loved his music since the late 1940s when I was a kid, and was honored to meet him. He chatted with me as if we had known each other personally since then. I too have most of his recordings on CD and enjoy them often. What a great musician and humble human being!
I remember seeing Fats here in the UK at Sheffield. He was top billing with Little Richard and Chuck Berry. It was to be his last show in the UK as he was taken to hospital after the show. If I remember, Fats mentioned that he had recently come out of hospital, so he was not a 100% well, but what a show
I thought i was one of the age group who still loved his music and that of the bands / artists of the 50s . Magic time to grow up and wonderful to see so many found joy in his music and will continue to play it for their grandchildren .
The late and great Fats Domino broke down racial barriers all over this racist country with his great music I miss him terribly. I play his songs all the time on my internet radio show Classic Soul me the Masterblaster RIP brotha.
I appreciate the fact this reporter was genuinely touched by Fats because it shows in his story, sincerity goes along way .That Trumpet clip was awesome btw .Rest in peace to a great Artist🙏 Thank you

Fats domino he was the king off rock n roll he was singing long befor chuck Berry little Richards they claim they were the Kings off rock n roll elvis quoted fats was the king, long live all there music
I saw Fats and Rick Nelson in concert, in 1985 in Sacramento. I never realized just how good Fats was until I saw him. Rick Nelson's first hit, I'm Walking, was a cover of Fats's version. And even though I have always been a huge Rick Nelson fan, Fat's version is far superior.
Fats Domino was a GREAT American Ambassador. Vladamir Putin did a Live Blueberry Hill singing gig. All over the world people felt the LOVE from Good Average Everyday Americans.
there were 2 greats in the 50`s while I grew up-----we refuse to let Fats and Elvis go------they are still the greatest-----I love them both--Can yal imagine both of them playing for our Heavenly Father? WOW----
