It turned out well, very nicely done. I would turn off the irritating music, and also show the finished wall in more detail. Mention your paint. This is known as Venetian Plaster in the US. Its a technique for achieving an aged patina on a wall or special decorative effects. It is Latex house paint (acrylic not rubber) mixed with slaked limestone or marble dust to thicken it. You can roller brush it on or use a spatula. Let dry. Apply a second contrasting paint sponged over, then sand gently with very 320 or 400 sandpaper to give it a velour finish in the crevices, then use a flat metal trowel to 'polish' the ridges that stick out of the hand plastered texture. This gives a shiny look to the flattened ridges, contrasting with the velvety lower areas. Additionally, the second color gives it depth. E.g. Primary color is yellow ochre, secondary color is burnt orange very lightly dabbed here and there with a sponge for aging effect. The marble dust in the paint gives off a nice polish and texture. The other effects to use are a leaf skeleton, or fish spine skeleton that you press into the fresh paint to get a decorative motif all over. If you do this, limit to a small wall or its too much. You can also use a hand trowel and get a lot of 'movement' in the application. You can apply this to wood, drywall, or any absorbent surface. Cracks can easily be filled in, if they develop from house settling.

Is this the same as Roman clay? I’ve been loving Pure & Original paint for years. Might finally try it this summer. Would love to find a cheaper method. I see videos of people adding joint compound to paint, and I’m wondering if it’s roughly the same thing. Thanks!

@mjremy2605 Год назад
@@edgehaven8485 Roman Clay is a specialty paint finish made of natural ingredients. Mix 2 parts joint compound to 1 part paint. It has a much thicker consistency than regular paint with a very slight sheen, especially when left un-sanded. It creates a finish similar to Venetian plaster and resembles natural stone that is usually smooth and soft to the touch. Portola's Roman Clay is an eco-friendly plaster finish ideal for smooth interior walls. Applied using a putty knife, Roman Clay provides a versatile finish able to achieve a wide range of stone, stucco and marble-like effects.

Hi mate, Great video, could you just confirm the paint you were using? Does it need to be of a special finish or thickness? Or if you could direct me in what I should be looking for on Wickes or b&q . Many thanks

Hi, Thanks for watching. I was using Craig & Rose Artisan - onyx and pale elements, you'll find it on their website. Be reasonably generous per coat because you need to form layers and different depths for the concrete look. Hope this helps :)

Hi mate im looking to do something like this on my stair treads would this paint work if sealed afterwards many thanks
@mjremy2605
@mjremy2605 2 года назад
Not for stair treads. You have no space to work with and the constant vibration may loosen heavy paint. Try Talavera tiles for color on the rise. It is not concrete, so you cannot use this on treads. Its latex paint mixed with marble dust. Not for outdoors either.

Hi craig not sure if you will answer this . Im a bit behind since you posted it. Is this the the same paint colour on all 3 coats . I noticed you said its concrete pale elements and also onyx pale elements so im guessing youve done a coat of each colour. ?
