I just adore my two Fatsia Japonica plants which I’ve had for quite a few years now. They provide all-round interest with little white Pom Pom type flowers in the Autumn which turn into little black berries in the Spring. They have ‘lobes’ which have eight ‘teeth’ and of course anything with Japonica at the end of a Latin plant name means that it originated from Japan. They are so hardy they can take -15 temperatures which is amazing. They can take sunshine but do like a bit of shade during the daytime. Of course you can keep yours in a large Bush shape, and they can grow very tall. But I like to keep mine in a tree form and in this video I’ve showed you how I do that every year just by peeling off last year’s lobes once the new ones appear. I think this creates more of an architectural tropical look which I find more interesting. All in all Fatsia Japonica are one of my favourites in my garden and I definitely wouldn’t be without them.
