Thank you so much for the clear video. I’ve seen this done before but forgot about it and I look forward to trying it now. I recall the the earlier video I saw suggested substituting coffee or tea, or watered down acrylic paint instead of plain water, if you want to tint the napkin or give it a vintage vibe.
Yes! You are right, you can use those methods to create vintage vibes or change the napkin's color. It's my preference to use plain water because I can store the leftovers for a long time (up to 1 year or more). However, if you add coffee or tea, you can only store it for 1-3 months because they can cause deterioration. ☺
Just put your glue/water mixture in a spray bottle, put the napkin on dry, and spritz heavily. Napkin will soak through, it goes faster and no tearing.
You're right, it might be easier, but the 'cleaning' process may be harder. I mean, if I have some leftover mixture, I just put it in a bottle or put a cap on the container, but if you use a spray bottle, make sure to clean the spray head, etc., because after a time, the glue will dry, and I think it's hard to use a spray bottle again if you don't clean it enough. ☺
After the drying process, the paper is not sticky at all. It won't stick to your hand, but it's still processed paper, so I think it might react with moisture. However, I haven't tested that. 🤔
What I used for the liquid : glue ( any water based glue, like school glue / craft glue etc.) and water. I don't have fixed quantities, but it's around 1:7 (glue - water) ratio. And that's all :)
I'm sorry, but I don't use fixed quantities. I'm focusing on making a milky mixture (glue + water). Sometimes I have less or more mixture than I need, but don't worry if you have more than you need. You can store it in a bottle for months or maybe up to a year (make sure it doesn't get any air so it won't dry). If I really have to say something about the quantities: I use around a 1:7 ratio (glue - water) for the mixture. But it's up to how thick glue used. ☺
