If you want to be able to control whether the window shade is up or down, book a window seat. End of. I almost always book aisle seats because I don’t really care whether the window is open. The only time I have ever wanted someone to shut the window when I was on the aisle was on a flight to Copenhagen years ago. We hit severe turbulence flying over Greenland, and looking outside all I could see was a vast frozen wasteland…. 😳

Yeah but this is more about a window lighting up the entire cabin so can’t really control everyone. I definitely see your point though. I am a window seat guy when flying with the fam and do enjoy them. Aisle seat when by myself.

I applied for the Wyndham pass and since I did, I've been getting bombarded with emails which makes no sense because they already had all my info. But if I were to get one of the 25, I have nothing but time and plan to use all 30 nights. Great excuse for a long road trip!

Yeah it’s mostly marketing. Grab a bunch of people’s info and hope the loss on the 25 passes makes it worth it.

The window should be close at all time, except when taking off and landing.. and one time, i had to right behind someone who constantly open and close the window every 5min its so annoying and bother the hell out of me. That was the worst 16hr flight of my life.

I'm trying to get into Citi but they denied me. It might be good for someone starting out to get into Citi before you have a bunch of inquiries on your credit report.

Citi tends to focus on the last 6 months. So if you have 3 or more hard pulls in the last 6 months they will likely deny you. Once you drop under you should be good to go.

I’m the opposite, I can’t stand when someone doesn’t leave the window open. Why would you get a window seat and not look out the window. I would much rather look at the Great Lakes and Grand Canyon than feel like I’m stuck in something like a claustrophobic MRI machine.

Same here. I used to fly in the military...C-130 loadmaster,...been on over the world....I still love looking at earth 🌎. It's so beautiful.

Sometimes I get window just to lean on the wall to sleep. Mostly sit aisle though

But when it is an overnight flight with changing time zones? Sometimes it is light outside but it’s sleepy time. Makes it rough on other passengers but I get it. I also enjoy the views.

I’m like that too. I need to have the window open. If I don’t I have huge claustrophobia. An eye mask is a good thing to have for people who need total darkness on a plane.

I think that it's going to get very hard to use these travel points soon. The whole world is jumping on the points band wagon now and the availability of point flights and rooms is way too small. PLus there are so many machinations to this. First you have to figure out how to earn enough points to do what you want to do. Then you have to book a year in advance. Then you see that there are 3 levels of the All Inclusive rooms and the lower 2 tiers with the fewest points are gone. So now you have to pay MORE points. OR you want one of these first class to Japan flights but you find out that you have to do like 2 stopovers. UGGH! There has to be a better way.

Can always focus on cash back or redeeming through the portal and picking what you want. Doesn't work as well for international biz / first but a way around the hustle of award hunting.

Apparently the 'Love Island' contestant pulled the same scam before on Qatar Airways. The guy didn't bother to pre-order any meal from the 20 special meals, nor bother to check the menu which is on the website and was handed to passengers on the flight which clearly sates cashew on there. Thanks to his stunt, the flight attendant prolly lost their job.

I can’t imagine putting yourself through that on purpose. But I agree if it was that severe I would probably insist on seeing the menu. Even then there is potential of cross contamination which I know in my brother’s case is enough to cause serious issues.
