Many years ago. I knew a 90 year old man who said it wasn't cool to sight fish on beds. He said it ruined and interrupted the spawn by pulling fish off their beds. It alllowed bluegills to raid the bass beds. It cut down the amount of bass being reproduced for seasons to come. What is your opinion on this? I have watched many video's of yours. Where you are sight fishing beds. I have done this my self. During this time other bass have either spawned or getting ready to. So I fish for bass in deeper water and still seem to do very well. Could you Please give me a answer or tell me who taught you to this during the spawn? Thanks, Scott for your opinion! SHAWN

Love this time of the year getting to get out and go bed fishing! I just fished a tournament on lake lochloosa on Saturday and a guy in my tournament rolled up to the weigh ins with a 45.23 pound bag of fish! I had a 19.6 pound bag with a 8.2 as my big bass!

i love bed fishing i love finding new ways to make em bite drop shot is always killer tho can shake it right in their face without having to move it outta the bed...but guys PLEASE release your big bedding females a guy at my local county lake is keeping several bass over 3 pounds even kept a few over 5lbs yea a big mounted bass looks nice...but get a replica or take a few nice pictures with it and get it blowed up into a nice poster it'll even be cheaper and you get to keep your good genetics spawners in the lake 👍 and smaller fish always taste better anyways
@shawnbeck2303

Pulling Bass off the beds is a No! No! It let's Bluegills raid the beds. It over works the males trying to protect the beds. Many males will die. Trying to defend the beds. I learned this from a old 90 year old pro fisherman. He said many bass are still in the deeper water. That have already spawned or waiting too. Not all fish spawn at the same time.He said he won touraments fishing deeper water during the spawn. How do you just justify bed fishing. By ripping females off the beds. Many will not return after being pulled from the beds. Many males are taken off the beds because they put the foreign object in their mouths to remove it from the beds and are caught to never to return to protect the nest! Think about what your doing just to get a PB. Shawn

There isn't a lot of pollen on the water there, if any, but people can also take dish washing liquid mixed with water in a super-soaker water gun and spray that on the water to clear pollen away in order to see beds. Just a tip from a Georgia boy. :)

Hello Scott my name is zac Johnston. I have three boys and we actually started bass fishing a year ago when I started to follow your channel. I’d love to actually learn from you personally. Have you ever giving day tours to help people in the sport they love. I fish off a old bass tracker 170. Haven’t won a tournament yet. My goals are to get out of working on Volvo diesels and become a professional angler one day. I need some help 🤷‍♂️

This is very helpful, I am an awful sight fisherman. What maps/tools do you use to find these shallow spots without driving thru them and stirring it all up on a new or big lake? I can use the depth finder but by then it's too late.

Try a big swimbait like a glide bait! Bring it by her face, let it suspend or slow sink then pop it up and she gets triggered! Big mommas hate big baits in there beds.

I've been nailing them with a brown and light tan 1.5" fly with my fly rod. Takes me 30-40 minutes to land them but they slam it. It seems to work best if you throw the bait in, wiggle a little, like Scott showed then just let it sit close to where you saw the fish to begin with. If I miss the fish the first time, it doesn't hit the same bait again. So I switch bait right away and let it sit completely still, and then they slam it. I'll be uploading a video this week of me catching a 2.5lbs bass on a bed with a fly pole, @harvestlandtv. Took me 40 minutes of taunting to get the first strike.
